🧵I have a Book for one of YOU! And Make A Wish wrap up!

I have a HUGE thank you to everyone that sent me a note to tell me if you read these emails, watch my videos, and are in my quilting community. šŸ’• I really enjoyed hearing from you!  I FORGOT that we can't reply to the notice anymore as it's a new company and it works differently. To contact me you need to put in my email pat@patsloan.org

It is such an honor to make chairity quilts each year, and the Make a Wish project is so cool as it 'takes a village' to raise the funds that we all do. My quilt is made with help from my friend Bobbie who works with me on piecing it and my friend Karin who quilted it for Chairty. Both of them deserve a huge shout out šŸŽ‰for helping support Make a Wish!

The weather here is turning cooler, which is a bit unusual for northern Virginia.  I suspect we'll get 'another summer' sometime in September with a few more days of high temps. Although my plants are loving these cooler temps and I don't have to water all of them every day, bonus!

If you love to read, in my group for 'non quilting' things I talk about on Youtube, you can check out the reading post, loads of great reads!  Go to THIS POST

"Have you ever added patchwork to clothing?"

I did that back in the 70s but would love to do it again with Kanta sitching!

  1. Yes, I’ve added patchwork to clothing! My husband has me patch his clothes all the time. Also I’ve put patches on my grand daughters clothes to make them cuter!!

  2. I have never added patchwork to clothing but I have always wanted to try it so I would love to win the book. I think patchwork clothing is so cute and it seems to very popular again.

  3. What a beautiful book! I would love to read it as I’ve been interested in other cultures take on slow stitching. Thanks for all you do Pat.

  4. I took a class from Judy Mirrah in the 90s and made several patchwork jackets and vests from her patterns. They were awesome and I don’t wear them anymore but can’t bear the thought of getting rid of them–she was an inspiring lady!

  5. I definitely want to try adding patchwork to clothing. My daughter-in-law bought the cutest jeans at Goodwill. The jeans had red/black plaid patches sewn from the inside, peeking out through the stringy holes of the jeans. Adorbs!

  6. Your pears are really cute! And the wall hanging (or door decoration?) is going to be really great. It has been a while since I added patchwork to clothing for my children to cover holes and stains, but adding Kanta sitching would have been so much better. Thank you and Gregg for all you do for others.

  7. I remember adding patchwork to a denim bag made out of a pair of old jeans in the 70s. Now I love adding patchwork to other sorts of bags, zipper bags, rice bags, etc. I’m itching to make a quilted jacket but may start off with a patchwork scarf.

  8. I had never done quilted clothing but I did patched with reverse appliquƩ the jeans of my son.
Thank you for all your videos I do appreciate them very much

  9. Love your videos. Kantha sounds like a great book. I’m interested in trying more hand work. I made a quilted jacket a few years ago.

  10. I see your show every morning at my breakfast. I love the quilting ideas every day and learning new things Pat. I had done some small patchwork. There is always new opportunity to improve what we know and want to learn.
Thank you for all the ideas.

  11. I have added it as a patch to cover a hole, but have not recently. Thank you for the chance to win! Good luck everyone.

  12. I made a jacket by covering a sweatshirt with patchwork squares about 15 years ago. I have also patched unnumbered pairs of blue jeans, raising 3 boys on a dairy farm! šŸ˜†I love the look of Kantha. Thank you for the chance to get this book.

  13. I have not done patchwork on clothing for years. It would be fun to try it again. Thanks for the chance to win the book!

  14. I have added many patches to clothing. I would love to win this book for all the inspiration! Thanks Pat for all of your inspiration!

  15. I have never added patchwork to clothing. However, I am researching how to embellish the back of a Jean jacket. My plan is to buy a 2nd hand Jean jacket and experiment.

  16. Adding patchwork to a garment is a way to individualize it! Kantha seems like it would be an excellent addition also!

  17. Funny you should ask. I have purchased Jean jackets for my granddaughters and myself to patch up for Christmas gifts this year. Kantha stitching is one of my ideas.

  18. Funny you should ask! The jeans I wore yesterday are falling apart, so I used patchwork to mend them, but now the patchwork is also wearing out! I guess that pair is TOO well loved! LOL I’ve also used patchwork on loads of totes, my sewing machine cover, and stuff like that. I want to make a patchwork jacket! This Kantha book is gorgeous! Feel free to PICK ME! hahahaha Love you Pat!

  19. I love to add patchwork to clothing. Makes it look country style. I discovered Kantha quilting with a sew along with Allison Glass. Kantha stitching is so relaxing and fun to do. Would love the book to help me in future projects. Your Make A Wish quilt is beautiful. Thank you for doing this. My 14 yr. old niece had cancer and she got to make a wish. She wanted to go to Australia and see a live kangaroo. She got her wish.

  20. I have not added patchwork to clothing, but have been thinking about it as a way to personalize casual clothing.

  21. Hi – I have never added patchwork to clothing but have done some embroidery and of course, years ago did lots of dimensional painting when that was the thing to do. Both were enjoyable but now that I am into quilting, adding patchwork would be another adventure. Thanks so much again for all you do and the sweet way you share it.

  22. I laughed when I saw the question. I had just finished sewing on a button and a patch on a pair of my 89 year old uncles favorite jeans before picking my phone up and reading this. So yes, yes I have šŸ˜†

  23. I made a patchwork jacket at a class I took about a long time ago. I loved it. It was a very interesting class at my local quilt store.

  24. 50 + years ago did jeans of course and over the years patched many items! Keep wanting to do sashiko . Thinking I will use my Smokey the Bear panel with the National Parks sew along!

  25. Back in the 70’s I don’t think we had anything that didn’t have some sort of handwork done on it! Mine, my kids, and my niece, I added something, somewhere! My nieces friends were all jealous! I have a jeans jacket that I have been interested in doing some Kantha type work and this book would be perfect!! Thanks for the chance to own it! I tried to send this yesterday from my phone, but as soon as I wrote in the comments I lost this post button! Go figure!

  26. I would love to make a patchwork jacket. I’ve done patches over holes in pants. I also embroidered a tropical theme over holes in pants that acid got dropped on when I was in college chemistry class.

  27. Well, in the late 70s I tried to add patchwork to clothing. It wasn’t pretty. I do like patchwork clothing, though. A woman made a beautiful patchwork jacket in one of Bonnie Hunter’s Quiltville retreats. It was stunning. So, I can dream. Maybe someday I will make one.
Thanks for your ih si enjoyable video and all the information you share with us

  28. Yes, I have added patchwork to clothing…especially the kids’ items. I have never checked out Kantha but have been doing Sashiko for many years. I always enjoy forms of handwork.

  29. I also added patches of “cool” fabric to my clothes in the 70’s! Bell bottom jeans and hot pants–remember those? I’m thinking that Kantha sounds like a creative way to use my collection of special fabrics.
I watch you everyday, Pat, thanks for being a smiling, quilty friend.

  30. Yes I’ve added many patches back in the day to cover holes. Then I advanced to using ribbons or embroidery stitches.

  31. “Have you ever added patchwork to clothing?” Yes – but my patches were on little boys’ jeans and jackets about 50 years ago! Some filled bare spots, but most were just to celebrate the current fun thing in their lives – dinosaurs and trucks, as I recall!
