  1. My favorite decoration is the Christmas tree in our living room. That tree is not a theme but rather memories of my youth, ornaments my kids and grandchildren have made for us and now ornaments from my parents tree since they are no longer with us. My husband and I decorate this tree together as we carefully unwrap each one and talk about those times. I love sitting only by the light of the tree at night and remembering how blessed I have been and am today. Thank you for your generosity. Glad you are feeling better.

  2. My favorite Christmas event is Christmas Eve service at my church. Christmas decorations – I do enjoy a Christmas tree, but I also love snowmen and many stay out all year long.

  3. My favorite event is making Christmas cookies and candies. A tradition that has carried on for years in our family. My mom and dad did this every year when us kids were growing up. People would come to our home almost nightly from Thanksgiving to Christmas to purchase all the homemade goodies. Mine is a much scaled back version!

  4. My favorite decorations are all the beautiful Christmas lights. I love decorating with the lights and driving around to see all the Christmas displays.

  5. Christmas Eve church service and then a nice dinner with all of the family! Favorite decoraction is the ceramic angel handed down to me from grandparents and then mother. It was an ornament on a casket of my great, great grandmother. Precious and delicate. It will be given to may daughter someday soon to carry on the tradition.

  6. My favorite holiday event is a Christmas Eve lunch with my 2 grown daughters and now my granddaughters. Since everyone is so busy on Christmas Day we carved out a little time together to celebrate!

  7. Pat, My favorite Christmas decoration is a nativity scene embroidery tile wall hanging that I bought to machine embroidery at the Houston International Quilt Show 3 or 4 years ago. It is gorgeous and I leave it up all year long.

  8. My favorite decoration is the Christmas tree. I get to put on all the old ornaments that I had when I was growing up. It brings back wonderful memories.

  9. I love planning and make. Decoration for my themed Christmas trees being creative and when it all comes together it magical , this year we choose two littles kids to do Christmas for we loved it and it made for a wonderful date for my husband and I. It also put some magic in this Christmas fo us. Just wish we could be a fly on the wall to see there faces. Giving truly is Christmas joy.

  10. My favourite decorations are the ones I give our three girls every year. They are born 6 years apart and at varying stages of life (teen to young adults). Every year, we buy them each matching ornaments that reflect a family event that year or remind us of them. The idea is that when they are long gone, busy with their own lives, they will take a moment and think of each other as they hang these very ornaments on their own trees with their families. Sister love, no matter where they are!

  11. My favorite decoration is a fisher price nativity set that I bought when my second daughter was born on December 7th. She is now 23 and we still put out this grimy little set that has been well loved and played with

  12. My Christmas tree is always my favorite. For quiet a few years we lived in a larger home and I put up 7 trees. Each had their own different theme. Now that I,m 76 and my husband is 81 we have downsized and I only put up one tree. But the most important part of my tree is hanging a plastic white snowman with a red hat and scarf. It is an ornament that my mother said
My twin brother and I picked out from the store when we were about 4. My twin brother was killed in the Vietnam War a month before we were turning 22. I always hang it right in front and eye level to me. Our 3 children and 9 grandchildren know the story of the snowman and how special it is. Our oldest granddaughter will take it and continue the tradition after we are gone

  13. My favorite ornament each year that brings back floods of memories is a jingle bell. It’s about 3″ in diameter and painted up all Christmasy. Getting together with immediate family back then meant about 50 people. My son was a very tiny toddler and I would lose him walking around the house with so many people. So I attached this bell on the back of my son’s overalls so it would make a jingle noise as he walked around. That way we could always know where he was at. To this day, we always say that is Nathan’s bell.

  14. I love displaying all my Christmas quilts along with my Christmas decorations, it gives my house a warm cozy feeling. Merry Christmas!

  15. My favorite thing about Christmas is watching my grand babies in all their holiday programs. Special memories!!

  16. My favorite decoration is an angel made with a clay face with a scrap of an old quilt for the body and skirt. When making my wedding dress I went to a local fabric store. Mrs. Kennedy, the owner, was so much help to me, years later I was working in a beauty shop and Mrs. Kennedy came in around Christmas time with this cute little angel, she didn’t know I collected angels, a perfect gift for me and it was a surprise. It was from a quilt that her grandmother had made. She made the clay face, very artistic, it is a favorite of mine. It is always displayed on my tree at eye level and in the front.

  17. My favorite Christmas decorations are the home made ones, especially the pieces of felt that my aunt hand embroidered with different scenes of the Nativity. These are wonderful reminders of her love and what Christmas is all about.

  18. My favorite Christmas decoration is my white christmas tree with all my glass vintage (and some not so vintage) ornaments. It even has the angel that I bought the year my daughter was born and she is now 31. I love putting this tree up every year.

  19. I watch your channel every afternoon when all the mundane stuff is done and I can finally come out to my sewing room. You are awesome.

  20. Oops, hit send before I added that my favorite holiday event is sewing, making, gifting my family and friends with my handmade projects. Favorite decoration is the patchwork tree skirt I still use that is about 40 years old. XO

  21. Thanks for all you do. I am so glad you’re healing well. Currently working on a flannel throw for my husband. I’ve almost finished 3 quilts and 2 18″ toss pillows for my grandkids. I’d love to put the gifts in your giveaway to good use.

  22. My favorite Christmas event was Christmas evening with family and each one opening one present. But now the kids are adults and the in-law family ‘owns’ Christmas Eve so we don’t gather then anymore. And my favorite ornament that makes the Christmas tree ‘finished’ is a brass Hallmark locket ornament purchased for hubby and me to celebrate our first Christmas together. It always goes at eye-level in the front center of the tree.

  23. I still enjoy going around the neighborhood and seeing everyone’s light display. I have been doing this for over forty years.

  24. My favorite event is decorating the tree. we usually cut our own tree and decorate it with lights and years of handmade ornaments and even some of my childhood ornaments. There’s hot chocolate and cookies and maybe a Kaluha or Irish coffee. I love sitting in the dark enjoying the smell of a fresh cut tree, with the sparkling lights and remembering ornament stories.

  25. Hi Pat! My favorite holiday decoration is a quilted goose table topper that I made 27 years ago…before kids! It is hand quilted because that’s all I knew how to do at the time!!! Take care.

  26. I enjoy decorating the Christmas tree with all the ornaments that the kids made and ones my Grandma painted. It’s like a memory walk each year.
Thanks for all you do Pat.

  27. I like to bake cookies, package them up and deliver them to some of my neighbors. A favorite memory is of a neighborhood I lived in where one family organized a carol sing around some of our streets, ending up at their house for a party.

  28. Decorating the mantle and hanging the stockings are always a fun reminder of past Christmases when our children were small…now the DIL and even pets have their own stocking’s added!

  29. My favorite holiday event was Sugarplum Shoppe which was a fun event of activities, Festival of trees to puchase or bid on, and shopping which all benefited the local Children’s hospital!

  30. My favorite Christmas decoration is my Christmas tree. It was my cousins mothers tree, over 45 yrs old. She was putting in her yard sale a few yrs ago and I rescued it. I always loved the little 6 ft. tree and memories of it in my cousins house. One of the first artificial trees. Bought at our towns local store for $7.95. Cant even by a bulb for that today.

  31. My family and I live to do a drive through tour of Christmas light displays out on my our local county park. It always helps get us into the Christmas spirit!

  32. My favorite holiday decorations are the handmade ones. My mother’s crocheted angels, my cross stitched ones and my ceramic Christmas tree that I made years ago. Thanks for all that you do and teach us! Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁

  33. My Favorite thing is a Collection of Santa themed tree ornaments. My Favorite Holiday tradition has always been putting up the tree. However the day after Christmas in 2016 my Mother, who lived with us for 7 years, became ill, went into the hospital, and passed away January 6th. She was my best friend as well as my Mom. I did not decorate for Christmas at all in 2017,18,or 19. In 2020 due to Covid I really thought I should make an effort.
So we put the outdoor lights up, cut a tree, and got out my Mom’s big box of Santa Decorations. I had not used Mom’s decorations in my Home prior to this. Mom started her “Santa tree” in 1993. That year I had purchased her some Santa ornaments as a Thank you gift for watching our three Kids (ages 4,2 and 6 months) while we got a little get-a-way R&R for my 35th Birthday. Collecting these ornaments became a thing for Mom and me. I always bought her something at every Craft show or vacation.
Opening that box last year was like having a good visit with Mom, and brought me a huge release and joy. This year I had so much fun putting it up again with my Daughter-in-law. This was her first Christmas tree decorating as even though she has lived in the US for 8 years, she grew up in China and didn’t celebrate Christmas till she married our son.

  34. I think my favorite Christmas event was always Christmas Eve. My husband was a pastor and there were three Christmas Eve services spaced out from about 5:30 until the last one that ended at midnight. We had to catch him between services since he was obviously at all three. When the girls were younger, the girls and I went to the earlier one and hurried home to a quick supper of tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches and then opened ONE present each that was under the tree. Then off to bed with them while Dad went back to work. Later the girls and I would go to the last service after our usual supper of tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. All three girls over the years served as acolytes for this later service which was more formal. Our youngest started pretty young serving as acolyte (as the older two felt they were too grown up now)and she could be seen (sometimes only by the choir, thankfully!) kicking off her shoes, lounging back in the big pulpit chair with her leg up over the arm of the chair and go to sleep. She had to be awakened more than once to snuff out the candles at the end of the service. The choir got a big charge out of it! Then we went home to open up one gift each under the tree before heading off to bed. Lots of memories there! Merry Christmas to all!

  35. My favorites Christmas event is a wonderful life party that has been going on with my college roommates. We started it our senior year. And this year is our 40th anniversary. We take turns hosting and traveling to one another’s house. There are 10 of us and for the most part everyone makes an attempt to attend, and yes we do watch the movie.

  36. My favourite Christmas decoration is my Mom’s plastic spinner (like a small merry-go-round). The heat from the older, large tree lights would make it spin. It’s now mine since she passed. I have only seen one other like it on a friends tree

  37. My favorite decoration was made by my father years ago. It is a block of wood made into a puzzle. Each piece is a Christmas figure like Santa, his reindeer, a candy cane, an elf, a Christmas tree, etc. I set the individual pieces out with the frame as a backdrop. At the end of the season, I put the puzzle back together again. I also have a nativity scene one too. Love them.

  38. My favorite decorations are the handmade, one-of-a kind, ornaments made by family and friends. Although we aren’t able to put up a tree, the ornaments are hung and displayed throughout our home bringing joy and wonderful memories. Blessings to you and Greg. Merry Christmas!

  39. My favorite holiday decoration is the 4 ft. flocked tree with red berries. I add birds because I love watching them. I also add vintage family ornaments, some from my mother’s years of teaching back in the 1920s and early 1930s, others dating to World War II. Then comes the ‘most’ favorite. Underneath the tree goes an old sheet (for snow) and the village of small houses, stores and a church, bottle brush trees and numerous sizes and kinds of Santas along with celluloid reindeer and a sleigh. There is also a Santa on a sleigh that actually is for holding hard candies in a mesh bag (back when getting hard candy was a real treat at Christmas). These also are from my mother’s teaching years. Last on one side sits the Nativity scene made of some sort of plaster and painted. These were bought years ago for 29 cents, 39 cents, etc (prices written in pencil on the bottoms. This is ‘my Christmas’ from the farm where I was raised. Christmas has come when this decoration is complete.

  40. My favorite decoration is my holiday village that my husband bought for me. He added a house each year when the kids were younger. My son-in-law made me a small ladder shelf for me to display them on. I add batting for snow and it just looks so warm and happy. My favorite Christmas event just started about 4 years ago. My four daughters and I get together at one of their houses and bake all our Christmas cookies. We start on Friday and finish up on Sunday. It fills my heart with joy to see how well my daughters get along and enjoy their time together. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all. Thanks Pat for all the great videos and pattern. You truly inspire me and I can’t wait to start the next sew along with you in January!
