  1. My first quilt was begun while I was in high school and finally finished several years later for my new husband! He still gets a new quilt every once in a while.

  2. I made my first quilt for my oldest granddaughter. It was definitely a labor of love! I love when they get it out and sit on it to read or eat a snack or just cuddle up with it. Congratulations on hitting 95k!! That is amazing!! I am subscribed to YouTube under gullyridgefarm. Have a wonderful hump day!

  3. Congratulations on hitting this milestone! I taught myself to quilt by watching YouTube & all the wonderful quilty content such as your channel. My first quilt was for a youngest niece because she’s the smallest person in my family. Up to that point I had only made small projects so when I felt confident enough, I made her my first official quilt! Thank you again for your content & helping me become a confident quilter!

  4. My first quilt I made was in a class on how to quilt. I still have it and it hangs in my quilting room.

  5. My first quilt I made for myself just to see if I could do it. From the first cut and stitch I was hooked. Hard to believe that was 4 half years ago. Still haven’t made that many but love seeing them come together.

  6. The very first quilt I made was in high school in the mid-1970’s. It was in Home Economics class, all hand sewn and then tied. It had very bright colors in 1” x 3” strips and was baby sized, I still have it! I continued to make tied baby blankets for years then 2012 my daughter started sewing, was making a quilt with her step-mother, needed some help and got me hooked! I was even able to purchase a used 14’ longarm 2 years ago. My mother made many scrap quilts and had a quilting frame in her living room after her retirement. I look forward to your morning videos and I do some of your sew alongs, no way could I do all of them – you make me exhausted just seeing how much work you do daily! LOL! So happy you have over 95,000 subscribers, well deserved!

  7. I started quilting in the summer of 2021. My first quilt was for one of my granddaughters birthday. It was just a simple 5” square quilt. This is where I learned about how much smaller the quilt comes out after you sew it all together. Never thought about the seam allowance prior to sewing it. It was small but she loved it.

  8. I made my first quilt many years ago for my daughter’s first “big girl” bed when she was about 2 years old. I didn’t know anything about quilting and naively thought the only knowledge I needed were basic sewing skills! How wrong I was! Thankfully I had a friend who helped along the way. Finally 21 years later I finally have the time to take quilting up again and learn real quilting techniques. I’ve been at it now for about a year and really love it! Thank you Pat… love your channel and all the tips and encouragement… so glad to have found you!
Coincidentally my daughter just moved to Virginia from Idaho almost one year ago! Can’t wait to visit the Virginia Quilt Museum on our next visit.

  9. The first quilt I made was made for my Father who was ill at the time and I thought my quilt would cheer him up. All my quilts are made for someone in mind and given as a Christmas gift or Baby Sower gift! For the first time in 17 years I am making a Christmas Themed quilt for myself!

  10. Made my first quilt for my grandson Caleb who is now 7 yrs old. It started my love if creating quilts.
Congrats on reaching 95+ K. And that’s a beautiful quilt you made and are giving away. ( I’m a little afraid of appliqué.)

  11. My first quilt was a small applique of a little farm for me! I love that quilt and still have it!
So proud for you to have reached 95K subscribers!

  12. Oh, my, I should have proofread a little better. It was not Crosstitch on kingdoms, but rather the gingham squares created the Crosstitch grid.

  13. I made my first quilt for my piano teachers first baby. It was yellow gingham, and I Crosstitch animals in brown floss on the kingdoms. It was a pattern that had my mom gotten in the mail. I think she had ordered it from cappers weekly. I hand quilted it with blocks in the blank squares. On a frame that I had gotten from the seers catalog. I don’t think I even have a picture of it, but I do have the memory.

  14. Congratulations on 95,000 subscribers! That is quite a milestone! My first quilt was a twin-size quilt for my niece to encourage her to use her “Big Girl” bed! She is now in her 30’s!

  15. The first quilt I made was with my mom and sisters. I have 6 sisters and some of us would get together and help mom tie the quilts she would sew together. I later made one that was raffled in a school fundraiser.

  16. The first quilt I ever made was a 50th anniversary quilt for my in-laws. I sent each guest a white square for them to depict any memory they had. Both of my in-laws have since passed and I am now in possession of that quilt. It holds so many memories for me. That was in the 1990s and I’ve been a quilter ever since.

  17. My first quilt was made for my son 20 years ago when he was in college. It was a Quilt in a Day log cabin quilt. Recently he told me he needed a new one because the original is starting to fall apart. Congratulations Pat on your growing number of YouTube subscribers. I love starting my day watching your videos!

  18. I made a Halloween wall hanging for my daughter. We both love decorating for this holiday. My sister gave her all of her decorations and when I went to visit I thought she had shopped in my basement for decorations, as we have some of the same things!

  19. I made my first quilt in a Beginner’s Quilt class at my LQS. I kept that quilt for myself. The first one I gave away was for a cousin’s daughter’s wedding. The bride and groom were fans of different teams, so I made a Disappearing Nine Patch with Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles fabric.

  20. The first quilt I ever made was in 1990 for my son. It was a log cabin “Quilt in a Day” pattern, twin size. It was shades of blue.

  21. I made my first quilt when I was 16 years old. I made it for my hope chest. It was a bow tie quilt and I loved it.

  22. Ahh! My first quilt was so many years ago I can not remember but I do remember my great neighbors who ended up having a quilt n crafty days!

  23. My first quilt was for me, like a prototype to make sure I knew what I was doing and if I enjoyed it (obviously I did lol). I still have it. It’s a seafoam green floral print with light pinks and is hand tied. It’s the size of a twin bed and I keep it in the living room. I plan to always keep it to remember where I started.

  24. I wanted to learn to quilt and started in 2020 and became addicted 😆 I am self taught from YouTube and made each of my daughter’s a camper applique quilt from Missouri star pattern. I thought applique would be the easiest since all the shapes were cut out and ironed on… Boy was I wrong. 🤣 I used a layer cake and made each of my daughter’s a quilt. Was super proud of myself. One quilt I quilted oh my machine stuffing it through a 5″ throat the second I decided to do quilt as you go which was much easier. Since then I’ve owned three different machines and just purchased a long arm. What can I say I’m in love with this new hobby and have made about a dozen quilts since. I have pretty much gifted all of my quilts to friends and family so far.

  25. Congratulations Pat on reaching the 95k milestone! I made my first quilt for my niece when she was born 40 years ago from a simplicity pattern! She proudly used it for her baby who was born 10 years ago as a playmat. My quilting has advanced quite a lot over the years so this year I made her a new quilt with fun little Japanese fabrics I picked up over there, she loves Japan!
It’s started a trend so all the nieces want quilts now for their 40ths! Love having you alongside me in my sewing room! Have a wonderful trip. Xxx Linda

  26. The first quilt I made was for my Grandpa after my Grandmother passed away from alzimer. I made it for out of grandma’s dresses and shirts as a memory for him. It was for Christmas in 1979.

  27. I am new to quilting and made my first quilt, Oh My Stars! for my brother whom I love with all my heart! He means the world to me and lives about an hour and a half away and we don’t see each other as often as I would like.

  28. My First real Quilt that I have made to be given away was to my Friend, Deb. We met her and her Husband camping. They came to our house and I was showing her Star blocks that I was working on. I didn’t think she was paying attention and she isn’t a quilter. One day while on the phone she says: When you get that quilt done, I’ll buy it from you. Well all the stars I made are paper pieced. I wasn’t giving then up. So I made her a quilt of her own with stars in the colors she loves , purple and yellow and the yellow had yellow roses, which was her favorite flower. She was surprised when I gave it to her. She wouldn’t let her husband touch the quilt. lol Sadly she passed a few years back and is missed dearly.

  29. My first quilt was an experiment to see if I could do this. I kept the quilt just to remember the experience. Thanks for the You Tube. Congrats.

  30. My first quilt was a wedding gift for my nephew and his beautiful bride. I got the pattern from McCalls magazine . And I sent it in to be included in the quilts for the magazine that had a story with a picture that was published. I was so excited to have my quilt in the magazine. The picture also includes a picture of my nephew and his bride. I will never forget my first quilt. Pat winning one of your quilts would mean a lot to me because i have followed you for so long. And making almost all your sew alongs. You are an inspiration! More than you know!!!

  31. I made my first quilt for my doll Christine, I still have both. I was 7 and made it on my great grandmother’s treadle machine, which I also still have. The quilt was made from the clothes my mommy made me. I’m a huge fan, Pat, you are
Amazing and I love what you share with us everyday. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

  32. This is John the Quilter. I made my first quilt for my granddaughter. I wrapped her in it when she was just an hour old. It will always be my favorite quilt!

  33. If I remember right, my first “completed” quilt was for me. It was a challenge project between 6 friends. We all used the same fabric, but chose our own pattern & couldn’t reviel until we were finished. Mine was Stepping Stones and my mom helped me hand quilt it so I could have it done by the deadline.

  34. Congratulations on hitting 95,000 subscribers! So wonderful!! I love your block today-the Scrappiness is Happiness one. It goes so well with the other blocks when I saw it on the wall with the others. I wish I was better with colors, but I’m learning from you when you show us your choices and why. Ok, so the first quilt I made was a baby quilt. It was a gift for a family friend who was having a baby. I was around 15 or 16 years old and had sewn clothing and did embroidery, but not quilts. I just figured out how to do it. I embroidered on some preprinted cotton blend blocks with baby type images on them. One was a lamb, one was a baby chick and so one. I then sewed fabric squares to them, making a nine patch. I think I used polyester batting, and I added a border. The border and backing were the same fabric, but there was no binding. 🙂

  35. I made my very first quilt for my mother, using a lot of my dad’s shirts a little while after he died. I couldn’t do it straight away, but she loves it so it was a worthwhile thing to do. And, of course, it has led me on to making many more quilts. Current one will be for my first grandchild due in 3 days.

  36. So happy to be one of your 95K groupies!! I’ll go with my first gifted quilt which was a queen size log cabin for my nephew’s graduation. I was soooo naive! The top went together pretty well using Eleanor Burns Quilt in a Day book. I pieced the back which was fun but tedious as i was trying to incorporate much of grandma’s stash. Novice that I was, I used a polyester batting, not knowing about cotton batting…..yikes!! Would have been fine if I had tied like grandma used too, but I wanted to machine quilt……disaster!!!! It went into time-out for a few years. My quilting journey taught me much (thanks to you and a few others) and I pulled it back out, unpicked thousands of stitches, resandwiched with a cotton batting and machine quilted. It turned out pretty good!!! I haven’t looked back and have quilted many, many, many more! Thank you!

  37. Congratulations! My first quilt (if you could call it that)was for my 35 yr old nephew. He is a Thor nut. Marvel superhero. It was so messed up but he loved it. Then I watched so much YouTube to really learn how to quilt. I watch you every morning. I have learned so much from you. Thank you!

  38. My first quilt ever was made when I was in high school (back in 1976) in a Home Ec class. It was a Raggedy Ann & Andy quilt that I kept for myself to use for my babies some day. And I did! The next quilt was for my first baby daughter 38 years ago. I have made numerous quilts since then but Covid and finding your YouTube videos has found me fully engaged with quilting and I can’t sew fast enough to give one to everyone that I love. Thanks for doing what you do, Pat!!!

  39. My first quilt that I finished was a baby quilt for the Hope Pregnancy Center. I got involved with it through my church’s organization “Hannah’s Hands.” We had just joined and I wanted to become involved in the church.
The quilt was hand pieced and hand quilted. You should see the binding! The corners are more “rounds” than “corners!” LOL!!

  40. Hip Hip Hooray on reaching 95K!! The very first quilt I made was using fabric from my garment sewing and it was just a simple patchwork all over for I was self teaching myself via book on making a quilt. Originally I was making it for me for use in my sewing room, but when my mother saw it she fell in love with it, so I gave it to her who displayed it on the bottom of her bed, so she could pull it up over her legs while sitting up upon her bed before turning in for the day.

  41. My first ‘completed’ quilt was one I made for my son in 2010. He was and still is into on-line Poker so I found some playing card fabric and pieced together stars with red, white and black solids. I call it his “Poker Stars Quilt”. A few years ago he & his wife got a king sized bed & asked me to make it bigger – was that a challenge! I did make it bigger & its on their bed to this day.

  42. The first quilt I made was for myself. I’m not sure exactly when. I wish that I would have labeled it. I still have it and enjoy seeing how much I have progressed. As they say, “Baby, you’ve come a long way.”

  43. Congrats on 95K subscribers! My first quilt was for my oldest son. My paternal grandmother was a quilter, so I was following in her footsteps. (smile)
