** FAQ **

  • What is a Fat Quarter? A fat quarter is half of a 1/2 yard of fabric cut WIDE so it is  18" x 20"
  • Can I use fabric that is not a FQ? Sure!
  • Can I use Stash (fabric I own) – Yes!  Pull out a bundle of beautiful fabric
  • Will I use all the fabric – Not all of it. This is to give you variety, more is better!
  • Can you show me the blocks in advance? No, it's a mystery
  • What are the Technique? – All Easy Pieced.
  • NOTE: The Blocks do NOT LOOK like the topic of the week. This is not a pictorial quilt. I do a topic as it is way more fun than just plopping out a block.  I love the memories and sometimes research that goes into the topic.  That keeps my Sew alongs fun and unique.

***Goodies for Someone!***

Leave me a comment by Jan 11 2022 – 6pm est telling me
"Something you love about Brownies!" (I sure hope you love them but if not… oh well!)

Goodies go to Suzanne Y  who said " I love brownies! I do make both box and from scratch. On special occasions I make Cinnamon Brownies with walnuts and topped with chocolate ganache. I have to run now. Going up to the grand babies but will share the recipe on the cooking group later. Have a great day"

  1. I love brownies! We like to make the cake style with added chocolate chips. I like walnuts in them , but family does not. Your block is beautiful.

  2. I love brownies and like your family, the edge pieces are my favorite. I’ve seen those pans, but haven’t tried one for my husband’s favorite is the gooey center brownies. I generally don’t put nuts in my brownies because my husband doesn’t care for them. However, have you tried pecan pie brownies? Oh, they are wonderful. I enjoy watching your daily videos. Thank you so much.

  3. Brownies are the best! I put little tid-bits in mine when I bake them. Sort of like going through my fabric scrap bin, I look for bits of M&Ms, Reeces, Skor bars, nuts and mix them right in. So good!

  4. Here in Texas, we love our brownies with extra chunks of pecans! YUM! I would gladly send you Texas sized pecans for your brownies if you would like to try. I can’t imagine a brownie without pecans.
Also, I very much enjoy your Wednesday’s mystery block. Thank you!
    Becky 🙂

  5. I love brownies right out of the oven when they are still hot and gooey. I don’t care much for nuts but please add extra chocolate chips!

  6. I love, Love, LOVE brownies…. and they absolutely MUST have nuts in them, preferably walnuts. It’s traditional at its finest!! Of course the corners are best and edges will do, so I NEED to buy that nifty pan!

  7. YUM! Brownies! (no nuts, they’re not named Nut Brownies) And the fabric would be perfect for Oh My Stars. I make OMS quilts for Toys for Tots.

  8. I love brownies, I may be a chocoholic. I would add pecans, I do use a mix most times double chocolate is always good. Love the colors on that block today.

  9. We love brownies at our house. I also use a mix and add to it to make it mine. The pan would not work for us because my daughter likes only the middle one, I like the edges and my husband will eat anthing. Thanks for all you do.

  10. Great recipe is from an Elementary School Cookbook my class made for Mother’s Day, close to 60 years ago. Uses ingredients most have in cupboards.

  11. Oh goodness, I LOVE brownies! But I like fudgey chewy brownies and always the centers! We love the triple chocolate, add extra chocolate chips or caramel bits and pecans. YUM!

  12. I love brownies. I especially love the corners and everyone knows it! Looking forward to making the block today and dreaming of warm chocolate brownies.

  13. My family and friends all love my brownies. I too use a mix and it usually is a Duncan Hines or store brand. I add walnuts but my secret ingredient is coconut. I make them chewy and just typing this makes me hungry.
Your videos get my day started with a positive boost. Thank you so much.

  14. I’ve been making the brownie recipe from the Boston Museum of Fine Arts cookbook (circa 1970s) for decades: they are dead simple and soooooo good.
Most folks know the chocolate chip cookie recipe by heart; I know this brownie recipe by heart! My improvement on that recipe is to add a ribbon of cheesecake batter swirled into them for Cheesecake Brownies. They are phenomenal and are the family favorite.

  15. I happen to be a brownie snob. My mom always made her brownies from scratch and I took her recipe and changed it up and made it my own. Since I have a farm and have ducks on it, I use duck eggs in the recipe. It is a simple recipe. It takes no time to make and they never last long in my house. Over the years I have friends who request them when they want brownies and they always ask me to make them when they are having a dinner party. Just made a batch New Years Day to take over to a friend’s house and we were 5 people there and I came home with an empty pan. Recipe: 1cup butter melted, 3/4 cup cocoa, 2 cups sugar, 4 chicken eggs (or) 2 duck eggs, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 1/4 cups flour, 1tsp baking powder, 1tsp salt and 1 cup of nuts. Mix butter, cocoa and Sugar..add eggs one at a time mix well, add vanilla, Mix flour, salt and baking powder together add to wet mixture.. add nuts bake 350 30 min

  16. I love brownies, and I love to make them for others. My favorites have nuts and chips in them. Thanks for sharing the brownie pan, I didn’t know about the pan!

  17. Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. I love everything chocolate and warm, fudgy brownies are simply the best!

  18. Yes Love brownies! all kinds, no nuts. I have wanted to try blond brownies, maybe today is the day to try! Great giveaway! and downloaded the sweater block.

  19. OMG! I was surprised that you love the Ghirardelli Brownies, too! My favorite is the DOUBLE Chocolate flavor (of course, I wouldn’t turn down ANY of them! You have me tempted with that cool pan! I really would like the goody package today. Already have plans for that fabric! Enjoy your winter weather! Thank you, Pat!

  20. Our family loves brownies. We are gluten free and make them with the King Arthur Brownie Mix. We also add walnuts. A scoop of vanilla ice cream and we are in heaven. I am very excited to participate in this sew along, love the fabric.

  21. I am not a fan of chocolate hence I do not eat brownies but I still make them for my family that loves chocolate. I do add nuts and chocolate chips in them.

  22. Love my grandma’s brownie recipe. It’s from the early 1900’s and uses 1/2 dozen eggs for a 9×9 pan! But they are soooooo good!
Thank you for your videos and tips/tricks. Being a newer quilter, you’ve been a wonderful teacher!

  23. We love brownies in our house! We make them plain Jane with no nuts or chips, fudgy with a sprinkle of powdered sugar on top!

  24. I have a special brownie pan as well. It’s a pan with 24 squares much looks a muffin pan but squares. Everyone gets 4 sides of the crust! Our family loves brownies as well!! We use the same mix as you.
    Blessings,
    Dina

  25. We, my husband and I love brownies. I guess this is our go to dessert. When I make them, I always use walnuts and always put chocolate icing on them. If I get fancy, I’ll put a walnut half on top.
I watch your you-tube channel every day, I think your great.
    Thank Patty Mayhew

  26. I love brownies. My favorite part is the outside crusty part with the inside being gooey and chewy. Nothing better than a coffee and a dark chocolate chewy brownie. I also love the looks of this block. Can’t wait to get started

  27. I love, love, love, brownies, but you can keep the walnuts. I also love watching your video, you’re so cute how you giggle…..

  28. I love your “Edge “ pan! Brilliant idea. I’m sure all of the the brownies are done and not just the outside. I tend to stay away from any nuts as my son is allergic. But, I love walnuts! Have a wonderful day!

  29. My family loves brownies, However, they all grab the middles first, my husband is the only one that likes the edges! I sometimes add almond extract to mine. I also like butterscotch brownies, but unfortunately, no one else likes them, so I don’t make them often.

  30. I like moist brownies and nuts are a requirement. Enjoy watching your videos and learning new tips and tricks.

  31. Your fabric is beautiful! I love brownies… I love them gooey with lots of chips in them. I don’t make them very often, but I might have to make some tonight! Thank you for everything you do. This is my first sew along with you – I’m so excited! Thank you for the giveaway!

  32. I love brownies especially dark chocolate. My oldest granddaughter loves to make brownies when she comes to our house.

  33. I love brownies! I prefer them with nuts, but the husband doesn’t care for them. I also like to make the cake-like brownies.
I don’t have the special pan but I did get it for one of our daughters for Christmas one year. Maybe I will get one for myself.

  34. Ok to be totally honest, my Family was raised on brownies because I could cook the whole pan at once. I hate cooking cookies because you have to stay in the kitchen and cook multiple pans. I like to think I am to busy for that, but it might be I am just lazy.😉 #cakebrowniearethebest

  35. Love the brownies but no walnuts at our house are allergic to them. Instead of adding the water I add cold coffee which adds a richer flavor to the brownies. Now I’m craving brownies I guess I’ll bake today. Thanks Pat for all your great quilting videos.

  36. Love brownies Especially Ghiradelli always add Pecans & Love to melt caramel and Swirl through brownie mix before baking. Serving with a scoop of ice cream. 😋 Need to get the special brownie pan.
