Hello Pat, no I have never been to Germany! Although I would like to go, that’s where my family is from, my grandfather came from there when he was 12 years old in 1911! I have never tasted the liquor cookies, but they sure looked amazing Thank you for this giveaway! Carol.

Yes I have been to Germany and loved it! I enjoyed the German pretzels I bought from a street vendor.
I’ve not been to Germany, but it is part of my ancestry through my dad’s mom. His brother also married a German girl while stationed there. She would make potato pancakes, sauerkraut, hot potato salad, pretzels, and strudel. But my favorite is pumpernickel bread. I would think I’d enjoy these cookies. Yum! Thanks!

I lived in Germany three times while serving in the US Army. During one of those assignments I lived blocks away from the Nuremberg Lebkuchen factory. During early morning PT formations there was always the most pleasant aroma in the air. YES!, LebKuchen is my favorite Germany food.

savory turnover called (pumpkin blegendas) not sure about the name , have never been able to find a recipe
or duplicate for childhood memories.

I’ve not been to Germany, but have German descent on my father’s side of the family. We buy a special German cookie from Aldi’s every year called Spekulatius Spiced Cookies. They are absoluutely delicious with a hot beverage! The Lebkuchen cookies look delicious and the storage tins are so cute. I have been to Germany quite a few times. We lived in Belgium my last year of high school. I love most German food. schnitzels, wurst, the soups with bread.

In fact, when I was last in Berlin, I was able to join your YouTube morning chat since it was in the afternoon in Germany and not at zero dark Thirty where I live. I have not been to Germany, but that is our family heritage… and I have 2 Grandsons in college in Germany learning and enjoying the culture. would be lovely to join then for a tour. I have never been to Germany. However, my daughter is flying to Munich Sunday, 10/19 for business. That’s the closest I’ll ever come to Germany. I live vicariously thru my wonderful daughter via her pics. These cookie tins are incredible.
I’ve never been to Germany, but would love to go since I have German on both sides of my family. It’s very hard to pick a favorite German food. I love sauerkraut and pork, Apfelkuchen, Peach Kuchen, and Boterkoek (which is technically Dutch, but it’s soooo good and I’ve actually made it). But I haven’t tried Lebkuchen yet, so they might make the list too. 🙂

I have not been to Germany – my brother in law and a great aunt that lived close to us and at Christmas time she would make Kuchen. I had the luxury of helping her when she made it one year it was an experience that I will never forget. I appreciated her Kuchen every year.

Yes, I have been to Germany. We did a Viking River Cruise on the Danube several years ago. We began the
cruise in Budapest, Hungary and ended in Germany. We enjoyed cuisine from each of the countries that we
we visited , with Germany being our favorite. Great food! We also had a guided tour each day in the city
where we stopped that day. It was a great cruise!
I’ve not been to Germany. I’ve made Saur Braden I think that’s the spelling. The recipe was my
Sister in law’s mother’s recipe. Very good…yum. Now it looks like I’ll be making that soon.
My very favorite German cookie is the classic shortbread crescent, dusted with powdered sugar. I believe it is called Vanillekipferl. I have never tried the Lebkuchen, but they look and sound delicious…and the tins are adorable! I did subscribe to your Substack Neil’s letter and will enjoy reading your articles! Thank you!!
