Pat, i would love to win this digital book. I have been saving scraps over the last few years. But I’m at a loss on how to put them together. I’m one of those quilters who love symmetrical quilts and blocks. Although i do push myself out of my comfort zone at times with your quilt alongs. I love watching your yout tube. Keep up the cheerful videos. Hugs,
This book would be a great addition to any quilters collection of patterns and ideas. I especially liked the rainbow idea.
I agree that’s a great idea.
I use scraps everywhere, back of my quilts, making bags and placemats, and I follow Bonnie Hunter and use my scraps to make her mystery quilt each year!
I love the scrappy quilts! I also bought 2 sweatshirts (I didn’t need another sweatshirt either). I look forward to watching your video everyday!
I would love the copy of Zero Waste quilting book. I am always looking for ways to use my scraps.
I have learned that you can make beautiful blocks with scraps that you may have discarded before. One example are the string blocks that Pat made. The scraps are useful! Thank you for your generosity of the fall color bundle. Would love to be the lucky one! Thank you.
Pat, somehow I missed week #3 for the Spring Quilt. I believe it is Angel Food Cake but I cannot find a place to order it on Block 4 page. Please send me the link. I enjoy these so much and appreciate your doing this. Thank you. Fay
Pat, I love this video! All those wonderful blocks! I actually specialize in scraps and put together a lot of quilts that I donAte to my guild. The quilts are given to several agencies and I especially like to sew for Women in Distress down here in So. Florida.
Happy stitching always! Diana
I really enjoyed this video on your crumb and string blocks. I think I want to try something like your red/white that you’re doing. I’ve been saving strips and squares for quite a while and really need to do something with them. I do know that they would have to probably be in the same color family though.
Julie, what a wonderful idea to start/end the sewing day with a 15 min scraps “challenge”. Will definitely give this a go!
You have given me inspiration to create blocks from my scraps.
I learned a lot from this video
95% of my quilts are for charity donations and these scrap blocks would be great.
Thank you Pat
What a picture. I totally hope I can accomplish half that. I have what I refer to as a ‘heap’. I have tried to sew them as I go but fail… Can’t wait to see what you do with them.
Maybe I will get inspired 🤔
Hi Pat,
I think with the blocks you don’t want to mix with the others like the dark blocks you can put into a secondary block. Doing great Pat fantastic work.
Paula Franklin.
This was amazing and I enjoyed listening to your explanation of your process and plans. I save my scraps and have cut some into different sizes. But I am always so far behind trying to keep up with the sew alongs I never do anything with them. I don’t know what to do with the scraps I hate to just throw them away.
i do not trim them. I just used whatever was the size. I will have to talk about that one soon
Love all your scrap blocks. Better be careful piecing those 2-1/2″ squares , they may affect your sanity!
P.S. Also what a good 15-30 minute scrappy block getcha goin start to the quilting day. And a nice 15-30 minute scrappy block stress reliever at the end of the day. I’m going to try this.
Pat, I love them all. What Unique quilts or other projects they will all make. Soooooo fun and bright and happy!!! I hope you decide to continue. It is fun to see your creativity in making these impromptu blocks. Thanks!
How about when you finish a new quilt in 2022 with a specific collection of fabrics, say a fat quarter bundle, gather up all the leftovers and make them a give away at the end of the month/project. I know I would love to receive somethings like this.
Aww, come on Pat, really! When do you sleep? You put me to shame! 😉 I must say though, I do love all of your work.
Thank you for showing us your scrap quilt , we can do so much with it
Have you considered doing a Gypsy Wife style quilt with your scrap blocks and scrap strips? I think they would lend themselves to such a project, as that would accommodate the variety of sizes of blocks.
Thank you Pat for showcasing you scrap blocks. That gives me so many ideas. So love your videos. Thank you so much
That was fun Pat. Very interesting to think how much material can be wasted…..lap quilts for give a way….thanks Pauline B
I like the red & white square that you are building so could you review that one as to the dimensions being used? I know strips & blocks are being sewn together but afterwards do you trim them to a certain width?
You could donate the blocks you aren’t crazy about to a guild who makes donation quilts. They would love them, especially since they came from YOU!
I love that you used some of your crumb blocks in your backing. I try to use scraps from the top and sew them into blocks for the back as much as possible. I like the back to be as interesting as the front.
I enjoyed listening to you talk about your scrapes. My scraps are divided by color. Once I finish my DWR quilt I now have some ideas how to take my scrapes to the next step to becoming a another scrape quilt. Thank you for teaching me to quilt back in the 90’s at a Ben Franklin in Chantilly.
I love that donation idea!
I especially like your Woodsy improv block and the red/white strip quilt-to-be!
Your crumb blocks would make a great eye spy quilt, and an amazing t picnic blanket. After quilting I would add a dirt resistant/weather proof backing to people sure it stays dry in the other layers. This would also be a great way to make donations to homeless shelters, because not everyone is able to get inside every night. They have limited beds.
