** FAQ **

  • What is a Fat Quarter? A fat quarter is half of a 1/2 yard of fabric cut WIDE so it is  18" x 20"
  • Can I use fabric that is not a FQ? Sure!
  • Can I use Stash (fabric I own) – Yes!  Pull out a bundle of beautiful fabric
  • Will I use all the fabric – Not all of it. This is to give you variety, more is better!
  • Can you show me the blocks in advance? No, it's a mystery
  • What are the Technique? – All Easy Pieced.
  • NOTE: The Blocks do NOT LOOK like the topic of the week. This is not a pictorial quilt. I do a topic as it is way more fun than just plopping out a block.  I love the memories and sometimes research that goes into the topic.  That keeps my Sew alongs fun and unique.

***Goodies for Someone!***

Leave me a comment by Jan 11 2022 – 6pm est telling me
"Something you love about Brownies!" (I sure hope you love them but if not… oh well!)

Goodies go to Suzanne Y  who said " I love brownies! I do make both box and from scratch. On special occasions I make Cinnamon Brownies with walnuts and topped with chocolate ganache. I have to run now. Going up to the grand babies but will share the recipe on the cooking group later. Have a great day"

  1. I don’t make brownies now as often as I did when my kids were younger but I would take the store brand (the most inexpensive) and add a 1/2 a package of chocolate chips. Yummy. I now have the pampered chef brownie pan so that every piece has edges on all 4 sides. I haven’t used it yet but thinking I might do it soon!

  2. I love brownies but make them very often. I did think the pan you showed was interesting and if I made them a lot I would buy it. They are very good but I’m just not a baker and don’t enjoy cooking.

  3. Walnuts please in my brownies! I also like the corner piece, a lil crispy on edge and chewy in middle, not cakey.

  4. My Betty Crocker Cookbook has the best fudge brownie recipe. It also has the cake brownie recipe and they both are scrumptious! I prefer Walnuts in my Brownies and sometimes put caramel bits in them too. I like almost any kind of brownies. Have you ever made blonde brownies. They are very good too. I haven’t made them in a long time though.

  5. I love brownies they are my favorite because they are so chocolaty and the and getting an edge piece is the best, I have to order the funky brownie pan

  6. Love, love brownies. I make my mixture from ‘Betty Crocker Chocolate Fudge Brownie Mix’ here in South Australia. I don’t use a brownie or slice pan, I make mine in small muffin pans that way you get all the edge all round and the fudgy middle all in one – YUM.

  7. I love all brownies!! You can take a basic brownie and add so many things to it, chips, nut, candies, caramel, sprinkles. Yum!! Then the toppings, ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce etc,.I really love the crusty edges!! I think I’ll go make some!!

  8. My daughter‘s favorite dessert is brownies .At Christmas time we give a favorite food treat (along with presents). Her go to treat is always brownies, brownies, brownies. No nuts please just frosting. So along with the usual cookies that are baked and mailed out for family and friends, there are brownies.

  9. I love brownies, but not with nuts. My family has never cared for brownies, or cakes, or fruit breads for that matter with nuts in them. Would rather just eat those nuts separately by themselves.

  10. Love this block…..looking forward to making it soon! Thanks for all the inspiration & the link to the brownie pan! Yum

  11. Brownies are awesome! I love mine made with walnuts, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and some real maple syrup drizzled on top. What a wonderful flavor combination! I like the centers, the edges, the crumbs…..anything brownie is good for me!

  12. My family and I like ooey gooey brownies. Slightly undercooked and we take turns on who gets the center one.

  13. I love Brownies, specially with Walnuts! I am not certain if I have had from scratch brownies or not? My mother in law is 84 and she makes many of her food items from scratch. Of course her brownies are always the best. So tasty and crunchy! I will defiantly have to ask her. I have not tried your preferred brand of brownie box mix either, I’ll try those as well! Thank you for sharing!

  14. Brownies are a treat around here and there is a box on the shelf to use when the notion hits. I have seen those brownie pans but never bought one. Great idea.

  15. I love brownies, but my favorites have pecans and caramel! And we are also edge fans in my family – may have to order one of those pans.

  16. My favorite brownies are gluten free. Actually, they’re not my favorite but the only kind I can eat because of Celiac Disease. I’ve made them from scratch using 4-6 different non-wheat flours, and the easier way – a box mix. Both are pretty close to real brownies and they freeze really well especially with Chocolate Ganache frosting (which is automatically gluten free). Thanks for sharing the material and pattern. I love the little thing that holds all your tools upright. I haven’t seen that before but what a great idea.

  17. Years ago, I would “spruce up” a box brownie mix by adding strong coffee instead of the water. Sounds weird but it’s really good!

  18. Thank you. I love brownies with milk and having a project related to treats is awesome. Looking forward to more Sweet Dreams designs and treats.

  19. Any brownie is a good brownie, except really dry ones. I love that brownie pan, I have never seen that before ingenious !!

  20. I use the same brownie mix except I prefer it without the nuts😊 love your brownie block…. I think I liked th idea of the darker piece for the center, as well…… but it all looks wonderful. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to win this goodie bag💕

  21. I love brownies. I especially like to make them a stiffer dough, add a bit of orange zest and bake them as biscotti.

  22. I love brownies but haven’t tried that brand. I’ll have to try them!! What are brownies without nuts!!
I was going to skip this sew-along, nut after seeing this first block, I may have to rethink it!!

  23. Brownies are wonderful. If I make them from scratch, we love the Best-Ever Brownie recipe from my Baking with Julia cookbook. They are great by themselves, but when eaten warm with carmel sauce and vanilla ice cream, they are a decadent treat!

  24. I love the joy and big round eyes from those I bake homemade brownies for (no mixes 😊)…and of course covered in homemade chocolate frosting. I do enjoy walnuts on the frosting. And my favorite way to eat brownies is to not only share them, but to have a go at the brownies myself first to make sure they are up-to-par to share.

  25. I love brownies with pecans home made or from the box .I love the ends my husband all the centers so we have the best of both worlds.

  26. Thanks for sharing about your brownies and brownie pan. Growing up I always made brownies from scratch, but as you said brownie mixes are so good these days. Well, one evening my son informed me he needed a treat for school the next day (I know, no one else’s child has every done that!), so, I made brownies from scratch and he was amazed and said “I didn’t know you could make brownies without a mix!” Thanks for bringing that memory to mind.
