My favorite place to stitch is in a campground, I always take a bit of hand stitching along. When my mom & dad came camping with us, mom and I would sit and sew small blocks together by hand, after hiking. Pieces were all cut ahead of time, we made like little kits for ourselves. I miss that time together. It was always a treat when other campers would come visit our site to see what we were doing. It surprises me how many quilters go camping and hiking!

  1. IWhile living all over the world while my husband was in the military. I loved to stitch since we didn’t have TV but now I do it on vacation. When I was working, I love to stitch while I was proctoring test since it was sew quite!

  2. I love to cross stitch in bed before I go to sleep. It relaxes me before bed. I also like to cross stitch outside listening to the birds.

  3. I keep a stitching bag ready to go, baseball games, emergency room visits, and any meetings and performances if they don’t turn the lights out!

  4. My favorite place to stitch is outside on my screened in porch. I love watching the bluebirds and deer in my backyard.

  5. I don’t think I have an out of the ordinary place for stitching. I stitch in my easy chair. Keep my supplies close by. I have taken my cross stitch bag along on trips so i could stitch while riding.

  6. I just started cross stitching again and am enjoying it along with my quilting. I call it my evening couch work. Love hearing stories about summer camp and remembering time as a camper and counselor.

  7. Although our crafting studio has all the amenities, I prefer to stitch in our home office, which has a nice old lamp that lights up my handwork perfectly!

  8. I have cross stitched a little. The oddest place was on the ferry that we take to the city. Thsnk you Pat.

  9. I usually cross stitch in my living room. If it is a simple amount of stitches. If it is more complex then I really have to concentrate then it would be at my dining room table.

  10. Love love watching your program. I never miss one. I do most of your sew along bags and other projects. Your so giving. Thank you thank you for all you do.

  11. My husband built me a gazebo during the quarantine. He then built me a water feature right next to it. I like to “escape” there and can stitch into the late hours away from all the mosquitoes and while listening to the water. My little oasis.

  12. I guess I am a little boring, stitch in my living room recliner. I do always have a “helper”, my little fur baby thinks if I have time to sit in recliner then I have time to snuggle and pet him so he is always on my lap.

  13. My favorite place where I get the most cross stitching done is at my son’s home in Nevada. I take it with when I am visiting him for a week or two and I get a lot done.

  14. I love to stitch at car shows! My husband and I have a 1971 MGB that we take to car shows and I absolutely love to sit up my chair and umbrella and stitch while listening to people comment on our sweet little ride.

  15. I haven’t stitched in a long time but I am now retired from teaching and find that I can again enjoy quilting and stitching during the day. For me, stitching and hand quilting in my backyard during the day on a weekday seems almost decadent.

  16. I love to stitch on my front deck on my porch swing on small projects with my basket of supplies. On hot days, I’ll stitch upstairs in my green comfy chair overlooking the woods behind our house. Hubby likes it when I stitch there so he’ll sometimes drive by on the tractor and wave and blowing me a kiss. 😘

  17. I usually stitch during my lunch break at work. One of my favorite places to stitch is on bus trips! It always seems to start a conversation and I get to meet so many nice people. One time when I was on a cruise, I was stitching in one of the lounges and I had so many people stop and ask what I was working on!! Such fun!

  18. Iused to live in a very busy neighborhood with very small yards. When I sat on my porch to stitch, neighbors would constantly stop to chat. A lovely thing, but I didn’t get much stitching done! If I wanted some alone time stitching, I would climb up into our kids tree house! Not very high, but it hid me from the passers by.

  19. I now sew my cross stitch in my recliner in my sewing room. But my fondest memories is when we spent 3 months in Florida every year. I sat on my couch with a big window behind me that let in the sun so could see those tiny holes. Ah, memories.

  20. I love to stitch on our upstairs porch. Quiet, breezy and right off my sewing room. My dog Hudson likes to hang out there, too. Lots of trees and birds with occasional walkers down below. The overgrown crape myrtles are blooming now and the upstairs porch will be covered with tiny white flowers. A little snow shower in June. I’m inspired by your resilience with your wrists and skin cancer. You deal with things and move on and meet lots of goals. I want to be more like you in the Sloan Zone.

  21. I stitch whenever I can…I’ve stitch in my screen porch, in the car on long road trips, I used to stitch while watching youth baseball games!

  22. I stitch (embroidery and cross stitch) from anywhere. My car when traveling, at the lake, in the living room, all the typical places. Would love to learn to stitch in another way with these stitch kits!

  23. My out of the ordinary place to stitch is road-trips or when we take our trail horses on weekend trips. It’s a living quarters horse trailer so we still have the comforts of home once we get set up. I too bring along my little 1949 Singer Featherweight and do some piecing in the evenings after we’ve ridden and it’s relax time. Love all the new Cross stitch patterns you showed…I think right now you are my biggest enabler 🙌🏼😎😊

  24. I like to hand stitch in our RV when hubby is driving and we are driving for a couple of hours , or out on the deck enjoying nature

  25. Hi pat my first time leaving a comment, I like to sit on my front porch and watch friends drive by, we have a pond with a covered bridge in our front yard neighbors with small children stop by and fish I love to watch them catch their first fish those are some of my reasons for sitting on the front porch

  26. I love to stitch anywhere close to nature; my backyard patio, the forest preserve where I enjoy walking, or any vacation destination we enjoy. Birdsong and fresh air makes everything better.

  27. I like sitting on my back patio in the early morning to enjoy the garden while the temps are still somewhat cool.

  28. I don’t really stitch, but it is something I would like to learn to do. I go camping quite a bit and looking for something small to take with me. So my spot would be at camp.

  29. I just plain love to stitch, before 9/11, I did lots of smocking on my planes rides( traveled for work a lot), but out of the ordinary, hmmmmm, I guess my back deck in the cool mornings or summer evening when the humidity is low. Thanks Pat for all you do for this community of stitchers!

  30. Hmmm… I don’t think I have an unusual place to stitch. Sometimes it’s based on project size, or the weather. Too hot right now to be out in the swing where I sometimes like to work. My fall back, and favorite place, is my rocker in front of a window.

  31. I love to stitch on the window seat in my sewing room. I can look out the window and see the lake behind me and the birds at the bird feeder.

  32. I am sorry, I got distracted by the ☕️ 🏠 needle minder and chain pull, also the ☕️ mug that Life 🪡🧵🤪 is cross Stitching. What was the question?🤔

  33. You have inspired me to get working on a cross stitch I started years ago. Thank you! My favorite place to cross stitch so these days is at quilt group! I’m recovering from surgery and cannot carry my machine and supplies into the hostess home, but it is easy enough to tote my cross stitch. I love being with the girls, chatting, laughing, seeing their quilt projects and actually making a little stitching progress myself.

  34. I stitch anywhere! My favorite place is on my back porch in the morning before it gets too hot! A lovely place to be anytime! I love how portable stitching is and that I can take it camping or while I watch tv!

  35. I stitch in the car during our 4-hour ride to our summer home at the Jersey shore. Makes the time go much faster!

  36. I like to.stitch when I visit with friends or we go to our”theater “ in our clubhouse to watch a movie. I usually get a large area half crossed so I can just go back and finish. I would Crosstitch in the car but I’m the only driver in our family LOL

  37. Good morning Pat,
My favorite place to cross stitch is on my sofa in front of the big window, I enjoy stitching with natural light. Once we finish the outside landscaping, I will be able to cross stitch outside.

  38. I like to stitch while sitting on the patio – I can watch the birds at the feeder, the chipmunks, the squirrels, and the occasional deer!

  39. I love to sew, stitch and quilt in our garage. In the summertime we have screens that go up and the cars live outside and we live in the garage and that is the best place to quilt, stitch and sew with no bugs and a summer breeze🤗💕☕️

  41. I have not stitched anything in a while but this Christmas stitch-along might get me back into it! I don’t have anywhere unusual that I stitch, just on one of my 2 sofas so I can be comfy. 😁
    Mary Jo

  42. One of my favorite places to stitch is sitting on the front porch. I can get quite a bit done late in the evening after the sun goes down. Just turn on the outside light and enjoy the nightly breeze as you stitch right along. Thanks for all you dol

  43. I haven’t stitched in years but when I did it was in the evenings at my relaxing station-also known as an Easy Chair, Lazy Boy, etc-hahaha. Thank you Pat for the chance at winning your give away. It would be fun craft to pick up again.

  44. No ‘out of the ordinary’ for me. I always cross-stitch at night sitting on the sofa with my two small dogs next to me. I positioned an Ott light on the sofa table located behind me to shine over my left shoulder. I secure my cross-stitch fabric in wood frames, which provides a great tight even surface to work on. I don’t like to wash my work after completion, so I make sure to wash my hands prior to stitching and then every hour during stitching. For large projects I use a floor stand to hold the framed fabric. For me, the most important thing is lighting, lighting, and lighting. This allows me to work on high stitch count projects with minimal eye strain.

  45. I haven’t cross stitched in awhile… ok, years… but have been thinking of starting up again. Something to do in front of the TV in the evenings when there’s no binding to sew on by hand.

  46. I usually stitch in the evenings while watching TV, but sometimes I sit outside on the patio and stitch while watching our goats in a nearby pasture.
