** FAQ **

  • What is a Fat Quarter? A fat quarter is half of a 1/2 yard of fabric cut WIDE so it is  18" x 20"
  • Can I use fabric that is not a FQ? Sure!
  • Can I use Stash (fabric I own) – Yes!  Pull out a bundle of beautiful fabric
  • Will I use all the fabric – Not all of it. This is to give you variety, more is better!
  • Can you show me the blocks in advance? No, it's a mystery
  • What are the Technique? – All Easy Pieced.
  • NOTE: The Blocks do NOT LOOK like the topic of the week. This is not a pictorial quilt. I do a topic as it is way more fun than just plopping out a block.  I love the memories and sometimes research that goes into the topic.  That keeps my Sew alongs fun and unique.

***Goodies for Someone!***

Leave me a comment by Jan 11 2022 – 6pm est telling me
"Something you love about Brownies!" (I sure hope you love them but if not… oh well!)

Goodies go to Suzanne Y  who said " I love brownies! I do make both box and from scratch. On special occasions I make Cinnamon Brownies with walnuts and topped with chocolate ganache. I have to run now. Going up to the grand babies but will share the recipe on the cooking group later. Have a great day"

  1. We use an old Hershey’s brownie recipe and friends request our brownies. I like to substitute 3/4 regular cocoa and 1/4 dark for a richer brownie. Love chips and nuts in them. When my kids were homeschooled, baking brownies was a part of our math curriculum.

  2. Had to giggle when I first watched on You Tube, that was our dessert last night. My daughter made German Chocolate Frosting to top it. It was delicious. Thanks for keeping us entertained and active during these rough times.

  3. I love brownies!!! All kinds and especially the edge pieces. I have often thought about getting that pan but didn’t know anyone with one. Thank you. My favorite thing to add on top of brownies is a little bit of caramel drops or raspberries.

  4. I love the brownie recipe my husband found in his King Arthur Cookbook, Grandma’s Brownies. I told him to make more and sell them, but he never did. He truly read cookbooks like novels, from cover to cover! We also like the blonde brownies made from scratch with chocolate chips or Smack Cakes that our family has made for years and years and handed down over the generations. Yummy all. Put in nuts or chocolate chips, anything makes them great or greater.

  5. My husband and I both love brownies. I am not a nut in soft food person. Textures matter!🤣I do have a home made recipe that I love, but box mix is great too.
Brownie recipe. Preheat oven to 350
    1 cup melted butter
    4 oz. Unsweetened chocolate
    1 tsp. Baking Powder
    1 1/2 tsp salt
    4 eggs
    2 cups sugar
    2 tsp vanilla
    1 1/2 cups of flour
I melt the butter and unsweetened chocolate in the microwave, mix all the rest of the ingredients, and bake in a 9×13” pan for 15 to 20 minutes or until a knife comes out clean.

  6. Brownies! What’s not to love? Cool pan you showed…never tried one like that. Love the edges of the brownies best!

  7. I love brownies with no nuts, I like them more dense. I have not made them forever I also like the Ghirardelli brand I don’t know why the box is so much better than homemade.

  8. I love brownies with peanut butter or Reece’s peanut butter cups in them! Yummy 😋 Also I love brownies with walnuts too!

  9. I adore warm, moist brownies with a glass of cold milk!!! I eat the center and leave the edges for my hubby 🙂

  10. What do I love about brownies…hmm. First off they are made from chocolate which is always a plus. Always make the chewy, rich kind. I call them a comfort food.

  11. I have to agree, the box brownie mixes are great, but also make them from scratch. Any kind of brownie sounds good to me.

  12. I love brownies – chewy ones! I am a box kind of girl, too! I have made from scratch, but I think the box is better (and easier). I am different from your family – I love the centers! That leaves the edges for hubby! Thanks for all you do to keep us sane and sewing!

  13. I love brownies but I like the centers not the edges. I use a mix but now I will look for the one mentioned in the video today.

  14. I love brownies. I like the ones that are more cake like. Adding in extra chocolate chips is great also.

  15. I LOVE brownies – especially with black walnuts. Can’t wait to start this sew along and BAKE along. Love ya! Deb

  16. I not a brownie lover but the rest of the family loves them, like that brownie cake pan, I.l have to get one🤗 thanks Carol

  17. I love brownies. My favorite recipe is the one on the Hershey’s cocoa can. I’m looking forward to the Sweet Dreams quilt, as well as several others. Your videos are so fun to watch.

  18. Brownies are my son’s favorite desert so I make them more often than other deserts. Thinking I’d better invest in the pan.

  19. Brownies are a favorite and it’s been too long since I’ve made some. I grew up with pecans instead of walnuts in everything so I prefer them but walnuts are great too, more my adult taste. I’ve even made some with pine nuts before and those were lovely.

  20. I love thick, chewy brownies with pecans, not walnuts!!! I, also, enjoy them more if they have chocolate pieces throughout! YUM!!!

  21. I love brownies but only homemade ones. I am very particular about using organic ingredients and coconut oil or butter instead of the hydrogenated oils that are so bad for your health. ( not that sugar is healthy but I excuse my self sometimes)

  22. Brownies are a family favourite. I love to add milk chocolate chips for an extra chocolate richness. We like the soft and chewy variety without a crust, my daughter cuts the crust off, lol. Mini brownie bites are awesome for a part, yum.

  23. Who doesn’t like a brownie? So funny to tell you this that my family doesn’t like the edges so I cut them off before I cut the brownies into squares!

  24. My dad makes really great brownies that my sewing group asks for when we have our retreats. I love them with chocolate chips inside, no nuts and center cut. Yummm. This looks like another fun quilt along. Thanks for your hard work and ideas.

  25. I love brownies, especially the Ghirardelli, but no nuts! I eat a lot of meals with my older son who happens to live closest to me, and we have brownies for dessert often. Funny thing is that he’s quite health conscious, but he’ll give it up for a good brownie!

  26. I love brownies and I love the edges! I need to get that pan. I like extra chocolate chips and pecans added to mine.

  27. I love Brownies! They remind me of my Dad. Dad loved it when I made Brownies, especially with nuts and powder sugar on top! They were, “tasty little dudes” according to him.

  28. My Mom made brownies a lot. She used a mix too, but she added more to the mix. Chocolate chips, nuts, coconut were common additions. Sometimes she frosted them. Sometimes she sifted some powdered sugar on top. We could have used that edge pan!

  29. I love brownies and make them for family picnics in the summer, I use a recipe a friend gave and make them from scratch with chocolate chunks in them. Looking forward to doing the the Sweet Dreams sew along!

  30. We love brownies! My secret is to add a little espresso; coffee + chocolate = yum!
I’ve always been a strip cutter with FQS, and you end up with a little baggie of unusable, oddly shaped scraps.
I can hear my quilt teacher from 30 years ago in my head saying: “Who wants holes left in your fabric?”
Thank you for giving us “ permission “ to have holey fabric!! Lol!

  31. I like brownies when they are slightly chewy (not fudge) and the edges are my favorite part. My youngest son absolutely hates nuts … and I love nuts in my brownies. So, I would make one half of the pan with nuts. Oh, the conniptions that would take place if one of those nuts dared to migrate to the “No nut” side of the pan … LOL.

  32. Brownies are not our family favorite. We like them but lemon meringue pie is the top of the list here! Love your videos as they help us all keep our mind off the pandemic that unfortunately is still carrying on😢

  33. I love brownies (hold the nuts please) 🙂 I like the recipe in the Betty Crocker cookbook if I make them from scratch. Going to challenge myself on this project, I have a kit that I will not make the assigned pattern in colorway outside my comfort zone. See if I can squeeze out this quilt from it! Thanks for keeping me company during my morning coffee!!!

  34. Ghirardelli brownies are the best and they are our favorite brand, but really I don’t think you can go wrong with Brownies. Soft and chewy with chocolate chunks, with or crispy without edges. I would love to have nuts, but not at my house. Just all of that dense chocolatey goodness! YUM! Thanks Pat for the great giveaway goodie bag! Such a treat!

  35. I love chewy brownies. I like to add a small bag of Reeses Pieces to my brownie mix. I like the mix with the Hershey syrup pouch.

  36. I love brownies without nuts but with milk chocolate frosting and a glass of cold milk. Thanks for all you do for us. Going to order the same fabric your using this one is a must to do.

  37. Love Brownies but I’ve always made them from scratch using the recipe on the Fry’s Cocoa tin. Must have walnuts and a thin layer of butter icing.
