We want to support this fantastic group and all the hard work they do to help others.

I adore scrap quilts for so many reasons and have enjoyed making them all. One of my favorites was a wonky log cabin style with every color under the sun. Ugly fabrics disappeared, all the colors worked together, and the recipient of the quilt just loved it. Now I wonder how many great quilts I have thrown away because I didn’t save scraps for too many years.
Love the idea of this book . My favorite scrappy quilt I made was a string quilt I used for the Backing for the FQS snowflake pattern a few years back
I haven’t made a scrappy quilt yet, but I am ready to start using up the pile of scraps I have!
My favorite scrap that I made is a spiderweb quilt with Halloween fabric that was foundation paper pieced. I just finished piecing a Sawtooth Star quilt that is scrappy.
My favorite scrap quilt is the rainbow quilt we made in March during COVID. I gifted it to my Admin Asst. when she retired – as a picnic blanket so she could picnic with her granddaughter!
I put my scraps in a small tote that I hang on my sewing room door knob, well my now 5 year old granddaughter LOVES to go through that bag. When she was 2 she would dump the bag and toss the scraps into the air and on her head, sew cute!! This past summer she dumped the bag and designed her first art quilt, she laid the pieces on the floor so that it looked like a castle then we discussed what fabric to use for the foundation and I stitched the scraps on top of the foundation, next we picked a blue paw print cuddle backing and I loaded it onto my long arm. THIS IS MY FAVORITE SCRAP QUILT EVER!!!
I am a fairly new quilter (just hit 3 years) so I am just now starting to get enough “different” scraps to make scrap quilts. With that said, I am trying to organize my scraps so I can use them when the right projects come my way. I think my first one may be like Pat’s lemon chiffon but with pastels and greys… I would have to come up with a cool name. đ
My favorite scrap quilt I have made (so far) is a rainbow unicorn quilt I completed for my granddaughter during Covid. Couldnât go anywhere to shop so I made it from whatever I had. So loved it!
I made two quilts that I adore. One was a Soldier Cot Quilt and the other a Scrappy strings quilt. These were for dear friends. I use all my scraps and those too small to sew together I place inside a fabric slip and make a cover for it. It becomes a cushion that I then gift.
I started several years ago a pattern called Mrs. ROY G BIV but havenât yet finished it because I chose the most challenging block (for me) to make. So it is waiting for me to come back to it and finish it up.
My favourite scrap quilt that I have made several times is your Traffic Jam Quilt.
My favorite scrap quilt is an All My Stars table runner I made with scraps from your Porch Swing fabric. I really do not have a huge selection of scraps since I havenât been quilting for long. I do need to start saving my scraps in an organized way, so that may be a future project!
My fav scrap quilt was a huge size wonky log cabin made with blue scraps with red centers. Quilted it on my domestic, using quilt as you go method. I Sashed the 9 patch wonky blocks in sections in black. Still using it, still in my top list Made another one just like it using yellows.
I have two scrap quilts, one that was made by my grandmother. All of her quilts were scrap quilts. She made clothes for many of her grandchildren, including my sister and me, and she had lots of scraps and many of the pieces in the quilt has pieces from those clothes that she made for us. The other scrap quilt was made by my husbandâs grandmother. As a college student I made many of my own clothes and I gave her the scraps from those projects and many of those scraps are in the quilt that she gave us. Both quilts are a treasure that I feel very fortunate to have.
My favorite scrap quilt is one my grad, other made for my 20th birthdayâŠIâm 75 now and it is still special
My favorite scrap quilt uses crumb blocks. I love to make crumb blocks – it is very relaxing & it uses up smaller scraps, to make a larger piece of fabric.
When I get enough scrapes Iâm going to make a wonderful memory quilt.
My favorite scrap quilt ii made several years ago as a guild challenge. I made a Bonnie Hunter scrap quilt with over 1000 pieces. I absolutely love it.
I often use my stash to make quilts. I consider these scrap quilts because my stash is made up of leftover fabric from other quilts I have made. I recently did a landscape quilt which use a lot of smaller pieces. This is my current favorite scrap quilt.
My favorite scrap quilt is the only one I’ve made so far. It was a 100 block quilt along with Angie of Gnome Angel Quilting. Each block used a novelty scrap from many years of making children’s quilts along with blue and lime green to control the scrappiness.
I like to make fence rail blocks and four patch blocks with scraps!
My favorite scrappy quilt was one my mom made by using a 12â piece of sheet as the foundation. She then just added strips and sewed them down like paper piecing. They were heavy, but warm.
Pat, Iâve never made a scrap quilt. Iâve always just given scraps away because I didnât know what to do with them. This book might just change my mind! I love your scrappy little block you made! Itâs adorable!
I love to make a quilt with all my leftover and I make string quilt going to start one next week again bin is full
My favorite scrappy quilt is a Christmas tree made with a scrappy tree and border–all 2.5 inch squares. However, like Pat, I like the control the look of the scrappiness:)
Hello, I have very large totes (8) and have no idea what to do. I have been making your star quilts and sewing squares together. I need ideas on how to use up scraps. I have watched you for ever and your show of scraps but still need ideas (a lot of them). My family wants quilts and i give them away a lot of time. Please help me
I made a string block with alternating gold and black sashing and it turned out great. Love scrap quilts.
I have never made a scrappy quilt but plan to make one in 2025 – I save everything!
In the summer I have been using colorful scraps in my garden to tie back climbing vegetables, like tomatoes.
I make string blocks and adding machine tape strips. Together they make a great scrappy quilt.
I have many scraps to use myself one day, but I have a pillow made with holiday scraps that I received from my cousin for Christmas a few years back. Many of the pieces were from fabrics she “borrowed” from me.
My favorite scrap quilt was houses made from crumb blocks.
I would have to say my most favorite scrappy quilt was your 2022 March block a day that was the string bean quilt. I had been saving for many, many, many years my two favorite colors to one day make a scrappy version with those favorite colors of pinks and greens. And it also happens to be my birth month so I machine embroidered a special happy birthday block for the center of my string bean block on the day I made that block, which was March 11th. I remember posting the completed quilt on your Facebook page group and got lots of comments about the colors I used. đ©·đđ©·đ. I just ordered myself a few Christmas presents from the Kate Spain fundraiser you listed on your YouTube today. And if Iâm not the lucky winner of the digital copy, I for sure will add that to my Amazon wish list. Sew Thankful for all you do Pat! đ
My favorite scrap quilt I made was a baby quilt made from 1 1/2″ bonus HSTs from another quilt. I have some 1″ bonus HSTs I’m thinking about making into another baby quilt.
Confession, I have made quite a few scrap quilts. My two favorites are Blue Ridge Beauty by Bonnie K. Hunter and Village (free download from Moda fabrics). I modified Village to have some trees. It was extra fun, because I had a class of teenagers and they got to pick out three of the house combinations. I thought of each one of them as I made their houses.
Scrappy is my norm. The latest WIP I have going is a String Orange peel on a dark background. I also have a 16 patch as my L&E in the works for my oldest gr’son. I loved the year of your scrap sewing and have really enjoyed seeing what those blocks have become.
Recently I finished a quilt using scraps. It was made with a block star pattern from MSQC. I am pleased with the process and the results.
Iâve made many, many scrap quilts including 8 Bonnie Hunter patterns. I love Traffic Jam as a scrap buster. Iâm on a half square triangle kick right now. There are so many possibilities using this versatile block.
My favorite scrappy quilt has been making the scrappy cross roads quilt. It took over 1,200 2.5 inch squares! Very fun and on a queen sized bed now.
Thank you Pat!
Wendy
Our quilt club’s theme this year is “Happy Scrappy Crappy Quilt”. We are focusing on using our scraps. Programs have been on scrappy quilts. We’ve shared bags of scraps with each other. We learned ways to organize our scraps. Patty Murphy’s “Zero Waste Quilting” book would be perfect!
My favorite scrappy quilt is a string quilt. I dumped my green scrap basket and pulled fabric out to sew.
I want to make one like youâre doing for Lemon Chiffon. Iâve been watching all of the ones youâve made. I need more scraps!
Honestly the favorite scrap quilt that I have made is the one I am working on. I am making Lori Holts Spool quilt and I am using all the scraps left over from my Scrappiness is Happiness and my Childhood Games quilt.
My favourite scrap quilt so far has been a pineapple block quilt. I used tiny little pieces, and just had fun.
I made a scrappy quilt sewing up my scraps the same year you did, Pat. I had lots of variety but a bit of black and aqua in almost every block. I sashed it with white and then black cornerstones. My favorite part is I used a gun thread and the quilting really pulled it all together. I now try to make scrappy quilts from my stash in between other projects.
Several years ago I made a scrap quilt, sewn together crazy, then cut into squares using all the darker scraps I had for a special education para that worked with my special education students in my classroom. The quilt was made with so much love for a very amazing young man.
My favorite and most challenging scrappy quilt is a Bonnie Hunterâs pattern âDawnâs Early Lightâ. It took me three years off and on to cut piece and sew. But oh how I love the results of the red, white and blue. I like to do scrappy quilts and this book would be a great addition to my library.
Most of the quilts I make are scrapy, they are donated to a charity that supports Foster Kids in our area. Recently I sat down to make blocks in ‘boy colors’, when I finished a couple of days later I had 150 blocks. So far I have made 7 quilts (finished) from those blocks. I have used various settings and got some more ideas when you showed pages of the book. I could really use it as I make quilts for this charity all year long.
My favorite scrap quilt I made is called âScraps Of Loveâ designed by Cece Johnson. A scrappy star in the center surrounded by paper pieced hearts đ. I just love it!
I will try a crumb quilt (favorite scrap quilt) with my scraps this year.
Iâve made a lot of scrappy quilts. My current favorite is the one Iâm working on now. Potato chip blocks made with 1.5â x 2.5â inch scraps, the blocks finish at 6â in the quilt. I focused on using rainbow colors. Iâm really happy with how itâs coming together!
