The Random picker decided my Logcabin quilt should live with Joann S who said

"My favorite quilt is the first quilt I ever made! My daughter wanted to learn to quilt and she convinced me to take a couple of classes at our fabric store – I was only mildly enthusiastic about quilting – even though I had been a sewer for years. I decided to check out additional classes for us at my local quilt shop and there on the wall was this wonderful quilt with birds on branches. When I asked about it – they told me they were having a retreat the following weekend to make this quilt! I signed up -( my daughter couldn’t attend for family reasons). I made that quilt, which I adore ( it hangs in my sewing room!). Since making that quilt, I am completely hooked on quilting! I had heard people talk about quilting as an addiction, but didn’t understand it until then. This was the quilt that got me to become a quilter!"

Congratulations Joann! I've emailed you

Giveaway rules that I have to tell you about

1,214 Responses

  1. I just finished a pair of quilts that are my current favorites. They are made with wonky bird blocks in different shapes and sizes. One was done in pale colors and the other in brighter, darker fabrics.

  2. My first favorite quilt I made and completed is grandmothers flower garden. I took a class at an old Ben Franklin Store in a small town in Ohio. The fabric I used was purchased from an old warehouse full of fabrics and buttons. What a great place to wonder around in for hours. Wow that was in the early 80’s. Another quilt I love is a Log Cabin quilt that I made in all solids with a black background, very Amish looking. Thank you.

  3. My favorite quilt is one of the first ones I made for my bestie who was having her 10 year cancer free anniversary. It was Moda’s Stitch Pink. She cried when I gave it to her 😊

  4. My favorite quit I made for my Granddaughter’s graduation present. It was a 4 patch with all different colors. She takes it with her wherever she goes. She says she love it which makes me feel so good. I told her it was like having a hug from me when she needed one.

  5. Congratulations on the 100k subscribers. My favourite quilt is a granny square quilt I recently finished.

  6. My favorite quilt that I own, and that I made, is a scrappy greens and neutrals quilt. It always makes me smile.

  7. My favorite quilt is a quilt that my great grandmother applique a bouquet of flowers on then I quilted it. It took me about 8 years to finish as it would only work on it when I had a chance.

  8. My favorite quilt is one I made after my dad and brother passed. It features a red cardinal panel. I added borders and a heart for each of them. Nothing very difficult, just made to keep their memory close.

  9. My favorite to meme quilt was an Irish Chain that my mother and I made. My daughter was 2 or 3 and sat on my Lap to sew with us. It went to Ireland to my Aunt.

  10. Congratulations Pat!!!
My favorite quilt I’ve made is one that I put on the back of my sofa. I handmade some butterfly appliqué shapes using fabric from my mom who has passed and added embroidery. It has nine patch blocks of beautiful floral fabrics alternating the butterfly blocks.

  11. My Snoopy and Charlie Brown quilt I made for my niece. I embroidered each of the characters on their own individual blocks. I alternated them with blocks of multiple Charlie Brown/Snoopy novelty fabrics. I added top and bottom vertical piano key borders cut in 1.5”, 2”, 2.5” strips from 12 Crayola fat quarters. The piano key borders had 2.5” black top and bottom borders before attaching to body of quilt. I liked the quilt with just the blocks. But I LOVE the quilt with the additional borders! BTW, I used AccuQuilt strip dies for the piano keys and borders – game changer.

  12. My favorite quilt is the blue and white sampler quilt with one red block–my mom’s favorite. I made it as she was severely declining with Alzheimer’s and whenever I see the red block I remember her.

  13. My favorite quilt is one I made for my husband a few years ago using Phoebe’s Flower Box pattern in masculine colors of blues and grays. We keep it on our bed.

  14. my favorite quilt after it was done was my Baby Jane. which was the dear Jane blocks but decided to be done and made a smaller version with the blocks I had done.

  15. My favorite quilt I made was my very first one! It was just a simple flannel rag quilt but I made it for a very special man. He was a friend of my mother. They worked together for over 45 years and when my mother became ill and could no longer work he visited her faithfully every Sunday afternoon for over 10 years until her death. He loved fishing and the flannel fabrics had fish, lures, tied flies, fish baskets, etc. I embroidered a design in the middle of the blender blocks. He loved it and used it for 15 years until his own death. Thank you for all you do for the quilting community and for this walk down it memory lane for myself.

  16. My favorite quilt that I made is my red and white quilt. All made with flying geese and I was so happy with all the points. My long armer said this would be a great one to submit to a quilt show. This hangs on the wall in our bedroom.

  17. My favorite quilt that I made was one that I embroidered hummingbirds onto and it was also my first quilt! It was a log cabin style! I still use it and love it!

  18. My favorite quilt I made was my first one that I ever made. I made it for my first child before she was born in 1976. It had raggedy Ann and Andy in blocks and was so bright and cheerful.

  19. My favorite quilt is a Civil War Sampler. I began making the quilt with my very good friend, Diane, when I lived on the Oregon coast over 10 years ago. Diane and I loved fabric shopping together and we both wanted to do a BOM with our favorite color – burgundy! We looked and looked for just the right pattern. We finally found it in a book of great patterns curated by a quilt shop in Nebraska. We had been collecting fabrics for months as we searched for our patterns. We began making our blocks and had fun sharing with one another as we finished a block or two. Sadly, my friend died a few years later and never finished her quilt. As it sometimes happens, life “got in the way” and my quilt was slow to finish, but I did finally finish it last year and just love it. I named it “Remembrance” in memory of my friend, Diane. I miss her so much.

  20. My favorite quilt I have made has to be your “Oh My Stars”. I have made 7 quilts using this pattern. Five were made as I spy quilts with the stars being the childs favorite color for our 3 great nieces and 2 great nephews. The other two were made for adults. I love that pattern as it goes together rather fast.

  21. The most favorite quilt I have finished is the Home Is quilt. It’s the 2nd quilt I made from Pat Sloan’s patterns. I used red, white, and blue fabric from a collection and from my stash. I machine appliqued my two cats’ silhouettes. I paid someone to quilt it for me. It is hanging in my living room. I enjoy looking at it every day.

  22. I have many quilts I have made over the years that are favorites, but this past April/May, I cut strips for a strip pieced/ quilt as you go quilt, with my sweet Mother. She is 87 yrs old and had a severe stroke in January. As part of her therapeutic healing, I had her pick the strip colors and stitch them as I looked on, chatting with her. Even tho she continues to have difficulty with speech, mobility and communication, she did an absolute beautiful job on her quilt, that is now her “Pride and Joy” and on her bed, which gives her such comfort and assurance♥️

  23. I haven’t finished finished many quilts yet. My favorite quilt top I have completed is actually the summer camp block Wednesday Wednesday from last year. It was my 1st quilt a long that I stayed on time with. Enjoy your show and all the fun quilt patterns you share. Thank you and congratulations on 100,000!!

  24. My favourite quilt is my first quilt made 25 years ago! It was a bunny quilt by Pat Bono. I made it for my first born but used it for my other two children too. It is tucked away now but when I see it, it brings back so many wonderful memories of my kid’s younger years. It is the quilt that was most used and loved of all the quilts I’ve made. And it started my love for quilting. Congratulations on making 100,000 subscribers!

  25. My favorite quilt is my 1st one. I pieced it using drapery & upholstery samples being discarded at my job. I removed the paper edges, washed & dried them before arranging the squares & rectangles on my floor. I used monks cloth yardage for the backing that I inherited from my mother. I believe I used polyfil for batting. I began hand quilting using a large oval embroidery frame & quilting about 1” apart within each shape of each square or rectangular block. I had to set it aside in order to get a job to help provide for my family & eventually I asked my mother-in-love to finish quilting it for me. To this day, both my sons remember it coming back from their Nannie & claim that she made it all by herself. Lol I have told them the whole story but each insist that they should be the one to inherit “Nannie’s Quilt.”

  26. My favorite quilt is Ricky Timms kaleidoscope wall hinging. It looks awesome living front and center of our TV room.
The amazing and most interesting part was you didn’t know what it looked like until finished. I loved mine.

  27. My favorite quilt I made was the very first one. I used characters out of a child’s coloring book as templates and appliquéd the characters on blocks . I didn’t have a pattern and probably did everything wrong but it got me started. I gave the quilt to my sister in law for her first child.

  28. My very favorite quilt that I have made is one that my mother embroidered blocks of Sue bonnet. It was given to my granddaughter and now my great granddaughter has it. It was so pretty and so special because my mom made the blocks, I put it all together with sashing and borders, then I sent it back to her and she hand quilted it, then sent it back to me for binding. It’s all done in pinks and blues and it’s so sweet and special because of the four generation that have loved it. I lived in California and she lived in Arizona so we shipped it back to each other.
Thank you so much for making my day wonderful with your morning videos.

  29. Hi Pat. My favorite quilt, so far, was a horse panel I did for my SIL. I did similar to Delectable Mountains border around. Loved it, and she did too! Thank you for the giveaways and daily videos.

  30. My favorite quilt I’ve done is “Grandma’s Kitchen”. It was done in the pastel Anne of Green Gables fabrics and I used a striped border that I mitered to match in the corners. The process of making each block also made me remember the days I had with Gramma. She is where my love of sewing and quilting came from.

  31. My favorite quilt to make was my “Paradise in Bloom”. Not because it was an easy quilt, but because of the end result. I have made lots of quilts that were more fun to make. This was more about the feeling of accomplishment at the end. It was a long slog. I did enjoy (as always) working with colors as I went thru it choosing fabrics as I went. I smile every time I see this quilt.

  32. hi pat i write for mexico city i usually made bed proyect i love one with kingwell pattern the best for you and your creativity

  33. favorite quilt is a applique monkey quilt I made for my great-grandson 5 years ago. It was his nap quilt at my house. When the quilt came out, he found a space and down he went.

  34. My favourite quilt is always the current one I’m working on. All my quilts are my favourites. I can’t think of one I like more than another. Most are gifted, and I also keep many, too many. My very first quilt was also a log cabin 32 years ago. Loved making it, and did not make another quilt for quite a few years. The quilting bug did not get me then, until a few years later, and that was it, I was hooked. I haven’t looked back since.

  35. My favorite quilt was one I made while in isolation (Covid) it was a Wednesday one of yours, probably the picnic one but the name escapes me. My sister and I both made one, snowballing pieces that represented our favorite things.
    Congratulations on 100k.

  36. My favorite quilt to make (not keep necessarily) was the crumb quilt I made during the pandemic. I only used fabric from around the house so I used every thread! It was so entertaining and forgiving. It got me back into the world of quilting.

  37. I just love your Fireworks quilt and oh my goodness some of the other members quilts are so beautiful!
My favorite quilt that I have done is a Christmas Rag Quilt that our local shop was having a class for.
    Everybody have a Great Week!!

  38. My favorite quilt I have made was my very first quilt – a log cabin with pink, gray, and white flannel prints for my new granddaughter! When the pandemic shut our world down in 2020, my neighbor taught me how to make this quilt and introduced me to your videos!

  39. Good morning Pat! I’m so excited for you!! Needless to say a possibly to win your beautiful quilt. My favorite quilt was the one I made for my grandson Sam. It has a panel in the middle with guitars. I bordered it with black fabric with music notes and another border with flames.(He’s 16):). He loved it. 😊

  40. My favorite quilt I’ve ever made was the 1st bed sized quilt that I made. I collected fabrics on an Alaska trip, including a panel by Barbara Lavalee that has dancing Eskimo children on it. I cut up the panel to use parts on the front and some on the back. I used a book that had all different blocks in it and just started making them…until I had enough. Then I made a flying geese border. Then I decided to use up leftovers for the back so I cut them into squares and pieced the back. It is a happy, joyful quilt that has many mistakes in it ( I didn’t know how to keep all those points!) but I love it.

  41. My favorite quilt is a mystery quilt that our guild did last year. I use peach, gray and green fabrics.

  42. My favorite quilt was was made 30 years ago. It is a dead tree that I saw on my way to work one morning at 6.30 am. The back ground is lots of 2 1/2 inch squares in oranges on the top and dark green, gray and black on the bottom. It hung in my kitchen for years, now it is in my sewing room. I see almost every day and still love it.

  43. I followed you on the APQ podcast and was thrilled when I found out you were on You Tube daily!
It’s hard to pick a favorite but one of them is my “High Strung+2” wall hanging. I combined elements from three of the designs in the Wicks and Large “’Tis the Season” book to create the top. Just as I was ready to quilt it to display for Christmas, both of the electronic sewing machines I used at the time went on the fritz! I wound up hand quilting it (“big stitch”) which is a rare thing for me. Then I serviced a Featherweight machine that up until then I had only used for display and got it up and running to sew together and sew on the binding (which I then finished by hand, also rare for me). I’ve been using that Featherweight machine ever since as my travel machine!

  44. First of all I am so happy for you to reach your goal!
My favorite quilt is a beautiful blue and yellow star log cabin by Eleanor Burns.
It was so easy to do and it turns out gorgeous !my daughters and Son in laws are constantly trying to put in their suitcases.
