** Charity Fundraiser with my Merch! **

Gregg and I are partnering with our wonderful friends, Kate & Pete Spain, to host a fundraiser for World Central Kitchen. They were on the ground feeding everyone when a disaster hits. My brother in Asheville, NC, experienced their help firsthand when they were helping his community. He was so impressed by their kindness. We want to support this fantastic group and all the hard work they do to help others.

  1. I just cleaned and organized my sewing room. I put all my scrap fabric in one tote now and am planning this year to make a quilt with it. I am needing ideas!

  2. Just recently, I have begun sewing my cutoffs into quilt blocks. Many different sizes, mostly crumb with no real designs but much better than stuffing them into a plastic baggie for “ later use” which never really happens.

  3. After a long sewing hiatus, I grabbed my 1.5 inch strips and divided them into warm and cool colors. I sewed the warm strips in sets of 5 and cut them into squares. In split rail fashion, I laid them out into a quilt. It certainly was a no think project and it got me sewing again. And then I found pat sloan’s youtube. I’ve been a sewing maniac ever since.

  4. My favorite scrap quilt I have made is a long cabin quilt that I made from leftover scraps from the masks we made during Covid.

  5. The majority of the quilts I make are scrap quilts. My favorite scrap quilt so far is one I made this year with sampler blocks from twenty years ago; I made string blocks to pull it together. I still need to quilt it.

  6. My mom made a scrape quilt with squares and half square triangles. I love how the colors come together. She faced the quilt so no binding to interfere with the design.

  7. My favorite scrap quilt is probably the one my mom made in the late ’70’s. It’s a Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt that she used fabrics from clothes she had made for herself or me 🙂 Every time I get it out to put on the bed, I reminisce about seeing her in pants or shirts she wore with these fabrics.

  8. I recently started my first scrappy quilt using reds and beiges. I was inspired by Pat’s lemon chiffon blocks.

  9. I have not made a scrappy quilt yet, still building up my scrap stash till I have enough to do so, but I did purchase a scrap quilt at a thrift store. I think it was $15 and it was about 15 years ago that I bought it. It hangs on my Quilt ladder in the living roomand I just love to see the fabrics that remind me of the 70s 80s clothing patterns thank you for the giveaway Pat, I always love your show.

  10. I made a strip quilt when I first started quilting. I had a bunch of “scraps” left over and I said, what the heck…It turned out for a king size bed, I quilted it. It turned out 108×112. It was a challenge, but well worth it. It was a memory of items that I made for other folks.

  11. I am in process of cutting scraps into squares and strips to make scrappy quilts because I love the look of scrappiness!

  12. I have been waiting for ideas to use up my mountain of scraps. This book looks amazing. Thanks Pat for sharing and for giving one away. Love starting my day in the Sloan Zone❣️

  13. My faavorite quilt isn’t finished yet but I hope to have it finished by February 23rd. That is my youngest granddaughter’s birthday. She knows I am working on quilts and she said “I want a quilt with all different little blocks of different colors, I think that would be beautiful!” I started on a 2 1/2 inch block quilt making it in 16 inch block section adding scraps and mini charms as I go during other quilting projects. MY hope is to finish it by her birthday. She is currently a Freshman in Highschool.

  14. Zero Waste Quilting, yes please! Patty did a beautiful job on showing us how to use scraps! I have 10 very large bags color coded and themed waiting for projects! Charity quilts would be perfect! Our guild gives away many charity quilts to children and adults plus raffles!

  15. I have been making and collecting scrappy blocks but haven’t yet made them into a quilt. My grandma made my son a crazy scrap quilt when he became a big brother. I love it because it has pieces of everything from old clothing to a Halloween tea towel! Use what you have.

  16. My favorite scrap quilt is the Friendship Quilt made with all 6.5 inch HST. I use the quilt all the time and it reminds me of all my previous quilts as it includes my scraps and many of my friends scraps as well.

  17. I love to make scrap quilts and find new ways to use the scraps. My favorite scrap quilt was made with mostly dark browns and reminds me of chocolate. I used improvisation.

  18. My favorite scrappy quilt I just finished has string blocks paired with denim blocks that I embroidered my kids and gkids names on.

  19. My scraps are given to my sister-in-law who makes beautiful things. When I see her quilts with bits of my fabric I feel like I have made a quilt. This book may would encourage me to step out of my comfort zone and use some of those scraps myself.

  20. My scrappiest quilt was one I just kept taking strips of any width and sewing them on an angle to a black strip in the middle. I put the squared up blocks in long rows, bordered in black and made a 60 x 80 inch quilt donated to a Camp quilt auction. The black really set off all the colors. I also have a case full of crumb blocks of various sizes waiting to be used. Loved all the ideas in this book.

  21. My favorite scrappy quilt that I made was using the Moda scrap bags. I just cut the pieces down to 1-1/2 inch strips and sewed them together.

  22. My mother was a collector of fabric and Quilt books, but she had never made a quilt. Neither had I. When she was 81 years old, I talked her into using her fabric collection to make a quilt. At the time I knew very little about quilting, although I had sewn all my life. I chose a quilt that was quilt you go that I had seen on an old Fons and Porter show. That year, my mother and I cut and sewed and had such pleasure sifting through her significant fabric collection. My mother did most of the cutting, and I did the sewing. Together we finished the quilt. I can’t begin to describe the pleasure she took, viewing her quilt on her bed, and seeing many of the pieces of fabric that she had collected over her lifetime. It was the first quilt for both of us, and it was made with love.

  23. I am new to the quilting world so my scrap quilt is on going. Everytime I finish a project I cut down my left overs to 5″ squares, 2.5″ squares, 2.5″ strips and 1.5″ strips. Then anything smaller goes into my scrap basket. As I work on a project I pull from the scrap basket for leaders and enders creating 9.5″ blocks of randomness. My goal is to make enough to sew a jacket. I’m really close!

  24. After my best friend’s mother past away, she gifted me some of her mother’s scraps and stash. So I surprised my friend and made her a quilt using the 5” squares. She loved it! It is very special to her and I loved her reaction to receiving the finished project. ❤️

  25. I love scraps! Many are sewn onto phone book squares or adding machine tape. I love to do foundation paper piecing and small pieces of fabric are perfect!

  26. I recently made a scrap quilt and have enough scraps to make at least 10 more quilts!! 😱 I’m interested in ideas for more.

  27. As a fairly new quilter, I am very interested in learning how to think through making a scrappy quilt. This book looks like it would be a great help for a newbie like me.

  28. My favorite scrap quilt is a Bonnie hunter mystery quilt from a few years back. I worked it from my scrap pile,
But I have plenty more scraps to use up.

  29. Sadly, I have never made a scrap quilt! I have made a few scrap blocks ( string blocks) and really enjoy the ease of doing it without having to be so precise! This book looks wonderful and I would love to have it to “walk me through “ the steps to make something beautiful with all my scraps !

  30. My only scrappy quilt is the Scrappiness is Happiness quilt from the quilt-a-long. It was my very first quilt, and I had no idea what I was doing, but I muddled through and got all the blocks done. It’s a hodgepodge of colors. I put it away before finishing it. I took it out again this fall and hung it on my design wall. I am determined to finish it this winter.

  31. Last year I decided to focus on making scrap quilts. I love every one of them. I now have over 600 crumb blocks. 2025 will be the year I sew with them!

  32. When I came back to quilting a few years ago, the first quilt I made was a color box log cabin for my two-year old grandson. Each block began with a different primary color out of a primary 8-color crayon box and the strips built out in a rainbow pattern. All of the strips came from my scrap stash. It turned out so cute and my grandson practiced his colors while using it.

  33. I haven’t made a scrappy quilt yet but I do use my scraps if I need a random piece to use in any quilt I’m making. I am planning on making a scrappy quilt tho someday for sure.

  34. My favorite scrap quilt is a baby quilt I just made using all my aqua and teal scraps! I was inspired by your past project to use the kite block papers, and I’m so happy with how it turned out!

  35. I have kept the scraps from making my log cabin memory quilt to use for a quilt project, but have used very few of the scraps. It is a bucket list project.

  36. My favorite scrap quilt I’ve made was once with all 2.5 inch squares that I cut fromfrom years’ of quilting scraps. I love looking at it as the various fabrics remind me of other quilts and projects and people I love.

  37. My favorite scrappy quilt was making many string blocks (used any style fabric/color scrap); then I put them into a quilt, using a 1″ gray sashing & red cornerstones to unify the blocks. Turned out great!

  38. I make scrap quilts a lot for charity at charities at church. I tend to cut my scraps into 5” and 2.5. So Pats traffic jam is my favorite to use up those. Would love to have this book.

  39. My favorite scrape quilt is one that my Mother made many years ago. She always made our clothes as kids and made quilts with the leftovers. The quilts bring back such memories

  40. I have never made a scrap quilt. Now I’ve only been quilting since 2021 and I have several scraps that I need copy of the book would be great.

  41. I’ve only ever made one and that was the Scrappiness is Happiness quilt. I do, however, have several containers of scraps that I sometimes go through looking for just the right piece and have a container where I put strips waiting for the day I decide to start a strip quilt.

  42. I haven’t made a scrap quilt yet, but I am in the process of making a postage stamp quilt, we shall see how it turns out.

  43. My favorite scrap quilt to make has been the selvage quilt you inspired , Red Zinger! I still need to quilt it!

  44. My go to scrap quilt are scrappy string blocks pieced on telephone directory pages. I have made many baby quilts with that technique. They are so fun and become unintentional “I Spy Quilts”.

  45. my favorite scrap quilt is one where i sit the biggggg box of scraps next to my chair and i reach in and grab a piece and sew it in to a fabric square it doesnt matter the shape the size the color i sew it on i am not allowed to put it back in the box and grab another. those blocks are wild crazy and relaxing and so fun.
