** FAQ **

  • What is a Fat Quarter? A fat quarter is half of a 1/2 yard of fabric cut WIDE so it is  18" x 20"
  • Can I use fabric that is not a FQ? Sure!
  • Can I use Stash (fabric I own) – Yes!  Pull out a bundle of beautiful fabric
  • Will I use all the fabric – Not all of it. This is to give you variety, more is better!
  • Can you show me the blocks in advance? No, it's a mystery
  • What are the Technique? – All Easy Pieced.
  • NOTE: The Blocks do NOT LOOK like the topic of the week. This is not a pictorial quilt. I do a topic as it is way more fun than just plopping out a block.  I love the memories and sometimes research that goes into the topic.  That keeps my Sew alongs fun and unique.

***Goodies for Someone!***

Leave me a comment by Jan 11 2022 – 6pm est telling me
"Something you love about Brownies!" (I sure hope you love them but if not… oh well!)

Goodies go to Suzanne Y  who said " I love brownies! I do make both box and from scratch. On special occasions I make Cinnamon Brownies with walnuts and topped with chocolate ganache. I have to run now. Going up to the grand babies but will share the recipe on the cooking group later. Have a great day"

  1. We LOVE brownies at our house! Chocolate chips (lots of them) and walnuts or pecans! Yum! Thanks, Pat, for your interesting videos. The goodie bag looks awesome! Thanks for the chance to win.

  2. I love brownies! When I was learning to cook my mom gave me a box to let me follow directions on my own. I had no clue what mix by hand meant so I literally used my hand to mix the batter. One of my mom’s favorite stories to tell about my childhood.

  3. I love brownies and will look for the premade box you use. I am a little different in that I like the center cuts of the brownies. Oh well, to each their own. Thank you for all that you do to inspire us.

  4. I really do love brownies. We have recently decided to go gluten free. King Arthur make a terrific brownie mix. Love the idea of the edge pan. I’ll have to look into that.

  5. We love brownies too… who doesn’t?? For many years I’ve made what I call “brownie bites”. I use a mini muffin pan and sprinkle with powdered sugar while they are warm. A little more work, but perfect for a tea party with fancy dishes and fruit punch in the tea pot with my 4 granddaughters. Traveling 5 hours on Friday to have a birthday tea party with my youngest granddaughter who is turning 4. Such fun. Thank you Pat! I look forward to making this quilt with you. :))

  6. I love brownies! My husband even more! We use the same mix and always add chocolate chips! Thanks for everything you do,Pat!

  7. I have been “obsessed” with chocolate since I was a toddler, so brownies are a must in my house. I use a box mix and generously sprinkle pecans on the top of the batter before baking. Looking forward to baking my brownie square this week!!

  8. Yes, I do love brownies. I generally use the Betty Crocker brand, but if you add an extra egg then about a 1/2 cup extra chocolate chips and and about 1/2 extra syrup. For me the best brownies are with the chocolate pieces and Hershey syrup. I do not like nuts in my brownies, the only nuts I do eat are cashews. Happy New Years Pat.

  9. Those brownies sound awesome. I’d like to be entered in to the giveaway as it’s so difficult to get good quilting supplies here in Scotland.

  10. The brownies are most definitely a favorite with my children and grandchildren. We make brownies just because. Some like them with the walnuts and some don’t so we make both! ❤️ The favorite piece here is the chewy center. I am so excited to get started on this SAL. Sweet Dreams! 🍡🍬🍭🍫🍪 Happy Sewing 😍

  11. Brownies, Brownies, Brownies! My husband loves Brownies. He’s allergic to chocolate, but he loves Brownies. I do not make him brownies (allergic and has breathing issues when he eats them), but our friend occasionally sneaks him a batch, all soft and gooey. He likes the inside only, and her husband likes the outside pieces only… so it’s a win for both guys.
I’m more of a salty crunchy snack girl…but my I do love a good chocolate chip cookie.

  12. Good morning Pat,
My family also loves brownies. We love the fudgy brownies. I also use a box mix… life is too short…my addition is to add instant espresso to the water, just a teaspoon. It brings out the chocolate flavor. My family also like pecans.
Thanks for the free quilt-alongs you provide. I truly appreciate your videos.

  13. I love the edge of brownies just like you and your family. Any nuts are always a bonus. I will also add peanut butter sometimes, because chocolate and peanut butter are always a winning combination! On a personal note, been thinking of you often since the passing of our mutual friend Cindy. Hope you are doing well. Thanks for your sew alongs.

  14. We love brownies! We make half with nuts, half without for the on nut folks. Prefer them more chewy, and especially with vanilla or peppermint ice cream-yummmmm. Love that pan Pat.

  15. Brownies are always a winner for family and friends. However, one of my favorites is Blondies. For Christmas this year, I tried something new. I added candied fruit (fruitcake fruit) instead of coconut to the walnuts in the batter. Amazing! Thanks for the “Sweet Dreams.” I’m making it for my new granddaughter coming in March. Love to watch every day.

  16. I love brownies with chopped walnuts as well. I love to eat a warm brownie with vanilla bean ice cream. I also like my brownies to be “cake like”. My son’s favorite is also brownies with powdered sugar on top. Thank you for sharing the brownie pan @Pat Sloan. I’m going to purchase one. The best part of the brownie is the edges.

  17. Boy Howdy! Do I ever love chocolate brownies?! I do not make brownies often because I can eat a pan of them within just a few hours of making them..at the most, they never last more than 3 days…that is because I have to share with my husband and he doesn’t really care for them, LOL. My favorite scratch recipe comes from the Betty Crocker original cookbook. I still own my Mother’s copy and she turns 100 on Sept 13th this year. Duncan Hines is my favorite box mix and I currently make a sugar free box mix to cut back on our sugar intake. Your giveaway sounds so fantastic and oh, to have some of your left over scraps is my own personal dream. Thanks! Now, I think I must go make a pan of scratch Brownies, adding my very own hulled and picked out Black Walnuts…Yum, Yum! Missouri Black Walnuts are superb!

  18. I also love brownies! Extra chocolate chips in the mix is always good. Also when they come out of the oven, put them individually on a plate with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the top and some whipped cream!

  19. Love brownies. I make a recipe called speed brownies few ingredients. Love my brownies to be soft and chewy.

  20. LOVE the edges of brownies! I always tried to add things to my brownies when my kids were growing up (my favorite was coconut) but my kids always liked them best without any additions-just the plain box mix!

  21. I love the chewy brownie the best. Like you I just use a brownie mix. There are some good ones out there.

  22. I love Brownies especially with the cholclate chips. I have never seen a pan like yours before. Thanks for all the sew alongs. Glad you have healed quickly after your op. Stay safe.

  23. I love my brownies moist but not super goey. My family does not like the edges. Add ons are pecans, chocolate chips or peanut butter chips.

  24. Brownies are my favorite too! Yes to walnuts also. No icing for me – just want to enjoy the dark chocolate goodness. Love the first block and the layout. Thank you for all you do for our sewing community😊

  25. I love brownies especially the edges. I don’t have the edge pan yet. I used to make mine from scratch. Now I buy a mix. I like the fudgier ones. and the thicker the better. I also make a brownie icing. So good!!!

  26. I did not know Ghirardelli made a brownie mix. This may be my downfall now. I love brownies with walnuts and a rich chocolate icing.

  27. Oh how I love cake type brownies but my husband and son’s love fudge brownies. Sometimes when I pull the brownies out of the oven I’ll top with chocolate chips. Wait for them to melt from the heat of the brownies and spread like an icing. Sometimes I top half with pecans (for me and my hubby) and the other half sprinkles for my son’s. Usually they can’t wait long enough for that, but I at least try to do a lite dusting of powder sugar. I will most definitely be looking into getting a edge pan.

  28. I have a recipe I got from the cafeteria ladies in High School back in the 70’s. I always have to make a double batch…half for us at home and the other half for co-workers. Whenever I bring them to work, the others follow me upstairs to the breakroom to grab one before they are gone. They go fast! Some of them call them “crack brownies”. LOL

  29. I love brownies especially with walnuts. Thank you so much for starting my day off right with your wonderful videos.

  30. I love cake brownies with walnuts topped with green-colored mint frosting, then topped with chocolate frosting. 🥰

  31. Ahhhhhb! Brownies. As a child the aroma of brownies thrilled me when we got home from school. I was given a recipe for scratch brownies when I was fifteen that I still use today. I’ve thrilled my family for over fifty years with unique combinations….their favorite is peanut butter , chocolate chips or our favorite Wibur buds; second favorite is crushed candy cane with fudge ice cream topping.

  32. I love anything CHOCOLATE! Brownies are exceptionally one of my favorite. I love to add walnuts also and if they don’t have chocolate chips I use the mini chips or I use peanut butter chips. If I have time I also like a chocolate ganache icing, yummm….

  33. Brownies are a family favourite
One year I made stacks with the cut squares of brownies as a Christmas tree … dusted in icing sugar
I sometimes smuggle dates into my brownies… but please don’t tell my husband lol lol

  34. Hi Pat
I make my brownies the same way you do, except I like the middle ones, so I use a square pan. There is a lot of building new homes I’m my area. I make brownies (minus nuts) as a welcome to the neighborhood.
