  • What is a Fat Quarter? A fat quarter is half of a 1/2 yard of fabric cut WIDE so it is  18" x 20"
  • Can I use fabric that is not a FQ? Sure!
  • Can I use Stash (fabric I own) – Yes!  Pull out a bundle of beautiful fabric
  • Will I use all the fabric – Not all of it. This is to give you variety, more is better!
  • Can you show me the blocks in advance? No, it's a mystery
  • What are the Technique? – All Easy Pieced.
  • NOTE: The Blocks do NOT LOOK like the topic of the week. This is not a pictorial quilt. I do a topic as it is way more fun than just plopping out a block.  I love the memories and sometimes research that goes into the topic.  That keeps my Sew alongs fun and unique.

  1. My favorite Christmas event took place in Southwest Florida. The City of Cape Coral sponsored a Boat-A-Long where participants decorated their boats, played holiday music, and traveled a specific route up and down the Cape Coral canals showing off their Christmas spirit. Our families would party at a friend’s house to watch from their backyard.

  2. It would be impossible for me to choose one decoration because my tree is decorated with treasured ornaments, vintage from my childhood, handmade by various family & friends, and a collection of ornaments I picked up on my vacations. So, my favorite holiday decoration is my decorated tree.

  3. My favorite decoration is a wreath I made about 25 years ago it is made with one of those sock monkey socks I put antlers on it turned it so the toe part is the moose head. Makes me smile every time I come home and see it.

  4. I like to decorate with snowmen, they are so cute. During the winter months we stay in south Texas in a RV Resort so it is so fun to have a Christmas potluck dinner with all our friends. Thanks for the fun.

  5. Singing Caroles. Growing up our church would send out groups of carolers I think I have every song memorized
While working on making new stockings for my son and his family I find myself singing (poorly now) away

  6. My favorite holiday decoration is our Christmas Tree & decorating it each year. Our tree ornaments are very eclectic. I love all the memories that come with each ornament I hang on the tree. There are some I made long, long ago, some our daughter made when she was little & these are mixed in with the Hallmark Vintage Car ornaments from the last few years (my husband has 2 vintage cars) & then of course there are a few glitzy ornaments to reflect the lights on the tree. Some years, I’m overcome my the memories. Thanks for the opportunity to win this awesome giveaway & thank YOU for all you do for us each & every day!

  7. My favorite holiday event is the Nutcracker. My son has been the Prince, and each year his company does outreach in the rural communities in northern Nv and Ca to allow children in those communities, at no charge, experience being a part of a Nutcracker production.

  8. Winter time is a time for family. Playing board games, drinking hot coco. Sharing a nice pot of stew or soup. I love snow flakes so pretty. Love playing in the snow making snow angels or snowman. Then to warm us up. Hot coco with marshmallows. Yummy!.

  9. My favorite decorations are my miniature Christmas trees. I have been collecting miniature ornaments for years and now have an entire forest of assorted size mini trees full of tiny ornaments.

  10. My favorite Christmas decoration is hanging in my quilts in my living room, hallway and kitchen. I love to decorate the entire house and then have family and friends and finger foods and desserts. My favorite part of Christmas is just giving together with family and friends and celebrating with them.

  11. I love all things Christmas. The best is decorating the tree, making cookies and visiting with family and friends. It wouldn’t be Christmas without watching It’s a Wonderful Life. My twin sister and I always remind each other when this movie comes on, not to mention all the other old Christmas movies. My husband and I love putting out all our old-world Santa Clauses. This is really the best time of the year ….

  12. My favorite Christmas event has been having a caroling party and open house for our church family. We just recentlyretire and moved, so we are looking forward to continue this tradition with our new group of friends.

  13. My favorite Christmas event is going out with my family to cut a wild tree. We live in rural Maine so we have plenty of woods to harvest one from our own land. We head out the door with snow-boots and a hand saw to select the perfect imperfect one. This one is nice but it’s missing a branch on that side.. this one is too wide, that one is too short, this one is flat on the back… that would be good to put against the wall… this one has a bird’s nest! It’s a wonderful tradition.
The best part of the holidays on the whole, though, is getting to share it with my husband. He grew up in a family that doesn’t celebrate Christmas so I’ve had the joy of introducing him to all the things that make the season magical. Cutting the tree, lights, ornaments, music and carols, Rudolf and the Grinch, stockings, and my dad reading us ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve (which he STILL does even though my brother and I are in our late 30s!). My husband and I don’t have children of our own but that’s okay because he enjoys it all just as much as any kid! My brother and his girlfriend just had their first child in November so there is now a whole new person to share the memories with. I am so blessed!

  14. My favorite holiday event was always seeing my son sin in high school choir, all the kids dressed in matching tuxedos and gowns and so professional- the music always put us in the holiday moodโ€ฆ then Covid. But such sweet joyous memories

  15. Hi Pat, love watching your daily videos. My favorite holiday decorations are my Christmas Quilts of course. Just finished up all the trimmings and did the piano keys like you did.

  16. My favorite Christmas event is going to our townโ€™s Bright Nights where we drive through the park lit with Christmas lights while listening to Christmas music and sipping hot cocoa. At the end we see Santa and watch all the children laugh and play.

  17. My favorite Christmas event is the candlelight Christmas Eve service at our church. So many precious memories with my family!

  18. I love going to all of the Christmas Bazaars. They are held every weekend from Thanksgiving to Christmas. There is always some new craft to admire & of course buy!!

  19. MY FAVORITE CHRISTMAS TRADITION IS DECORATING THE TREE WHILE LISTENING TO OLD FASHIONED CHRISTMAS SONGS AND DRINKING HOT CHOCOLATE. IT USED TO BE ENJOYED WITH MY CHILDREN BUT THEY ARE ALL GROWN AND HAVE FAMILIES OF THEIR OWN SO I ENJOY DECORATING WITH MY โ€˜GRANDANGELSโ€™ WHENEVER I GET THE CHANCE. NEXT YEAR Iโ€™LL HAVE A NEW โ€˜GRANDANGELโ€™ TO JOIN IN!! YAY!!

  20. Candlelight Christmas tours by carriage are my favorite Christmas event!! Merry Christmas to you and Gregg!! Thank you for all you do for us everyday!

  21. My favorite Christmas event is “Cookie Day” with extended family. We bake and decorate Christmas cookies about a week before Christmas so everyone has plenty to share through out the holiday week. We are expecting 13 of us this year aged 3 – 71. A “sweet” time with family!

  22. My favorite Christmas event is our annual cookie exchange party. So much fun! And you are a most generous and loving person. Thank you!

  23. My favorite Christmas things are baking cookies and watching my grandkids faces when they see the tree and sing carols. I also love putting out all of my snowman collection they make me smile.

  24. I love, love, love your videos and watch you daily. My favorite Christmas event is Christmas eve dinner with the family. Time with the children and grand children, all excited about what they will be getting the next morning. I love the music, the food and all the joy that permeates the air. For me, Christmas is the best time of the year!!!

  25. My favorite Christmas decoration is a train going around the tree. My father would do this when I was young. He would set up the train and I would help put the little pins in the track to keep it together. I could stare at that train for hours. When ever I see a train under the tree it reminds me of my dad and the happiest moments of my childhood.

  26. Looking forward to Christmas, the anticipation, is what really makes the holiday season for me. Listening to Lessons and Carols from King’s College Cambridge and preparing and lighting the Advent wreath help me focus on what Christmas is all about.
Hoping your holiday season fills you with joy. You bring so much joy to our lives every day. thank you.

  27. Thank you so much for all you do for us in the quilting world. I am glad your recovery is going well. Thank you so much for the lovely things in the giveaway.

  28. My favorite Christmas decorations are the ones our two children made years ago & the ones our two Granddaughters have made us over the years. Crafting & sewing is a “thing” in my family & we enjoy doing crafts together. My memories of Christmas’s past, bring back the real emotions for me. The amazing Christmas Eve’s spent at my Great Aunt & Uncle’s (they were truly our Grandparents!) with the entire family spending the night. Siblings & a cousin sleeping on the floor. Being able to stay up later as I grew older. Enjoying the fun with the adults & being allowed to open one gift before I went to bed. The food was delicious & the added little things Aunt Edna did bring back many memories for me, even at age 77. All those I loved so very much are gone, but always in my heart. My Mom never had a voice on Christmas morning, as she was so very excited for her three girls. Oh, those memories are coming back along with some tears. Thank you, Pat for allowing me to go down memory lane.

  29. My favorite Christmas memories are baking in the kitchen with my Mom. She has been gone for many years now. I make her cookie recipes every yearโ€ฆit keeps her close.

  30. My favorite holiday event has always been going to a Christmas Eve or Christmas Day worship service. Since the world has turned upside down, that is one thing I have really missed. I will have to find a good one to watch on You Tube.
    Joan

  31. We have a tradition of enjoying homemade soup on Christmas Eve with our immediate family. Love the delicious smells of simmering soup. It always seems more relaxed than the Christmas Day meal.

  32. We have had a tradition of cutting our own tree the day after Thanksgiving and decorating over the weekend. That is the beginning of Christmas for me. Now that my kids are grown and having children of their own, every year looks a little different, but the tree going up is the start!๐ŸŽ„

  33. My favorite is the manger. I have a 12โ€ baby Jesus. I am Catholic and ever since I can remember, we always put a manger in a special place, empty awaiting the arrival of Jesus on Christmas Day. So I set it up just as my mother and grandmother used to do, in a prominent place, awaiting. I put the baby Jesus on first thing on the 25th and enjoy all through the Christmas season until January 6 after the visit of the wise men.

  34. My favorite Christmas decorating is putting up our Christmas tree with all the old traditional ornaments from when the kids where little and all the new ornaments acquired as new grandchildren arrived. My favorite time is in the evenings turning off all the house lights and watching Christmas movies with just the Christmas tree lights on. Merry Christmas everyone.

  35. My favorite Christmas events have always been looking at all the lights up and down the neighborhood. There was always lots of excitement and joy as we each pointed out something in turn. Watching Christmas movies that Iโ€™ve watched with my children and grandchildren are still a favorite and comforting event with the memories shared with each one.
Iโ€™m really glad that you are healing nicely Pat.

  36. My favorite decoration is a tree ornament of a glass house that was purchased by my mother and father for their first Christmas as a married couple. It reminds me of the fact that they thought home and family were important then and always. They have both passed on but their love of family has been passed down to my siblings and our children and grandchildren.

  37. My favorite Christmas decorations are putting out my collection of glass Christmas trees and putting up the Christmas tree with glass Cardinal birds and red and silver Magnolia flowers.

  38. Decorating the Christmas tree with decorations the kids made at school, collected on holidays and at craft fairs, old decorations from our parents’ trees and that I’ve made over the years. A trip down memory lane every time!

  39. My favorite Christmas decoration is the angel I put on the top of our tree. She is from the 1950’s and she has a porcelain head and she is made of pink feathers. She was my parents and I was the lucky one to inherit her!

  40. My favorite Christmas decoration is a metal Santa tree topper. I am 75 years old and have had it since I got it as a gift when I was three. I look forward to hanging him on a wall or door even if I donโ€™t do a tree.

  41. My favorite holiday tradition is hanging out with kids and grandkids, watching Christmas movies and eating all the goodies weโ€™ve made.

  42. Our Christmas Tree Elegance event is my favorite. It benefits our local symphony and is held at a historic hotel in our downtown area.

  43. My favorite decoration is Mary and Joseph by Willowtree. My husband bought it for me years ago. Itโ€™s beautiful

  44. My favorite Christmas “event” used to be putting up the tree & getting out all the handmade (mostly by my son when he was small) ornaments to add to the tree. Even though I pretty much knew what all was in the tub of ornaments, I still loved looking at them every year & seeing the dates on them ๐Ÿ™‚

  45. My favourite Christmas event is putting up the tree. I now have twin grandson and to watch them look at all the decorations is priceless. Merry Christmas!
