My favorite place to stitch is in a campground, I always take a bit of hand stitching along. When my mom & dad came camping with us, mom and I would sit and sew small blocks together by hand, after hiking. Pieces were all cut ahead of time, we made like little kits for ourselves. I miss that time together. It was always a treat when other campers would come visit our site to see what we were doing. It surprises me how many quilters go camping and hiking!

Stitching while camping π§΅πͺ‘βοΈ
Now to hiking. I think our most memorable hike was on the Application Trail in Tennesee. We hiked up to a bear shelter and stayed all night. On the trail up we saw a mother bear and 2 cubs. While we waited for them to leave we stayed out of their way but the cubs were curious about us. When they left where the mother had been was a sign posted that said recent bear activity in this place. That evening at the bear shelter the deer came out and were close enough we could hear them breathing.
I like to stitch in my recliner, with music or the TV on. My view out my window is of trees and nature which is very relaxing.
I have my stitching in a bag that can go with me wherever I am. I used to crost-stitch in the truth while my husband was working on his boat in a storage shed out of town. I could be near him if he needed help since there was no cell phone reception there. I got a lot done that way.
So easy to bring along while traveling..my hotel room was a great place to stitch and wind down π·
Hi Pat, I like to stitch outside in our backyard while my husband is working on our Garden Railroad. That way we are together enjoying the hobbies that each of us love!
I like to stitch with a group of my guild ladies who all do different types of hand sewing. We started during the pandemic at a park with a picnic table for each person and now we meet at a local building where one of our members is on the board( usually in the basement). Everyone just stitches on whatever they want to do! We are able to socially distance still
I don’t know if this is out of the oridinary but I often stitch in the car while on a long road trip.
I would always carry cross stich with me when I traveled for work. That way whether I was riding in a car or on an airplane I could work on a project. Made endless hours sitting in airports or on cross country or international flights easier. I substituted a pair of nail clippers to cut threads so as not to worry about security screening.
Not so out of the ordinary, I love the back porch for stitching in nice weather. It is shaded in the afternoon, and since I usually exercise the dogs first, they are content to snooze at me feet. Bliss!
It’s certainly not out of the ordinary, but I like to stitch in my sewing room while watching you tube videos. I do everything except sleep from my chair (well in all honesty, sometimes I do fall asleep). But I stitch, sew, cut, iron, work on the computer, watch TV and sometimes even eat right here in my everything chair!
I love to sit and cross stitch in my Adirondack chair at my garden potting shed. I have a little area carved out on the north side of the potting shed under trees and umbrellas surrounded BTW beautiful flowers, herbs, and veggies. Aaaaaaahhhhhhhβ¦..
two of my most favorite places for cross stitching would have to be either while sitting in my tree stand out in the woods or on road trips.
My place I stitch is no place special, lying in bed while still recovering from surgery. Your positive attitude Pat through all that you have been through is truly remarkable!P.S. I watched Kendell’s summer camp3 he does a great job explaining everything.
I love to cross-stitch when go to the mountains. My husband fishes and I stitch. Everyone is happy.
I like to stitch in the livingroom while watching TV.
I stitch a lot during my lunch hour at work. With 3 kids itβs tough to find me time at night.
I love to stitch sitting in the screened in back porch!!!!
I love taking stitching camping and sitting around the fire pit. So relaxing
I can’t think of an unusual place that I stitch, because I think I stitch everywhere. Every room in the house (except the loo) and even on the stairs..outside in my yard, I carry little bits in my pocket if I sit on the bench during my daily hike… on planes and in cars and at friends and in meetings at the beach.
Wherever I am asked to wait. Short of climbing a tree, I can’t think of an unusual place. I have thought of bringing it to movies while waiting, but the lighting is rarely good enough.
I like to stitch at work during the lunch hour. I put a baggie in my lunchbox and after I eat, I get it out and start sewing. This relaxes me for the rest of my work day.
Guess I’m no different then lots of others, I like to sit out on my screened in back porch, when it’s not too hot, and sew and enjoy the birds chirping.
Whenever I visit my dad, I stitch at the American Legion.
I love stitching on my deck, enjoying nature!
I’ve been known to stitch at my husband’s astronomical observatory using a red safety light.
I love to stitch anywhere I am – keeps my hands busy – Iβm the car, on the sofa, waiting rooms (including the ER with my spouse last week) – literally anywhere! Thanks for sharing!
My most out of ordinary stitching place is at my computer desk when I’m in a meeting. The camera does not show what I keep bending my head to tend to, most think I’m taking notes lol. I also stitch there when watching YouTube shows and tutorials. Otherwise I stitch at my arm chair in the living room.
I take my stitching with me to doctor appointments. It isn’t necessarily a FAVORITE place to stitch, but it passes the time when I’m stuck sitting there!! LOL
My favorite place to stitch is our sun porch with lots of sunlight which helps as my eyes age and it becomes more difficult to see the tiny holes. My out of the ordinary place to stitch is while riding in the car.
My favorite place to stitch is in the back yard enjoying the weather and my plants.
When we used to camp, I loved to take my cross stitch to work on in a camp chair in the afternoons. I could enjoy the sounds and smells of nature as I stitched!
I like to stitch on the couch or anywhere my granddaughter wants to sit beside me and help
I generally stitch at my kitchen peninsula, but now that summer is here you will also find me stitching at my grandsonβs soccer games.
Stitching for me is best done at the dining room table so I can use my OTT light and lean the frame on the table to have hands free. I use the magnetic board with the magnets to place under the line I’m working on, so the dining room table is truly the best way for me.
Hi Pat!! I have a deck out back which is really nice to sit in after dinner. I love to take either a stitch project or sometimes a crochet project and my husband and I will sit out there for a couple of hours.. Just very peacefull.
I haven’t stitched in years. I would love to get back into it. My favorite place to stitch is outside in my back yard in the evening shade. Enjoying nature and natural sunlight.
My most unusual place I cross stitched was at a baseball game. Nine innings is a long time to sit and do nothing. I made progress. Now was my husband a tad embarrassed, yes. πππ€ I enjoyed myself.
In the summertime the best place to stitch is sitting on my grandfather’s rocking chair on the front porch with a nice glass of ice tea beside me. In the wintertime you’ll find me beside the fireplace with my cup of hot chocolate…..
I love to sew on my patio when it is not so humid. I chain piece for hours while listening to the birds and squirrels fight.
One of the most out of the ordinary places I’ve sewn was at a concert in Anaheim California at Disneyland
Hi Pat, I also stitched in the break room at lunch when I was working. I am retired now so I stitch in my quilting room at my full size hand quilting frame. I cover it with a light board and will set up my supplies on it. My quilting room is my happy place and it gives me such peace. Don’t laugh, but I often play Christmas music. I am not much for watching TV. When we have traveled in the past, I also would stitch on the road.
I love to stitch in the car. It makes the time fly by and I can still converse with my husband.
I like to stitch in front of my computer. I watch Netflix and Amazon prime shows and it keeps me entertained. I, too, broke my arm last year and had cancer on my nose like you. They got it pretty quickly but I still have a scar. Thanks for all you do.
I used to stitch in the bathroom at my work on my lunch break. I was the only woman at the time working in the building so it was nice and quiet. There was a nice bench in there to sit on. It allowed me to escape and relax and by the end of my lunch break I was ready to go back to work.
I used to stitch in my fan back wicker chair in Indiana. When my husband got transferred to Camp Lejune in 2000 I stopped after finding you daily videos in Feb. You inspired me to try again and I am working on a snowman with hot cocoa for my friend for Christmas. I work on it in the early morning on my screened porch listening to the birds. So glad you inspired me again. Love all you share and do.
Stitching while riding the bus to student events.
We have a boat dock out near the lake where we store our boat and have fixed it up for summer weekends to enjoy. Iβm always bringing my stitching out there and like to sit and enjoy the view with my stitching in hand! Truly the best place to stitch for me!
Favorite place to stitch is around camp fire with family.
I don’t know how “out of the ordinary” my space is, but it suits me! I have claimed a corner of our sunroom. The sun provides perfect lighting all day, and my old, OLD, easy chair and ottoman are the best companions for putting my feet up and stitching away.
I like to take my cross stitch in the hospital. It seems Iβm always there waiting on someone so I just carry it in my car and automatically grab it when I go there. Itβs nice and quiet and peaceful and I actually get quit a bit done.
