  1. My favorite event is a “Quilt Run!” Yep, that’s right! I experienced my first quilt run by chance. My husband and I stopped by a quilt store after breakfast at our favorite place; one Saturday morning. We knew the Run was in progress and had decided we only had time for a couple of store visits and I would not be participating. When we parked at the last store of the morning’s outing, a carload of ladies pulled up on both sides of us and excitedly disembarked. A different group emerged from the store, one of which I knew and she cheerfully greeted us and asked, “Which stores have you been to?” As the women began returning to their cars, someone announced the next destination with an exuberant, “See you there” challenge. It Was On! My husband had drank the kool-aid and we visited 27 (+/-) quilt stores to complete the Quilt Run covering 5 counties.

  2. My mother collected Santa’s and now they are mine. They are in our living room and have become a conversation starter. Last year my mom was n lockdown but this year she will come to our house and see her Santa Claus’s.

  3. My favorite Christmas event is baking sugar cookies. I used to bake them with my pastor’s wife before they moved. It’s a great bonding experience with whomever I bake with. ❤

  4. My favorite holiday decoration is the sweet golden angel we put on top of our Christmas tree. We bought it the first year we were married and promised that we’d set her atop our tree every single year. That was back in 1983 (38 years ago!) and she’s adorned our tree ever since. Promise kept!

  5. My favorite Christmas tradition always started on Thanksgiving day. While the turkey was cooking we would start setting up our very large Christmas tree. We would watch the Macy’s day parade while decorating the giant tree which required two big ladders it was 17 feet tall and 36 foot around. It would take most of the day but it was a fun day and some thing we all did together. It was covered with handmade ornaments and memories from my childhood and my children’s childhood. So many nice memories.

  6. My favorite holiday decoration is my Christmas tree. It just doesn’t feel like Christmas until the tree is up and decorated.

  7. My favorite Christmas decoration is my tree. Putting up the tree is filled with many memories. It has all the decorations my children made and ornaments that bring back memories of the family through the years. Thanks for all you do.

  8. My favorite is Christmas Eve, all the kids and grandkids come over for fun games, food and singing. Great time with everyone

  9. Every year (for at least 20 years) my husband has arranged for Christmas music to play as soon as we finish Thanksgiving dinner. He used to do this by carefully timing the CDs, but now it’s easier to set a timer for the smart speaker to stream a Christmas station (usually KUSC). Everyone groans when this happens, but all agree it’s the best way to start the season.

  10. My favorite holiday activity is making Christmas cookies with my grandkids. I have three grandkids and they all come the same day. We make cut out cookies…each child has his own turn rolling and cutting. Then we all decorate together. At the end of the day my kitchen is covered with frosting and sprinkles but we all have so much fun!

  11. My daughter and I make apricot almond biscotti. This has been our Christmas tradition for probably 12 or more years. We used to make 15 batches, but have narrowed it down to only 9 because the ingredients have become too costly. We turn on the Christmas music and have a wonderful time. It’s a two-day process to complete everything.

  12. My favorite holiday event is going to Christmas Eve Mass. I take great comfort gathering with family and friends to celebrate the real reason for Christmas, the birth of Jesus. After church we come back home have some hot chocolate and a few cookies then it’s off to bed to get some sleep before our family Christmas breakfast.

  13. My favorite Holiday decoration is a Christmas tree quilt. I hang it in the living room right after Thanksgiving and leave it up until late January.

  14. I have 2 favorite Christmas decorations or stories both Nativity sets the first Christmas I was married 1958 my Grandmother gave us a beautiful set I have treasured it ever since and have given my children and grandchildren a set for their first married Christmas gifts my other favorite is a lighted plastic set for our front yard and the year my grandson Tyler had every visitor to our house “come and see our Jesus people”

  15. My favorite Christmas activity is going to my grandsons’ Christmas program at their school. I love hearing elementary students singing songs and playing instruments. They are all so adorable and entertaining. Some are shy, some are loud, but they all enjoy the Christmas carols and hymns. Happy Holidays to you Pat, and to all members of this wonderful quilting community.

  16. Hi Pat, you look great after surgery! Glad you are feeling better.
My favorite decoration is my handmade items of course. I love the memories of making them… some many years ago. My favorite event is watching children opening gifts and the joy of anticipation. Merry Christmas to you and your family.🥰

  17. My favorite event is having all the family together eating a great meal, reading the Christmas story from the Bible and opening presents. Having my children and grandchildren near is THE BEST part of the season!

  18. My favorite Christmas decoration is my village that I set up under myChristmas tree. My husband gave me one village piece every year for Christmas until we ran out of room. At night time, the Christmas tree lights and the village lights reflect on my wood flooring. It creates such a peaceful, calming scene.

  19. My favorite Christmas decoration is 2 items I made many years ago. They are the ceramic Christmas tree with little bird lights and the ceramic nativity scene. Now that it is only my husband and I at home, this is how decorate for the holiday.
    My fav
Vorite event is the time my husband and I spend with a candle lit advent wreath doing a devotional time. It is a very peaceful pause each evening.

  20. My favorite decoration are the snow flakes that my Mother made every year and put in our cards for 40 + years.

  21. My favorite activity is taking my Two granddaughters to the Christmas light show in Kaiser Oregon . We drive through a beautiful neighborhood while staying warm and safe in the car. Then at the end we donate bags of food and a money donation for families in need.

  22. My favorite Christmas decorations are my nativity collection. I started collecting nativities in 1971 when I went on a Holy Land trip to Israel and bought my first one made of olive wood.

  23. My favorite Christmas thing to do,is decorating my hutch. It has my sewing house, fabric store things like that. So cute. Then my tree which has all ornaments from my childhood, and friends. Happy holidays!

  24. About 5 years ago I started a Christmas stocking hunt and it’s become a favorite event for the whole family. I give the kids the first clue that leads them to the next clue and so on. The last clue will finally reveal where the stockings are hiding. It’s a great way to start our Christmas day.

  25. My favorite Christmas decoration is an olive wood nativity and creche that my husband picked up in Israel on a cruise when he was in the navy in the 1980’s. We’ve had it now all these years. Baby Jesus was missing one year, and we finally found him under our three year old’s pillow. She thought he was cold. She is now in her forties, and still we tease her about it.

  26. I love decorating for Christmas. My tree is an assortment of vintage and new. Ornaments I have collected my entire life. I have many tiny trees and the library I work at has a tiny tree display Every year. This is our 20th year of the display and we have 86 tiny trees here.

  27. Hi Pat…My favorite event has always been putting up the Christmas tree. We would put the yule log on tv and listen to the music, while decorating on Christmas Eve. There was always hot chocolate and cookies to snack on.

  28. My favorite event/memory was ringing a huge bell outside. It two of us kids to hold it up. And it was loud. We were on a ranch so only family nearby.

  29. My favorite holiday is Christmas. The twinkle of the lights. The shiny ornaments and tinsel on the tree. My favorite decoration is the Snowmen.the joy and smells of Christmas is by far my favorite.

  30. As a child, we had a beautiful Nativity scene that we displayed on the top of the piano in our living room. It is long gone now, but I think of it every year as we decorate our Christmas tree. I cherish the ornaments that my mother cross stitched that I loving place on the tree each year. I miss her so much since she passed last year. She and Cindy’s mom, Mrs. Lovie, were such good friends and now our holidays won’t be the same without them.

  31. Merry Christmas Pat! You are so generous especially with your time doing the daily videos, they are a bright spot for me each and every day! I am also looking forward to your new book on table toppers. I would love to have the planner for 2022. I have so many projects and I am following your lead with making monthly lists. This planner would be great addition to keep me on track of completing projects and of course scheduling all the new ones I want to do. My favorite thing about the holidays is the lights. I love the twinkle and atmosphere the lights provide, both inside the house and outside the house. Thank you for all you do. You are amazing! đź’•

  32. My favorite Christmas event is going to the Candlelight Concert that happens every year at Central College in Pella before the fall semester is over and just before finals and students going home for Christmas. It is beautifully decorated event full of festive Christmas and holiday music.

  33. My fav Christmas Holiday decorations are my old toys and my silver Christmas tree! I’ve been wanting to recreate my childhood Christmas for years and this year it finally happened!!!!

  34. My favorite Christmas event is the Christmas service at Church with all the teens and children doing a great job telling the story of Christ’s birth. Merry Christmas to you and Gregg.

  35. My favorite Christmas activity is having my children and grandchildren here having Christmas. We have a tradition of having an evening supper and opening gifts on Christmas Day. It ends our Christmas time on such a set note. Having our family near is the best present!

  36. My favorite is everything Christmas, from the Christmas quilts, the tree, and family coming home for Christmas. I could go on and on….

  37. I loved Christmas when my kids were little. The excitement in their eyes, I will never forget. Now I get to see the excitement in my grandchildren’s eyes. My most memorable Christmas was when I first met my dad, I was nine, and we went to his Aunts house and her tree was covered in gold wish bones, she had collected over the years! And lights that looked like real candles on the branches…. I never forgot that day.

  38. My favorite event is putting up the Christmas tree – it is so much fun looking at each ornament and remembering what it represents to me. All my ornaments are special ones, some from my kids, some of places I have visited, some passed down from family, etc. All the while I must have Christmas music playing in the background. And of course, the most important thing for me is going to church on Christmas Eve. I just love Christmas!

  39. Oh my that is a tough decision as I love Christmas and everything that has to do with it. I guess I will pick my favorite of this past week. I loved our ladies candlelight Advent service. Wonderful friends, a great message, the beautiful decorations, and food.

  40. Love it when you go through the color selection process for your scrappy blocks! Glad your nose is improving and you look great!
