** FAQ **

  • What is a Fat Quarter? A fat quarter is half of a 1/2 yard of fabric cut WIDE so it is  18" x 20"
  • Can I use fabric that is not a FQ? Sure!
  • Can I use Stash (fabric I own) – Yes!  Pull out a bundle of beautiful fabric
  • Will I use all the fabric – Not all of it. This is to give you variety, more is better!
  • Can you show me the blocks in advance? No, it's a mystery
  • What are the Technique? – All Easy Pieced.
  • NOTE: The Blocks do NOT LOOK like the topic of the week. This is not a pictorial quilt. I do a topic as it is way more fun than just plopping out a block.  I love the memories and sometimes research that goes into the topic.  That keeps my Sew alongs fun and unique.

***Goodies for Someone!***

Leave me a comment by Jan 11 2022 – 6pm est telling me
"Something you love about Brownies!" (I sure hope you love them but if not… oh well!)

Goodies go to Suzanne Y  who said " I love brownies! I do make both box and from scratch. On special occasions I make Cinnamon Brownies with walnuts and topped with chocolate ganache. I have to run now. Going up to the grand babies but will share the recipe on the cooking group later. Have a great day"

  1. I love brownies – they are soft & chewy, but not quite a cake. When my kids were little I had a quick recipe called Busy Day Brownies that whipped up quickly!

  2. We love brownies in our home. I make mine from a box and add about 1 Tbsp of instant coffee to the mix. It brightens up the chocolate flavor.

  3. Love your brownie pan! I use the same one. My family prefers pecans rather than walnuts and we make our own brownie mix too! They are the best with a little Mexican vanilla and topped with vanilla bean ice cream

  4. I love brownies because they’re chocolate. Not a fan of edges. We had chocolate chips and sometimes frost them for extra chocolate!

  5. I don’t care for chocolate very much, so I rarely eat any brownies. Just give me coconut desserts and I’m happy

  6. Ooooh Brownies! I make mine in a jelly roll pan with mint chocolate icing! Gooey and yummy! Food for the gods!!

  7. Brownies are wonderful and I agree brownie mixes are great! I always add chocolate chips and pecans — so good!

  8. Oh I love brownies!!! I also use the Ghiradelli – I flip between the triple chocolate and the dark chocolate. I love to add walnuts as well, but sometimes I just want to savor the chocolate flavor all on its own and leave them out. That brownie pan is awesome!!

  9. I love brownies! My son and I like the corners especially, but my husband and daughter like the centers. I have a pan from Pampered Chef that is called “Corners Only”, I think. It makes small individual brownies so everyone gets a corner piece.

  10. I love everything about brownies except if they contain coconut. I prefer black walnuts over English walnuts.
    I really enjoy your videos.

  11. We love brownies. I have box brownies mix which I replace the oil with refined coconut oil, water with plant based milk. You can replace eggs with applesauce too.
They are really good especially if you add chocolate chips. Duncan Hines

  12. I love brownies and it is my go to for a quick easy tasty snack for home or when I need to take sweets anywhere. I make from scratch and have always used butter and cocoa instead of chocolate squares. I also like to load them with walnuts… and it makes no difference to me where in the pan they come from since I prefer the moist fudge ones best… although I would never refuse one no matter how it is made! 😂 Now I am going to make some to enjoy as I plan fabrics for block and to see if I win the wonderful goodie bag! 😊

  13. Love brownies and the love me…lol. Would love to win the goody bag. Thanks Pat for doing all you do. Hope you have a healthy new year!

  14. What isn’t there to love about brownies? Chocolate and versatile and the packaged ones are so good. I like them soft. The whole family likes them and grand daughter thinks they are quite a treat. I need to decide on my 2022 quilt projects. So many lovely ones. Also need to finish some other projects too. But I love to see your progress. Almost as fun as making that quilt myself.

  15. I love brownies any kind and any way nuts, chips, love them all. Want to try nuttella. Can’t wait to start project, and make a pan of brownies to eat while I sew! Thank you for all the work you’re doing to bring this to us.

  16. Like you, my favorite brownies start out with a Ghirardelli mix. I also prefer to make the thicker cakey style, but have never turned down a good moist and chewy one either! Family is not big in nuts, so we skip them. Last year, after retiring, was the first time I participated in any of your sew a longs. Really enjoyed it. Looking forward to another fun one with sweet dreams. Thanks for all you do ☺

  17. Oh I love brownies! Especially if they have walnuts in them! I’m excited for this new sew aong sweet dreams is such a wonderful name. Thank you Pat for everything you do for us Quilter’s

  18. Brownies! What is not to love about them? I love the corner pieces because I love chewy brownies. I like nuts in them but my husband has trouble chewing them. These are a favorite with all four generations of our family. My 10 year old great-granddaughter makes them for her parents birthdays instead of cake. Would love to win one of your give aways. I try to watch you every day and really enjoy your infectious smile and your ideas on how to pick out fabrics for your blocks. I learn a lot from you.

  19. Every brownie is my favorite! The chocolate goes with any added ingredient! But I don’t like edges…I want the gooey center !

  20. Brownies were the first thing that I learned to bake. By the time I was in 6th grade, my mother allowed me to bake them whenever I wanted to. My Aunt Shirley taught me to make German Cheese Brownies from scratch! They didn’t come in a box in those days.

  21. I like brownies and use the box mixes. My mom made the best brownies using a can of Hershey’s chocolate syrup. Then she made a fudge like frosting topped with walnuts. Baking wasn’t her thing but she enjoyed making these.

  22. I love “gooey” brownies! Being from Texas I especially love a huge scoop of BLUEBELL Homemade Vanilla ice cream on top. Of course extra chocolate chips baked in are a must!! Making me hungry!!

  23. Our family LOVES brownies but we prefer the chewy kind. Rarely do we have leftover brownies, but they are delicious crumbled up over ice cream!

  24. LOVE Brownies, plain, with nuts (with Pecans not Walnuts), with choc chips, frosted, with cream cheese in the middle, ALL kinds!!

  25. My favorite brownie I found on a York Peppermint ad years and years ago. It’s also my daughter’s favorite one to make. I’ve tweaked mine by either halving or quartering the mint pattys but it melts the mints down a little more. It is completely from scratch(except for the York Mint Patties”. I love the pan and think it would work so nicely so when “the Eagle” flies next Wednesday I’m going to order one. Thanks for all you share and do.
I hope I will be a winner in this one.

  26. Anything chocolate is my hubby’s favorite, especially brownies! No walnuts in his brownies, but he does like extra chocolate chips melted on the top. The Sweet Dreams Sew Along looks like it is going to be so much fun! I still need to get my background fabric and will have to play catch up! Happy New Year Pat!

  27. Wow. You said comment & I think everyone ❤️s brownies. I wrote a post earlier but at the end found electricity had blinked & knocked off the internet. Brownies are an easy desert that most enjoy. If kids are among the eaters I don’t use nuts as they go Yuck. But I always include the edges when taking brownies as someone always looks for edges. To dress brownies up I’ll add chocolate syrup, chocolate chips & small marshmallows for s’more brownies. A good from scratch recipe is a Southern Living one called Picnic Brownies. Now I may need to make some for desert tonight.

  28. Brownies are my favorite dessert also, and especially the edges. I am going to have to get that pan! I like them with nuts or chocolate chips or peanut butter- really any way!

  29. I love brownies. When we were little, my Aunt would make them often and the smell tempted us all day as we waited for her to serve them for dessert with a scoop of homemade ice cream. Every time I make them, I am transported back to her kitchen.

  30. Although I’m not a great Baker, I do love baked goods, especially Brownies. I think walnuts are a perfect addition to Brownies, and I also love the edges. Your pan is amazing, so I’m using your link today! I’m not making the Sweet Dreams quilt because I have too many UFOs, and my word of the year is ‘finish’, not ‘start’. I do love to follow along, though, and I enjoy all your videos. I’m kind of a Super Fan. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤗

  31. Dear Brownies, How do I love thee? Well, first off, I went Gluten free some time ago and OMG, brownies are one of the dessert foods that still tastes great. Maybe even better, according to my family.

  32. Happy Sweet Wednesday Pat!
Just wanted to say thanks a lot, Lol. Does my belly need them? Lol
All I can think of is brownies since watching your video this morning.
What’s not to love about brownies!?
It’s a chilly sunny day today as I’m finally choosing colors for my sweet dreams quilt,
So I’ve got brownies in the oven with cashews and the iron is heating.
The smell. That rich warm chocolate fragrance is my favorite thing about them, Along with that first warm bite.
Ooh… that smell is Permeating through my small apartment and it’s pure bliss.
Thank you for being there especially lately as I’ve really looked forward to watching you each morning.
    Have a blessed day.
    Leslye Ann Creates.

  33. I’m with those who don’t eat brownies. I’ve not found one I really like. I prefer cheesecake or angel food cake. But I’m commenting because I love your give away package!

  34. I love brownies too. I use the Aldi Black box (tastes like the Ghirardelli) and use coffee or espresso instead of water. Yum. I was not going to do the Sweet Dreams quilt along but that block and the interesting layout have me hooked.

  35. I love brownies. My husband likes the edges. I enjoy the middle. I add chocolate chips and coconut to a box mix.

  36. I love brownies, they always remind me of my mother, she used to make the most delicious chewy brownies with walnuts, so yummy. i still use her recipe, they give me comfort and feel her spirit with me. Brownies are mother’s love.

  37. I love any brownies. I usually use the Ghirardelli mix or Duncan Hines Triple Fudge. Yum. I prefer pecans in mine. 💛🌻🤗

  38. we love brownies and have the same brownie pan. We have several walnut trees, so of course walnuts are also
added and usually I add chocolate chips as well
