My favorite place to stitch is in a campground, I always take a bit of hand stitching along. When my mom & dad came camping with us, mom and I would sit and sew small blocks together by hand, after hiking. Pieces were all cut ahead of time, we made like little kits for ourselves. I miss that time together. It was always a treat when other campers would come visit our site to see what we were doing. It surprises me how many quilters go camping and hiking!

  1. I guess the most unusual place I’ve stitched is on train trips to see my kids in ND. There’s plenty of time to watch the scenery go by while I stitch. Thanks for the generous give away!

  2. Crosstitch is very new to me and I have old eyes so the only place I stitch is in my TV room chair. I have a very great lighted magnifier there.

  3. When I used to cross stitch it was all the time and everywhere! The kids used to tell me I had thread in my hair when I left for work in the morning. I was obsessed with it. Now quilting has taken it’s place but I still long for my cross stitch fun and challenge. I do have a Victorian theme wall in my computer room where I’ve hung my completed and much loved cross stitch Victorian houses.

  4. I really don’t have a favorite place but I love to cross stitch/embroidery when everyone has gone to bed and the house is quite. I watch a movie or listen to music as I stitch away. I often lose track of time, so its usually late night or early morning before I know it.

  5. My favorite place to stitch is on our side porch in the summertime. It’s covered and somewhat private but I can see people walking by so I can also people watch with out them seeing me😃

  6. I don’t have an unusual place I like to stitch. When I do cross stitch I set in the corner of my couch watching a tv show. I’m going to have to find my own unusual space though, sounds more relaxing.

  7. I stitch in my camper while my husband watches TV! lol No really , I stitch wherever I go, carrying it in my pretty little bags from FQS.

  8. My favorite place to stitch is in my easy chair because it has the best lighting available, but I take my cross stitch everywhere I go on errands or with the grandkids for their activities!

  9. I love to stitch on my screened in porch so I can have the sights and sounds of outdoors without insects.

  10. When I worked night shifts in the cardiac unit, I would cross stitch to stay alert and to pass the time while the patients slept. It was fun to see the designs grow, and I looked forward to working nights.

  11. Does it count if I do not have an unusual place to stitch? How about fictional answers? Here goes: horseback! Or if you don’t believe that, how about the local park next to the lake? I think I’ll go with that one. Thanks, Pat.

  12. It’s been awhile since I’ve cross switched, been wanting to get back into it, a lot of ufo’s, my favorite place was on the couch after the kids went to bed.

  13. My favorite place to stitch is at any camp ground that I stay at – sitting outside with nature. I love camping and creating.

  14. I like to stitch in my vehicle during break times at work…it is a great chance to relax my mind and just enjoy the simple things in life with the bonus of getting projects done.

  15. I haven’t cross stitched since I was a teen. I used to cross stitch at my pastor’s house with his wife when I was there to play with their son. He would get into trouble and be in a time out, so I would sit and stitch with his mom. 😂

  16. I stitch in the evenings after I finish sewing for the day. I snuggle up in bed and stitch to relax after a long day.

  17. Because I don’t have a fenced in yard I enjoy stitching while sitting in my back yard watching my dog enjoy the outdoors. We both enjoy the experience and frequently my husband will join in. My cat will sit at the window, he doesn’t do outdoors, and watch. I guess you could say it is a family affair.

  18. I don’t know if I’d call it unusual, but on the back deck on a lounge chair in the afternoon after the sun is on the other side of our apartment

  19. I love cross stitching, always take a project with me when traveling either by car or by plane. Especially love the Santa baby project, since I collect santas it will be a nice addition, I’ll have to order that one at least. Thanks for sharing all your projects with us. Enjoy watching your videos.

  20. I like to stitch when camping on the picnic table next to the camper when it’s not to hot. Or in my favorite chair in front of the tv on hot days

  21. I like to stitch outdoors on my patio when cool enough. However, I wish I had a front porch with a swing…that is where my Grandmother taught me how to stitch. She also was an excellent quilter. I named my sewing machine after her ‘Opal’. I think she would be proud that I started to quilt but not until my sixties.

  22. I enjoy stitching while I’m visiting my 91 year old mother. She has dementia and lives in a skilled nursing facility. She was a lifelong seamstress and enjoys watching me sew. She can still do a little embroidery when she’s in the mood.

  23. The only time I do any hand stitching is when we’re out camping, well it’s actually glamping in the RV , it’s just totally quiet and without distractions and I can get more done in a small amount of time

  24. Most out of the ordinary place I have cross stitched is at the hospital, either during coffee breaks while working there or waiting in emergency with one of my children. Thank you for all you do Pat!

  25. Down in my beautifully finished basement in my big over stuffed chair. I lay out my floss over the arms and sit for hours just stitching away.

  26. Good-weather days, my favorite place to hand stitch (cross stitch, embroidery, hexagon piecing) is on a bench under our backyard oak tree with an iced coffee. Not so good-weather days, I’ll be curled up in my comfortable armchair with hand stitching and hot coffee.

  27. My husband has classic cars. When we go to the car shows, I take along my stitching so that I have something to occupy my time. It is amazing how many people ask me what I’m stitching, as they check out my husbands car.

  28. My favorite place to stitch which isn’t really out of the ordinary is in my living room my feet up and magnifying light at my elbow listening to an audio book. I have tried to cross stitch in the van while traveling (DH driving) but often road is too bumpy to stitch properly.

  29. I love to hike into the mountains and sit by a little stream and stitch and listen to the sound of the water.

  30. My favorite place to stitch is anywhere I happen to be! I keep a cross stitch project in a bag that I can just pick up when I go out the door.

  31. I like to cross stitch on the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island where my daughter lives. I just finished Bev’s “Happy Camper” cross stitch for my DIL’s mother who just retired from teaching.

  32. I don’t really have a favorite place to stitch – I enjoy stitching where every I can (sewing room, car, waiting rooms, retreats, etc.)

  33. I’m not sure it is unusual but I love to cross stitch in my gazebo in the summer months and in my favorite rocking chair which I inherited from my grandmother almost any time.

  34. My favorite place to stitch out of the ordinary is my front porch looking at the lake. It takes some effort bringing things from upstairs but is sew worth it.

  35. Definitely my deck, but I will soon be stitching from a wheelchair. Foot surgery on July 4th and cannot put weight on the foot for 6 weeks. I need lots of small projects this summer.
