  3. I was fortunate to go to Germany for my young daughter’s medical appointment while we were stationed in Greece. We loved their cookies. Recently, I was introduced to German red cabbage cooked with apples. Yum!
    I started following you on Substack on day one.

  4. Yes, I lived in Germany for 3 years way back in the late 80s when I was in the Air Force. Lebkuchen is my favorite German food. We were just in Germanythis summer on a river cruise and you can buy it year round in Nuremberg now. I did subscribe to your substack newsletter.

  14. I have not been to Germany but I have a quilt that lives there. I gifted them a quilt when there first child was born. It was Pat’s Jelly Roll Sizzler pattern. Turn out great! They loved it.

    family. My Grandmother used to make a wilted lettuce salad with bacon that was yummy. I’m looking forward

  17. My Grandmother made lebkuchen cookies along with springerlies and both have been my most favorite cookies. I have tried making them in the past but they don’t taste as good as Grandma’s. I haven’t had Grandma ‘s cookies in way over 50 years and I miss them every season

  18. Yes, I have traveled to Germany. It was the first vacation I took when I started my career. I visited my sister. Love so many foods from there. I love German potato salad and red cabbage.

  24. I have never been to Germany. My grandfather came to the US from there. We grew up eating ham, cabbage and potatoes. Don’t know the real name – just called it ‘German mess’! Lol
    The cans are all pretty, my favorites are the green ones, both the large with the angels and the small one with the scene.

  27. I was stationed for 4 years in both Nuremberg & Mannheim, Germany while in the Army. I absolutely love all German food but schnitzel with spatzle is probably my favorite?

  31. My daughter did a couple of short term (2 1/2 weeks) student exchange trips to Germany. I also have been in Germany , and through the Frankfurt Airport twice. I would love to try these cookies, they sound delicious.
