I just made aprons for Christmas gifts. We did our gifts in June when we could be to gather. No time to make more now I need to make a wedding dress and many other things for the wedding in October.
I went ahead and purchased the Craftsy class “The Easy Modern Apron” this weekend since they had a great sale. I was in Europe for a month earlier this summer and visited a couple of quilt shops, and purchased two coordinating sets of fat quarters of authentic German fabric. This apron pattern was perfect for incorporating the use of several fabrics.
I bought my Emmeline apron pattern last year and have been dying to make it so this challenge came up just in time!
I have quite a number of apron patterns because they are just so darn cute. I keep thinking I will make some of them, but just never get it done. This is just the nudge I needed to make one or more for myself and maybe some gifts as well. I just retired and now “should” have more time for the fun stuff.
I am so excited to say that I am wanting to make the Artisan Apron by Janet Clare!!!! Awaiting my pattern in the mail~ Love me some aprons and this is the perfect ‘excuse’ to make another!!! I haven’t chosen my fabric yet but love how Janet uses a blank slate to stitch her own inspirational messages on her own apron.
Perfect timing, I need something different to think aout.
Oh Pat, is there a pattern for your Neighbour apron?!! I love it! I like a bib-type apron to keep more of me clean but a strap around my neck bothers me. So the kind that sits on my shoulders is wonderful.
Hi Pat! I just uploaded my apron which I made with the Sunday Drive Batiks and it came out wonderfully! The Pattern was by Pacific Crescent Quilting – Fat Quarter Reversible Apron from 2006. The Company is closed so the pattern is no longer available except I saw one on ebay and one on etsy. I have a question. Since the Company is closed is the copyright still valid? I would love to share this pattern by making photocopies – but is that allowed? I wouldn’t want to infringe on a copyright but it’s a really cute and fun pattern. Thanks for your help or enlightenment concerning this.

I was planning on making a couple aprons for a friend who is a cook at a restaurant. I had ordered the pattern and a couple fabrics. This will give me the incentive to get it done. Thanks Pat!
I found some Christmas fabric I bought years ago to make an apron. But decided the pattern I had was too long and I stuffed it away. Came across it when I was looking for something else! Lucky me! I had forgot all about it! I just found a cute apron pattern so I’m all set!
I’m curious, does anyone wear a sewing apron? I have never really thought about doing this until I saw this challenge and I thought I would kind of like to have one with big pockets in front for my scissors etc. that I’m constantly carrying back and forth across my sewing room. Many times I sew in the morning and have places to go in the afternoon and I look down at my clothes and I have thread and stuff all over my clothes. It would be nice to be able to just take off the apron and leave.
Love this. Just the motivation I need to
Use the cute apron pattern I have bought but not made yet, now to go through my stash.
I have elephant fabric that I bought to make an apron for my girlfriend when she was remodeling her kitchen. But that project turned into her daughters wedding so I never made the apron. Now is the time!
When you first talked about this, I went out and found an apron and made it. LOL
I will be good and not use that one. 😀 I have some cutie patootie fabric to make another. Thanks for this fun sew along!!
Can you use a printed panel apron & then embellish it?
Made one years ago Still have. Gonna see if I can duplicate in a new fabric.
I have the perfect pattern called the church ladies pattern so now to choose some pretty fabrics !
Thanks Pat,
This is so perfect as I need a new apron! I wear one in the kitchen all the time. Always have. Yippee!
The directions say BUY a pattern. Does that mean I can’t use a free pattern or just a figure it out as I go design out of my head??
Sounds like a fun sewing project. My mind is already clicking away. Which apron style to make up? Full or half apron? To use a pattern or not? To make up the kind that my crafty senior citizens like to use at the flea markets or not? The kind my DIL uses around the house? The adult bib-like apron? Maybe I’ll make up more than one. That will work out and decide which one to enter. Have about a month to decide…
I a. A horde of patterns, and the local quilting store is having a ,massive sale this week … I have been promising my granddaughters coordinating aprons for a year now … timing is perfect!!!
I need to get a pattern – sounds like fun

Hi Pat,
lovely idea and I do hope I can find some time to do this – so busy with studies, but I guess I can put down the pen for an hour or two.
Thanks for the challenge.

Marian
I have some fabric that would be perfect. Has ironing boards and irons, now I have to look for a pattern. Sounds fun.
My daughter brought me a piece of vintage fabric 50’s/60’s? (oddly shaped) and asked me to make her an apron out of it. It may require some finagling to get it done- she wanted a bib front… Now I need to find that piece of material.
How FUN!!! I bought an apron pattern at our local quilt fabric store (Sewn Loverly) a few years ago. I’ve even had the fabric! Now I have motivation to actually do it!!!!! Okay…. What did I do with that fabric? Ahhhhhhh!
Thank you, Pat. I’m excited to begin! I have so many apron patterns! It will take me longer choosing the pattern and fabrics than to make it! 🙂
I just bought a pattern and fabric! I’ll see if I can get it done.
