The Random picker decided my Logcabin quilt should live with Joann S who said

"My favorite quilt is the first quilt I ever made! My daughter wanted to learn to quilt and she convinced me to take a couple of classes at our fabric store – I was only mildly enthusiastic about quilting – even though I had been a sewer for years. I decided to check out additional classes for us at my local quilt shop and there on the wall was this wonderful quilt with birds on branches. When I asked about it – they told me they were having a retreat the following weekend to make this quilt! I signed up -( my daughter couldn’t attend for family reasons). I made that quilt, which I adore ( it hangs in my sewing room!). Since making that quilt, I am completely hooked on quilting! I had heard people talk about quilting as an addiction, but didn’t understand it until then. This was the quilt that got me to become a quilter!"

Congratulations Joann! I've emailed you

Giveaway rules that I have to tell you about

  1. My favorite quilt is on my living room wall and I find comfort looking at it everyday. It started with uneven pieces of muslin with hand embroidered flowers that my mother had done in the late 1920’s when she was 8 and 9 years old. Her grandmother would bring home scrap pieces of fabric from the cotton mill where she worked. She helped my mother trace patterns that were in the newspaper. My mother embroidered the outlines and at sometime, she colored them in with crayons. As a child, I used to look at the pieces of fabric with flowers. In 1995, I got the blocks from Mama and asked her if I could do something with them. I took them to a quilt shop in Clemson, SC. for advice. I had sewn clothes before, but had never made a quilt. She showed me how to trim them all down to the smallest size block, then put green sashing and border around them. I also put another muslin border on it. I went back to the quilt shop every few weeks to see what my next step was. I used a stencil and quilted it by hand. My mother was really happy with it and enjoyed it for a few years. She lived her last years with us because of Alzheimer’s and passed away in 2000. It has been on our walls in two homes!

  2. My all time favourite top is the River House by Lynette Anderson. I chose to do it all with needle turn appliqué but it is still a flimsy because I can’t decide whether to machine or hand quilt it. My favourite finished quilt I made at a full day workshop at a local quilt shop. It was a queen size mystery quilt in navies and gold I made for my mum’s 70th birthday and she proudly has on her bed still. She is now nearly 83.

  3. My favorite quilt made recently was my portrait of Princess Diana as it was my first portrait out of fabric and it challenged me and made me a better quilter & artist.

  4. My favorite quilt is always the one I am currently working on because I am always learning something new. But of the quilts I have finished, I would say it is the English paper pieced quilt I made as my first attempt at quilting. I made it while taking care of my daughter who was going through a bone marrow transplant. It brought me comfort and beauty then as it still does today.

  5. Brand new to quilting since the beginning of 2023. My favorite of the three I have made so far is the first one, a sampler that I made in a beginning quilting class. I learned several different blocks and so much more about quilting while putting it together!

  6. My favorite quilt that I’ve made was for my niece to celebrate her high school graduation. It was made with huge string blocks that formed one giant X. I used a variety of mismatched fabrics to give it a bohemian feel and included a lot of her favorite color, blue. I loved how it turned out. And so did she!

  8. I used our daughter’s old jeans from toddler to adult to make a rag denim quilt. It has many hearts cut from the scraps sewn on the pockets. So many memories!
Thanks for the chance to win this log cabin quilt!!!

  9. My favorite finished quilt is Out of this World. I loved the fabrics and enjoyed the sewalong. It was gifted to my grandson.

  10. My favorite quilt is an outer space one for my youngest grandson a few years ago. He was fascinated with planets at the time and asked me if I would go to outer space with him when he grew up, of course I told him I would. Making that quilt for him was my way to commemorate that wonderful time in his young life!

  11. My favorite quilt I made is a Cathedral Window that is crib size. I started it back in 2000 and had the intention of making it to a queen size, but after 20 years it only got to the crib size, so I called it done! It is all hand sewn, the background is off white muslin, and the windows are 19th century reproduction fabrics. I have it hanging in my living room next to my chair, and I just love to look at it! Congrats on 100,000 Pat!

  12. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I have a funny golf quilt I made for my dad. It was from a panel of 6 or so golfing scenes that are funny. The blocks weren’t complete square so I purposely made them wonky angles and it was just so much fun to put together. When I see it, it makes me laugh.

  13. My favorite quilt is one I just recently finished. It used scraps from 2 Kathy Deggendorfer panels and her fabric, a Doug Lego pattern that was taught by Donna Jordon. It was quilted by Missouri Star. I’m calling it It takes a quilting Village. It is bright and cheerful and makes me so happy

  14. My favorite quilt was my first Mystery Quilt. I haven’t been quilting long and I was so thrilled when I finished it. I couldn’t believe I’d done that! It was the Morewood Mystery by Cheryl Brickey, I did it with a floral background and solids for the pieced part. I love it!!

  15. When single in my early 20’s I made an album quilt after losing my dad. It has a
favorite spot in my heart as it was actually a healing journey to create meaningful blocks
to represent important parts of my life and shed many tears to mourn my loss.

  16. My favorite quilt was one I made for my sister in law for her 60th birthday. Entirely made from scraps, mostly blues. It was very nostalgic for me. I “revisited” each strip and remembered the item (bags, pouches, Christmas stockings, pot holders, etc.) that I originally used the fabric in. My SIL has made quilts but never one for herself, so this was her first.

  17. My favorite quilt I made was for my daughter’s wedding quilt. She likes gray. Well yuck. But I found some fabric in gray and white with silver dots. And it just sparkles. my quilt guild even said it was there favorite.

  18. My favorite quilt to make was BQ quilt. My mom, a couple of sisters and I made a buch of crazy quilt blocks using scraps before my mom passed away. I made a BQ quilt for all us using those blocks. The last one was mine to work on at a quilt retreat and I forgot the pattern. I made mine from memory.

  19. My favorite quilt was my first one. I made it for the kindergarten teacher of the youngest of my four children. It was blocks with an appliquéd little hand in each block.

  20. My favorite quilt to make was the first Splendid Sampler quilt. I loved so many of the blocks and learned so much as we went along plus it was always so much fun to compare the blocks each time a new pattern came out to see what everyone else was doing.
My quilt won Best of Show when I entered it in our county fair the year I finished it and being I made it in fall colors, it goes on my bed at the end of summer and stay there until Christmas time. I have gotten so many compliments on it anytime anyone sees it. I love it!

  21. My favorite quilt is a wall hanging that my mom made before she passed… when my dad passed no one wanted and i probably would have fought for it…

  22. Hi Pat, my favorite Quilt was Star Dancer quilt pattern , I made it for our anniversary 45 years in June this year for my husband we both loved the finished quilt so much!

  23. Since I have only been quilting for a couple of years in my retirement, my favorite quilt so far is my Love Your Library quilt. I was a teacher and school librarian and making this quilt just brought back lots of lovely memories of the years I spent with books and children! Designing this quilt was also a learning curve for me, with the help of your videos and book, Holiday Hoopla! Thank you for a fun and rewarding quilting experience!!

  24. My favorite quilt is one of my firsts. My mom gave me a kit that she had found at an estate sale. The fabric were all neutrals or probably what is called low volume. After I pieced it she quilted it. It’s large lap quilt I love it and all the love she put in it.

  25. my favorite quilt is a Texas Star quilt I made with scraps from my Great-grandmother, grandmother, mom, and my own stash. All hand pieced and hand quilted to honor three great women in my life.

  26. My favorite quilt is a Star of Hope quilt I made for my Mom for Christmas. It was her last Christmas and I cherish the quilt and memories.

  27. So many favs…maybe the one on my bed….in deep asian blues and batik turtles…….. also one of my favs is Oh My Stars for charity quilts

  28. My favourite quilt is a Dr Who quilt I have recently made for my sons 50th birthday we have been Dr Who fans forever it was so much fun

  29. My favorite quilt is the one that my eleven year old grandson helped make. It was for him and he selected the black, white and blue fabric, decided on the design and helped sew it up. We backed it with Minky.

  30. My favourite quilt is My Home Quilt. I designed the 16 block quilt with machine pieced scrappy log cabins in the corners. The rest of the blocks are hand appliqued. There are six house blocks, a butterfly block, a bird block, a pets block, a floral wreath, a beehive block and the last is a block with children. I hand quilted it as well. To me it represents home for me.

  31. My favorite quilt ever made was the first one I made ever and it was for my first child. It was a very simple panel quilt but I was becoming a mom so it was very special 😊💙

  32. I finished my first “oh my stars” with the Reading Nook fabric. It has been my favorite so far! I gifted it to my niece for her dorm and she loves it. It is so much joy to see others appreciate your work

  33. My favorite quilt that I’ve made is a log cabin quilt I made for her daughter to give her at her wedding shower. It was my first log cabin and the fabric was so gorgeous. Beautiful shades of blue and cream with a red center square. Even though I procrastinated until 1 month before the shower to start it and had to quilt it myself because there was no time to take it somewhere, it came out beautiful!

  34. I think my favorite quilt that I have finished is a wonky star that I made for my local hospital birthing center. It was made with a modern paisley print in lavender, light blue and light green. It was a lot of fun to make, and teach to my local guild.
Thank you, Pat, for a chance to win your beautiful quilt!

  35. Hi Pat! Congratulations on 100,000 subscribers!! My favorite quilt is Marco Polo with Cottage Bleu fabric in the kit I found at my local quilt shop. It was quite the challenge because it was an eight piece pie pattern! You don’t notice the “pie blocks” because they form a lovely secondary pattern. Blues, greens, yellows, butterflies, hydrangeas oh my! I did add a piano key border to make it a little bigger.

  36. My most favorite quilt was a baby quilt completely hand embroidered in bright “pastels”. I used a small light green print for sashing & wide middle border. I used a white allover quilting fabric…2 narror outer borders, cornerstones & backing. Best I can remember the binding was a small multicolored print similar to the green. I made this quilt in 1983/84 for a very dear friend while I was a full-time college student. In 2020, I made a milestone quilt for my great-granddaughter born 7/2020. Been following Pat Sloan for several years on YouTube. And recently on pinterest & Instagram.

  37. My favorite quilt I made is a Grandmother’s Flower Garden. I stitched and quilted it all by hand. It was the only quilt I ever entered into our local agricultural fair and it won a red ribbon. It hung on my wall for years. It is now softly faded and I still love it.

  38. My favorite quilts were the five almost identical quilts I made for my grandgirls Christmas 2020. The only difference on each were two blocks made from the material that was used in their baby quilts so they could tell them apart. I also made quilts for my grandsons that Christmas BUT they were not my favorites.

  39. All quilts I make are my favorite at the time. Then they are given away or put up and I start another:) One that I will always remember is my Christmas Traditions by Eleanor Burns. I pieced it together watching her PBS show and taking notes. The book came out after mine was pieced.

  40. My favorite quilt is usually my most recent finish. Can’t wait to get my Tula butterfly quilt back from
quilter. Right now, my favorite finish is a Christmas in Europe mystery by Gudrun, quilted, binding on and hung up to
    Enjoy last Christmas.

  41. My favorite quilt is AllIetare. I learned so much. So many pieces! I did it in her recommended colors. It could be a one and done. But what an accomplishment.

  42. I made a super cute sailboat quilt with log cabin blocks. just love this quilt. this quilt was my very first, I made by myself. Love quilting!! Love watching your youtube channel.
    Hope your enjoying your summer!!

  43. My favorite quilt is the first one I made for my daughter. It didn’t turn out well but I wanted her to have my first quilt as my Mom gave me her first quilt that she made. Since my first quilt that I made in 2019, I have made close to 40 quilts and it just gives me so much happiness to make these quilts for my family and friends. It’s an everlasting hug from me!

  44. My favorite quilt was my first appliqué quilt that I made for my first grandson for his first birthday. The quilt was lost in a tornado but I have good memories! If I win the Log Cabin quilt, it will become my new favorite quilt!

  45. My batik Marakesh quilt is m favorite. It usually lives on the back of the living room sofa and is so colorful and cheerful.

  46. The last quilt I made was the fan quilt. I gifted it to someone who is very special to me. She loved it and promised to use and cuddle with it! That was very rewarding to hear.

  47. My fav “Yellow Dog quilt”. Was my first appliqué quilt given to the husband, now used in the RV!
