** FAQ **

  • What is a Fat Quarter? A fat quarter is half of a 1/2 yard of fabric cut WIDE so it is  18" x 20"
  • Can I use fabric that is not a FQ? Sure!
  • Can I use Stash (fabric I own) – Yes!  Pull out a bundle of beautiful fabric
  • Will I use all the fabric – Not all of it. This is to give you variety, more is better!
  • Can you show me the blocks in advance? No, it's a mystery
  • What are the Technique? – All Easy Pieced.
  • NOTE: The Blocks do NOT LOOK like the topic of the week. This is not a pictorial quilt. I do a topic as it is way more fun than just plopping out a block.  I love the memories and sometimes research that goes into the topic.  That keeps my Sew alongs fun and unique.

***Goodies for Someone!***

Leave me a comment by Jan 11 2022 – 6pm est telling me
"Something you love about Brownies!" (I sure hope you love them but if not… oh well!)

Goodies go to Suzanne Y  who said " I love brownies! I do make both box and from scratch. On special occasions I make Cinnamon Brownies with walnuts and topped with chocolate ganache. I have to run now. Going up to the grand babies but will share the recipe on the cooking group later. Have a great day"

  1. If it’s chocolate I’m all over it! Unfortunately I have to hide them from my son who has the terrible habit of cutting the middle out!!!(he doesn’t like the edges)

  2. I love brownies, although I make cookies more often. I usually use a mix these days, but Ghiradelli has a great from scratch recipe too. My secret ingredient is using orange infused olive oil in place of the plain oil. Scrumptious! My sister is allergic to walnuts, but not pecans, so I now use pecans when bringing them to a family event.

  3. NUTs-NUTs, it is all about the nuts.I love them enveloped in chocolate loveliness. The darker the chocolate the better. I can never wait for brownie to cool.YUMMY!

  4. Yum! Browniesā£ļø I like pecans better than walnuts and having dark chocolate chips in brownies makes them extra special. This morning’s episode was especially informative. Thank you for sharing how you cut your fabric and have such little waste.

  5. I love brownies, I use the recipe on the back of the Hershey’s cocoa can using real butter. I add Hershey syrup to the batter as well, I don’t usually measure that but “feel” it, probably somewhere around 1/3 to 1/2 cup, makes them good & fudgy. I don’t mind nuts in them but my family doesn’t care for them so I leave them out. This is my first sew along, I am still gathering my fabrics, my extra yardage should arrive today and I am going to my LQS for my background on my lunch break. I picked Gingham Gardens by Riley Blake for this sew along, I can’t wait to get started!

  6. I LOVE brownies. Like you, I use a box & I prefer dark chocolate brownies. I’ll add chocolate chips if I buy a brand that doesn’t include them. But NO nuts of any kind for me. I’m not allergic; I just don’t like nuts — in anything! My extra touch is to sometimes frost the brownies with either vanilla cream cheese frosting or dark chocolate fudge frosting. Both come straight from a can. YUMMY!

  7. Hi! Let’s just say brownies in my family do not last the day (probably because we leave the pan on the counter with a knife to cut a piece as you pass by). We also use brownie mixes – and usually keep one or two gluten free mixes on hand.
I asked my son if he liked only brownies with the edges – he said he likes them all!
You have such great videos and offer so much information. I especially like how you show how to choose fabric combinations and the latest in how to be frugal in your cutting (makes so much sense!).
Blessings to you and hope you are healing fast after your surgery. Take care!
    Elaine

  8. Brownies in that zig zag pan would be a mighty fine idea! I use Duncan Hines mixes and love, love love walnuts in my brownies. You are so generous having a giveaway!

  9. I use the Brownie mix you do and add in walnuts too. We eat our brownies with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

  10. I love brownies! I love thinner, chewy, gooey brownies. I also use the Ghirardelli mixes. They are the best. There’s nothing like a warm, gooey briwnie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and then a big drizzle of salted caramel! Yumm…..

  11. Brownies are my favorite too. I do make them from scratch and I add Hershey’s special dark cocoa to mine along with the chocolate chips(of which I also use dark chocolate chips). Are you noticing a theme here? And of course what brownie is not complete with out the nuts. My favorite is walnuts, but if I am out I will use pecans. I do need one of those brownie pans for sure.

  12. You can’t beat brownies!!! I love them but have to find ways to make them gluten free. My favorites are made by adding caramels to the batter for extra added deliciousness!
Pat, you are part of my morning routine and your videos are great way to start the day!!! Loved the brownie block! ā¤ļø

  13. I just made brownies for my teenagers the other day! The brownies didn’t last long. I think I got only one.

  14. I love brownies with pecans or walnuts. I especially love a box mix that comes with a cookie dough mix that you pour over the brownie mix. Oh, so delicious! Love the Brownie block. It would make a beautiful quilt with just that block. I can’t wait to see all the blocks.

  15. I love my brownies without nuts- just plain with chocolate chips. My sister did give me a recipe for Brownies that called for a whole can of Hershey syrup. The recipe said to only make it to take to a party. Never leave a whole pan for yourself at home. It took me about 30 years to finally make it. My kids like the gooey centers so your wonderful pan would never fly at my house. Thanks for the great share and sweet dreams to everyone

  16. My husband loves brownies but will only eat the edges. I will have to purchase your secret ingredient…bet it’ll be a hit! Thanks for sharing.

  17. We love brownies! We also use Ghiardelli, but haven’t added walnuts. We will have to try that! I’m not a brownie edge person though, lol.
Thank you for taking the time to do all the videos.

  18. I love the edges,my dil loves the middle so we share. I like to frost with thin layer of peppermint frosting.

  19. I love my brownies very fudgy with lots of walnuts. My grandmother always made her brownies with one walnut half placed on the surface of each square so that anyone who did not like the nuts could pick it off. Most of us liked the nuts!

  20. I love brownies with nuts. We fight over the edge pieces so the pan you use is great. I would love to win your giveaway. Thank you for all your videos. Happy New Year Pat.

  21. I LOVE brownies! And I need to get one of those edge pans…that’s definitely the best part! I do prefer chewy, vs. cakey, brownies. BTW, I’m afraid this quilt might not be good for my diet!

  22. My favourite desserts are Brownies and Buttertarts. But the Buttertarts have to be my grandmothers, runny!
As they don’t always turn out runny I guess that makes Brownies more popular.

  23. My friend, Sue makes the best brownies. She is always trying new recipes. Can’t wait to give her the Edges brownie pan.
    (Hope she doesn’t read this)

  24. Love love love brownies. It is cold, blustery and snowing here in MI. I’m going to go make some homemade brownies.

  25. I add cooked beetroot cut in small chunks to my brownie recipe as well as chocolate chips, it is very moreish! Thanks for the giveaway

  26. I love brownies, don’t put nuts in the batter but put them on top of frosting as I’m the only one that likes nuts

  27. Love Brownies and also use Ghirardelli mix but use pecans. Sometimes add extra chocolate chips -Yummmmm! Looking forward to this Sweet Dream sew along!

  28. I love, Love, LOVE Brownies and Ghiradelli mixes are the best! I request Ghiradelli brownies for my birthday because it’s something my husband and small children can make for me. Thanks Pat for the beautiful brownie block!

  29. I love brownies and like you, I use a mix. I add walnuts and chocolate chips, sometimes coconut, because I love that too. 😊 I had not seen that brownie pan. Love it!!

  30. What is not to like about brownies! I like to put chocolate chips in mine as well. And that brownie pan is so interesting, but I’m not that fond of the edges so that would be a ‘no’ to have in my house.

  31. hi pat i love all the desserts with chocolate, specially the brownies with vainilla ice cream and the mousse mmmmmm. good year from mexico city

  32. We all love brownies in my family. It’s a staple. I really try all different kinds but it seems the favorite is the one with the chips in. I am so looking forward to sweet dreams! I love the Flurry fabric you used!!!

  33. Brownies are the best. When I was working I would make turtle brownies to share. They had nuts and caramel. In those days I made them from scratch. Now you can buy a mix!

  34. I love brownies, although I love anything chocolate! Chocolate, chocolate, everything chocolate! I like the crispy outer edges and the softer centers. Yum!

  35. I love brownies! I agree that the Ghirardelli’s mixes are the BEST! I like the center pieces! I love the ooey, gooey centersšŸ˜‹.
I also love the sweater quilt. I was wondering if the material was still available. Thank you Pat for your videos, I love spending time with you each day, my friend!šŸ’œ

  36. You know I haven’t made brownies in a long time. I don’t think I’ve met one I didn’t like. So today when my grand daughter comes over we will make some and I know she will want marshmallows on top.

  37. I love brownies too! Box mix does just as well as homemade and there are many choices to choose. I think I will make a pan today!! Thank you so much for all that you share.

  38. Fresh-baked brownies are the best—especially homemade brownies! Can’t resist the chewy cakiness. of my all-time favorite dessert bar!! Need to try that brownie baking pan—great idea.
