I have a wee teeny tiny little collection of holiday fabrics (insert eyes looking to the heavens…) So I got out the crate.. tub... um.. I mean little box of them … and used a piece of my Santa fabric for the window! I'm going to start looking for darling prints to add in!

We are on Block #4.. below is the download & link to my project page with ALL the blocks

TRUE CONFESSION.. this is 'Try #2' as 'Try #1'  didn't quite make it.. want to see?

When I made this block I didn't think about how using a different fabric at the bottom would create an entirely new look. It makes the house short. I put it on my design wall for awhile and it bugged me.

So I had a date with Jack, Jack the Ripper, and fixed it up! Don't you think it's better on the one above it?

  1. My kiddo just started Kindergarten this year and seeing all these houses makes me want to make a schoolhouse quilt as remembrance of this awesome time. I tend to make mostly lap/baby quilts for the new babies in the family, but I love making bed sized quilts.

  2. Small projects mostly baby quilts andand once a year a large quilts . Love bright colors and learning new things

  3. I have just finished five large quilts that have been in my UFO pile for awhile. What a wonderful feeling of accomplishment! So now I’m onto some small pieces I have been wanting to make as a reward and I’m promising myself that they won’t end up on that dreaded pile!

  4. I make mostly lap quilts with an occasional baby quilt thrown in. I’d love to win this. I have never won anything before.

  5. I am a fairly new quilter. One of my very first pieces was a bell pull that won first place at one of our local quilt shows. I was so proud of myself! I love to hand appliqué, but seem to also love the star patterns. I’m retired now so quilting has become my passion. I love your website and your patterns. Thank you.

  6. After finishing a big quilt this year, now concentrating on wall quilts. I love houses and appliqué. Why are the stores thinking fall, when I haven’t finished all of the spring, dress summer stuff!

  7. I do mostly lap quilts. I get bored with working on one pattern so the faster I can finish and move on to the next one is fine with me.

  8. What a great giveaway!
I tend to make lap quilts. They are warm and fun to snuggle under but I am still able to machine quilt them with my sewing machine!

  9. I have made little dresses for my daughter when she was little. I made little security blankets for the kids to carry around. I recently have made several larger quilts and a couple crib size blankets as gifts. I have also made diaper bags and burp cloths.

  10. As I was sewing yesterday, I was thinking about your challenge at the beginning of the year — to finish our UFO’s. I think I misunderstood you to say, “See how many new projects you can start without finishing this year.” So far, three quilt tops, one partial flag blanket, and 8 new squares on the Soltice challenge (!), and 25 completed squares to be attached together. Hmmm…. Is this wrong?

  11. I do mostly small projects and huge bed quilts. I love the satisfaction of seeing a king sized quilt completed, and the small projects keep me motivated.

  12. Right now, as I’m still learning, I’m making mostly small projects. Once my piecing skills get better, I hope to move on to full size quilts.

  13. So far it’s mainly been full to king sized quilts and I have done several of your patterns. I am currently working on my splendid sampler blocks as I have set a,finish date for all my blocks done by Nov 1st, grandson will be making his appearance around the 5th-6th of Nov , sashing and sewing it together to be done by Dec 31st. Start the new year off with a clean slate..

  14. I am new to quilting so I make throw pillows, table runners (although my first one was pretty disappointing). Mistakes are lessons learned. I am going to try a lap quilt next. I’m starting to think that these small projects may be more difficult than a big one.

  15. I think both of your houses look great, Pat!
I make all sizes of projects. Depends on the need, the timeline deadline, and my current whim as to the size of what I end up making. And then there are the projects that change midstream and get bigger or smaller! Ha!

  16. I make mostly lap quilts for gifts. I’ve found that most of my family and friends want something to cuddle with while watching TV or sitting in a chair reading. I like to do small items also, for that immediate inspiration jolt to get me going on the next project.

  17. I just recently found out about you Pat. I joined in on the
    Grandma’s Kitchen & I am loving it. I purchased 3 of your
books & they are truly wonderful.
I would love to win a give a way.
Thanks so much Pat for helping me find the love of
quilting again after my husband passed away suddenly.

  18. I make usually lap quilts or twin size quilts. My family is growing so more baby quilts are in the future!!

  19. So far, I have made smaller sized projects, but I would like to do a king size quilt for our bed. My husband has asked me to do something in blue and white, which surprised me, so this would be perfect for it!

  20. I’m a little of everything kind of gal. Who’s the gift for, what’s the gift for, or is it just for fun. Is it a class to learn better quilting. Or a class for a project. I enjoy your quilts Pat. Like how you jump on live and chat with us. We’re friends! Thank you for loving to quilt and sharing the love with us! Friends

  21. I love to make lap quilts to give as gifts. They are faster and easier to make and finish and I try different designs on each one.

  22. I’m just starting to learn to quilt. Almost finished my very first quilt…twin sized. I definitely know I’ll be making more, just smaller!

  23. oh my I love that blue. I have made lap quilts, bed size quilts as large as a queen on my domestic machine. I made 50 twin bed quilts over this past winter for a youth residential facility that helps teenage addicted youth to get back to a healthy lifestyle. I so enjoy quilting. Actually all sewing, it keeps me sane!!!
