** FAQ **

  • What is a Fat Quarter? A fat quarter is half of a 1/2 yard of fabric cut WIDE so it is  18" x 20"
  • Can I use fabric that is not a FQ? Sure!
  • Can I use Stash (fabric I own) – Yes!  Pull out a bundle of beautiful fabric
  • Will I use all the fabric – Not all of it. This is to give you variety, more is better!
  • Can you show me the blocks in advance? No, it's a mystery
  • What are the Technique? – All Easy Pieced.
  • NOTE: The Blocks do NOT LOOK like the topic of the week. This is not a pictorial quilt. I do a topic as it is way more fun than just plopping out a block.  I love the memories and sometimes research that goes into the topic.  That keeps my Sew alongs fun and unique.

***Goodies for Someone!***

Leave me a comment by Jan 11 2022 – 6pm est telling me
"Something you love about Brownies!" (I sure hope you love them but if not… oh well!)

Goodies go to Suzanne Y  who said " I love brownies! I do make both box and from scratch. On special occasions I make Cinnamon Brownies with walnuts and topped with chocolate ganache. I have to run now. Going up to the grand babies but will share the recipe on the cooking group later. Have a great day"

  1. Are you kidding? Who doesn’t like brownies? I love them all. Centers and edges both. I love to add stuff to them. Sometimes its walnuts and chocolate chips, sometimes coconut and almond chunks. But I need the gluten free ones. I like the Krusteaz brand the best out of the ones I tried. Looking forward to this sew a long with all the desserts. I will have to be careful to not add another 20 pounds just talking about them.

  2. I love all brownies, the chocolatey-er the better! I just don’t like how much self control it takes to not eat the whole pan at once.

  3. We LOVE brownies in our house too. My mother in law bought me an edge pan for Christmas a couple years ago. Different than yours but same principle. I always toast pecans and add them to the brownies. Yummy . My husband prefers pecans to walnuts, toasted walnuts would be good too 🤗
So excited for this sew along. Thanks for all your hard work putting this together!

  4. I love to make brownies and I also use Ghirardelli’s when I don’t make them homemade. I leave the walnuts out and my family fights over the middle section. I think I will have to make some brownies today now! Yum! Thanks for all you do Pat!

  5. My whole family loves brownies. I’m still trying to perfect a Turtle Brownie with pecans, caramel sauce and chocolate frosting. Getting closer to a favorite bakery in Ontario which we haven’t been able to travel to in 2 years now. Being from Michigan, we used to visit fairly often. Maybe again some day.

  6. Brownies?!? Ha, if it has sugar I’m there. Is it called DESSERT? Yup, right there.
But seriously, PIE! You can never get enough pie.
Thank you for helping me be a better sewist, quilter, cross stitcher. You should probably have PhD behind your name because you have helped more people stay sane.
Blessings to you Pat and thank you!

  7. Brownies have always been my favorite ! When we got married, I tried to talk my husband into wedding brownies instead of a wedding cake! 😂 he said no 😢.
When I was a kid I made some brownies and set them on the stove to cook and bumped the burner on and almost started a fire!

  8. Love Brownies. Especially with walnuts, but the walnuts have to be fresh, not starting to go rancid. As a kid I didn’t like them because I think my momma kept the same walnut stash for years lol. Anyway I do have a hard time getting my share of the brownies now, because my hubby loves them even more and is always in the kitchen getting another piece until they are gone.

  9. I am a chocoholic so brownies are one of my favorites. I prefer them with nuts, so when I make them I have to make two batches because my husband likes them without nuts. That’s ok because it means more brownies for me.

  10. I love putting a caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream on top of warm, fresh from the oven brownies!!! OMG sooooooo good!!!!

  11. I love making brownies from scratch I add peanut butter chips to mine
Peanut butter and chocolate go great together

  12. I love love Brownies!!! There is another special pan that has a divider in it that makes brownies with all four sides cooked edges.

  13. I also love brownies, and I use the pan that has individual squares, which also creates edges on each one. The edges are the best! I love to make brownies that have a cheesecake topping. So delicious!

  14. I love warm gooey brownies. I eat the center first. Walnuts are the best addition.
Brownies are my downfall when I’m trying to loose pounds.

  15. I do like brownies. I don’t make them often, just because I’d eat the whole pan, in just a few days. I like fudgy brownies, but with crispy edges, so I think the pan you use would be wonderful.
Great block. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.

  16. We love our brownies! I do them from scratch, but leave out the nuts, as some of our friends have nut allergies. I especially love to use ‘chunk chocolate’ pieces, but they are hard to find, so Chocolate Chips are usually used. We especially love the softer middle pieces – so no new pan for us ;).
Thanks for the lovely new block. You always make sewing fun, Pat :)!

  17. Brownies is a part of the girl guides and I loved Brownies , it was the first ever group I joined as a kid. I live in I inuivik at that time and we had my Brownie joining ceremony under the northern lights it was simply magical to a little girl me .

  18. The center of the brownie is my favorite. Last brownies I made, I put Reeses peanut butter cup chunks in it. Thanks Pat for all you do!!!

  19. Brownies are one of my favorites, but I like mine on the soft chewy side. Of course they have to have walnuts in them. I like your idea to have larger walnuts and break them up. Love the block and fabrics. Thanks for the fun. Oh the all edge pan for baking was interesting.

  20. Love brownies and so easy to make. Thank you so much for sharing the special pan you use can’t wait to get one.
Really enjoy my first cup of coffee each morning with you, I am learning so much.

  21. I loved brownies. I got my recipe from my mother-in-law, bought the same baking pan as her but they never turned out as good as hers was. She lived in Calgary which has a higher elevation than where we live- maybe that was the difference. Missing Mom and her brownies!

  22. I am a chocoholic and love brownies. I love watching you videos while I ride my exercise bike every morning. Hadn’t quilted in many years and you inspired me to start again and try new things. Thank you Pat.

  23. My family loves brownies especially when served with good vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. I use a pan from Pampered Chef that makes individual brownies so all the edges are crispy. Pecans are my favorite nut to include in brownies. YUM

  24. Yum, brownies are delicious. Even better with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! This makes me long for summer. Happy New Yeae!

  25. I love brownies….love the edge ones as well. To early to make them cos I’d end up eating the whole pan all by myself

  26. I love all kinds of brownies but my favorite is the fudge brownies. I also put walnuts in them. I used to make them and take them to work and everyone raved about them. That was many years ago. lol Good times.

  27. I love to make brownies with my grandson. It’s a great bonding experience and we get to eat brownies!

  28. I prefer a slightly gooey brownie. Nuts are a must. Walnuts or pecans. I don’t make them often because I would eat them all!

  29. I LOVE brownies! They are my go-to dessert when we have friends over. they are yummy by themselves, or warmed up and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

  30. Brownies get 5 stars in my book…..especially the star in our “brownie” block you shared with us this morning. I love brownies……I love to make stars!!!

  31. I love brownies but now they have to be gluten-free. I love adding nuts to brownies too. Love your daily (almost) videos! Would love to win the gift bag and fabric. Definitely would make the Oh My Stars!!

  32. We love chewy brownies without nuts. I have a metal pan with an insert that makes all brownies edge pieces. They should so good, I may have to make some soon!

  33. When I was pregnant with my 1st, I couldn’t get enough brownies. Dark chocolate fudge brownies. I’m not strictly an edge person. Love the soft chewy centers a bit more. Also , I prefer Female Brownies (no nuts) lol

  34. I like box brownies from a mix from ALDI. I do add walnuts occasionally. Edges are my favorite part and I have a pan but not the same as yours. I also love the batter which I probably shouldn’t consume before baking.

  35. We love brownies here at our house. My kids like chocolate chips in theirs. I like cream cheese brownies, where you make the brownie mix and then you mix cream cheese, egg, and sugar in so it makes the brownies look marbled.

  36. Pat I love the gooey chewy brownies with extra chocolate pieces in them. Yum yum!
Your block is gorgeous, I love how you choose fabric. 😘

  37. Love gooey brownies!! Love to have chocolate chips and walnuts in it too. We take the brownies out of the oven right before it is completely done in the middle. As it cools, it is still cooking in the middle because that helps make it a bit gooey.

  38. My favorite brownie is a blonde brownie made with brown sugar and no chocolate. It was the one my mother always made and usually did not have nuts. The recipe I make most now is “Maggie’s Decadent Brownies” recipe by Paula Deen because it is my granddaughters’ favorite.

  39. My favorite things about brownies is when…….my daughter makes them! LOL We like them a little gooey in the middle and crusty on the sides and she does them perfectly!

  40. LOVE brownies! I am the only one in my family that prefers the edges…score! I also prefer larger walnut pieces and more cake-like. Sometimes I do use almonds instead of walnuts.
