Congratulations of Getty to 95k subscribers. I made my first quilt for my grandson. It was a super hero’s quilt using the wonky 9 patch block. He has it on his first big boy bed. He is 3 years old.
I made my first quilt for myself. About 3 years ago.
I couldn’t sew a straight line. But, a friend of mine that has cancer, needed company and to stay busy. She said come over and I’m going to teach you to quilt…
And that started my addiction. We have so much fun together in her Happy Place. I now have a sewing room instead of a guess room.
I watch your YouTube to learn more about this addiction. 🤣😂
Congrats on 95,000 + subscribers 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks for all you do!
My first quilt was a baby quilt that I had made for my granddaughter to come. My daughter did an ultrasound and it said that it was going to be a girl, so I made a pink frilly girl quilt.
To our surprise, my daughter had a boy, I never did give the quote to my daughter. It was put into a cedar chest and it’s been sitting there for 38 years.
My first quilt was made for my best friend it definitely was no where close to perfect 🤩 I look back and am amazed at far I’ve come watching you every morning 💕 thank you for inspiring so many of your fans 🌷🌷
My first quilt was made for my husband out of fabric I made clothes for our children.
I made my first quilt for myself at 10 years old out of scraps of denim. 50 years later it is in my car as my emergency quilt.
I made my first quilt for my mom on her 65th birthday. It was a flip flop beach quilt
my first quilt was a tied baby quilt over 40 years ago for my 3rd baby. I learned to tie from some ladies in our church, then attended classes years later to learn about piecing. My grandmother also made quilts for her grandchildren and I still have mine that is about 60 years old. I think it is in my blood.
The first quilt I made was for my mom! I learned to sew at the age of 7 but quilting for 20. After her passing I
Got it back. Will cherish this always.
My first quilt was made for me, it took me many years to get up enough courage to give one away, but that one I gave to my daughter, I have since given around 125 quilts away
My very first quilt was made for my Granddaughter. I didn’t have a patten, I just put together 5×5 squares into a 4 patch and used 2.5″ strips in white around the blocks and between the rows. It was mostly in green, her favorite color. It took almost 6 months to make but it was as they say a labor of love!
Congrats on the 95k!! Woohoo!! I made my first quilt for myself.
I made my first quilt for myself. My best friend gave me scrap blocks that she had and told me to sew them into rows which I did. And it’s been a crazy stash building way of my life ever since. I have made quilts for each of my siblings and their spouses as they turned 70. I have gifted many, many quilts and they have gone as far as Germany 🇩🇪 into the Black Forest to family there! My 6 yr old granddaughter has asked me to teach her so that is our summer project!
Love your videos, patterns and books Pat! You are such an inspiration!
Quilty hugs from the prairie in Illinois! ♥️
Sorry… the year was 1992!
Hi Pat… my first quilt was a baby quilt for my first grandchild, Ashley. It was a log cabin that I just winged it and cut the logs as I went!🤣 needless say it was not exactly perfect but I made it work & she was beautiful wrapped up in it!!! ❤️
My first quilt was for my son in 1977. I was 17 years old (and, still married to the father of my child, hitting our 45 year anniversary this year). I used pre-quilted fabric, I measured 4 inch blocks and I cut the quilt out with my scissors. Boy how things have changed!!
I made my first quilt for my family. All by hand with a pair of scissors and cardboard template. We used it for many years
Made my first quilt for my daughter. It was a trip around the world quilt.
I was in high school and I got paid to make “quilts” for May Company department store (Macy’s today). The quilts were whole cloth gingham with an eyelet ruffle. The were tied with yarn. I was paid by the piece and made quite a nice sum of money for a 14 year old. It was probably illegal, but certainly began the transition from sewing clothing to quilts. Congratulations on 95,000 subscribers!
I made my first quilt for my ‘brand new’ boyfriend in the year 2000! It has pinwheels on each block. We’re still together and he still has that quilt.
My first quilt was made to enter in the county fair as a 4-H project in 1971. I got a blue ribbon. It was out of double knit fabric which was all the rage back then. I still have it.
Congrats on 95000 subscribers!

Hello! I started quilting in 2021 and I made my first quilt for my mom. Congrats on 95k!
Congratulations on reaching the 95K mark. I’m sure glad your end goal is in sight. 🙂 I made my very first quilt for my first expected grand baby in 1999. I gave it to my daughter at her baby shower. That quilt is loved to this day by my granddaughter who even took it with her to college just to have something familiar and comfortable with her. Quilts do that, don’t they? I love them so much! Thanks Pat!
Congratulations Ms Sloan! 95k 🎉 When we were stationed at FE Warren AFB, Cheyenne WY, I signed up for a beginner quilt class at the community college (LCCC). I can’t remember the year but it was before rotary cutters! That means my first quilt was made for me and I still have it hanging on my quilt room wall.
Congrats on hitting 95K YT subscribers! My first quilt was in 2002 and was for me — a small (only 25″ inch square) wallhanging to try this thing called “Quilting” that I had learned about the year before from watching the “Simply Quilts” show. Having come from a clothing sewing background, I thought quilting was all about scraps and handwork. SQ introduced me to the wide world of quilting as a machine-based hobby and art form. I wasn’t sure if I’d like doing it or how long I’d stay interested so of course I have to laugh that I’m still here and loving it!
My first quilt was a joint effort with my sister. We made a log cabin blocks quilt for our Mema that now resides at our Mama’s home. It was one of the “quilt in a day” tops and I was hooked. I still love this technique for quilting.
I made my first quilt for me!! A friend posted a picture of a quilt she had made, and I thought, I can do that! And I did, but not very well!! I’ve had to repair some seams that burst and the binding is a mess but it’s my first and I’m proud of it 🙂

My first quilt was made for my daughter. My other daughter and DIL wanted one also so I ended up making them that same quilt. So actually I made my first quilt 3 times.
My first quilt was a sampler made with different techniques for each block! Needless to say I was very unsure of its quality so I folded it up and kept it! I do look at it now and have learned to like it! I will be giving it to one of my children!
My first quilt was a gift to myself. I was learning and wanted to get things right before I attempted to gift quilts to other people. Sure learned a lot since I picked a pretty tough pattern – grandmother’s fan. But I love it, mistakes and all.
Congrats on 95k members – I made my first quilt for a girlfriend from college – a baby quilt for her little one!
My first quilt was for my great nephew, Cooper. My niece bought her first home, and it was for his new bed!
My very first quilt I made for my daughter. She just loved it!!!
My first quilt was for my husband, it was a tumbling block. Queen size. I didn’t know how to finish it wit the uneven edges. And my Granda who taught me finished the quilting part. I still have to this day. 1986
About 1982 I made a full size medallion quilt for my youngest daughter. There were not cottons made for quilting back then so it was made with broadcloth blends and light weight decorator fabric. It was in pink big flower prints with a few calicos. Also no rotary cutters so templates and scissors were used. We’ve come a long way, baby!
The first quilt I made was for my nephew when he was about 6 years old. We are military and move a lot. I was very close to him in his younger years and didn’t want him to forget about me- so I made him a quilt full of super heroes he really liked.
My first quilt was made in 1974 for my husband and myself. I didn’t know what in the world I was doing; I just knew my paternal grandmother had made quilts and decided I wanted to make one. I had a ton of scraps from different items of clothing I had made for myself and I just started cutting out squares. I made a huge Trip Around the World quilt from corduroy and cotton fabrics and I even hand-quilted it ( once again, not knowing what I was doing). We still have this quilt and, though I have many other “better-looking” quilts now, this very first quilt was always my husband’s very favorite to sleep under. He always said it kept him so warm. This quilt still remains on a bed in our house to this very day.
My first quilt was for me. Took a beginning quilt class at a local quilt shop. Congrats on 95k!
I began quilting over 40 years ago making cathedral window pillows . My first quilt was for my daughter
The first quilt I made to give away, was a breast cancer quilt for my mom. I have it now since she passed away.
No one in my family Quilted but me. My first completed quilt was made for me first child. It was alternating squares of green yellow and white. We didn’t have any idea then which sex we would have, so it was neutral. I have never stopped quilting since that first quilt. Quilting has been a balm to my soul all these years!
I love watching your videos. Especially your fabric choosing process. So many quilt blocks, so little time.
My first quilt was made for my mom.
First quilt I made was a king size for my mom and dad. Was a double-sided quilt, Dresden plate on one side and applique iris flowers on the other. Mom still uses it.
My very first quilt was made for me. I still use it and love it. It was done in pinks and yellows and backed with shades of black and greys and a scrappy binding from leftover from top and backing. Lemonade quilt from fat quarter shop. Congratulations on 95,000 subscribers.
I, like so many quilters, made my first quilt for my first baby. When I found out I was pregnant now 37 years ago, I felt this baby should have a quilt, but the quilter in my family ( my grandma) had passed away. So I signed up for a class at my local quilt shop. The class was based on the book It’s Okay to Sit on My Quilt by Eleanor Burns. My daughter now has a daughter and that little very flawed quilt is in her nursery today. It makes me smile every time I see it. Thank you Pat for all the new quilters you have inspired. We are all a part of a legacy. One small moment in history.
I love the butterfly. The bottom right white and red square is placed wrong. It needs to be turned. You probably noticed it. I love those squares,
Thank you for all what you do. I never miss any of your shows.
Am not finding the Facebook; Fat Quarter Sewcialite layout site.
I’m so glad that your “Teach Me to Quilt” book will continue to be available! I have used it to teach beginning quilting at my local quilt store and it’s amazing. Really the only beginning book I ever recommend.
Thanks so much, Pat, for all you do.
