I have a wee teeny tiny little collection of holiday fabrics (insert eyes looking to the heavens…) So I got out the crate.. tub... um.. I mean little box of them … and used a piece of my Santa fabric for the window! I'm going to start looking for darling prints to add in!

We are on Block #4.. below is the download & link to my project page with ALL the blocks

TRUE CONFESSION.. this is 'Try #2' as 'Try #1'  didn't quite make it.. want to see?

When I made this block I didn't think about how using a different fabric at the bottom would create an entirely new look. It makes the house short. I put it on my design wall for awhile and it bugged me.

So I had a date with Jack, Jack the Ripper, and fixed it up! Don't you think it's better on the one above it?

  1. I make mostly small and lap size quilts. I love the creative process and love the blues in your fabrics. Thanks, Pat!

  2. For some reason I have never decorated in blue. But after a remodel I found it is perfect for my new master bedroom. Thanks for the inspiration and fun in “grandma’s kitchen”. Such warm comfortable memories to enjoy as we sew.

  3. Waterford Blue — how beautiful– while stationed in Germany, I splurged on 1 little piece of Waterford- a small vase which would look beautiful with this blue!!

  4. Being a “Nonna”, I make a bunch of baby quilts, but also make lots of table runners, wall hangings, and full size quilts. Like to change out wall quilts and runners with the seasons. Have to use up fabric you know.

  5. Absolutely LOVE your blues!!! I make both baby quilts and bed quilts. I always seem to have some of both on the go 🙂

  6. I’m fairly new to quilting. I’ve made both lap and full size quilts and I’m working on a few wall hangings now. Just can’t get enough quilting! I bought fabric to make a queen size quilt for our bed…and then we bought a king size bed. Lol! More fabric shopping in my future.

  7. I’m into small projects with the quilt blocks and have made a couple of lap top and twin size bed quilts for my 7 yo granddaughter. Expect to be assembling some of the house blocks into a quilt in the future. Need some blue fabric for making same for my 3 yo grandson. My sewing machine is non-stop.

  8. I mostly do wall hanging size quilts. Not too big and not too small….just enough to learn the technique, learn the new blocks, or see how colors out of my norm come together.

  9. I make mostly bed quilts. I do make a lot of baby and lap size also. Not too many wall hangings. Thanks for sharing your bounty with a giveaway! Would love to win as blue is my favorite color!

  15. I have been quilting since 1984, and have made MANY quilts over the years. Lately I have switched gears and tend to make more quilted bags, totes, wallhangings for gifts. Thanks for all you do to promote quilting.

  16. I mostly finish small projects and have some quilts that are calling me to finish them. It will be a great winter as I work through my UFO pike.

  17. I make mostly lap quilts which are donated to the local VA hospital for the nursing home patients. I am self taught, and I truly enjoy sewing and quilting as my hobby. I have my own “room” and have acquired a few machines along the way. Just bought a new Embroidery machine as my two previous machines were quite out of date. Love your site and your sew alongs. Made my first “block of the month” type quilt with your summer solstice quilt. I love it and haven’t even made much of a dent in my scrap stash yet. working on two others. Thank you for all the assistance in my learning.

  18. Love your blocks and am saving for my next
project. I am new to quilting but have been sewing for years (lost count😬). You name it I’ve sewn it and have done all kinds of crafts. Including some scroll sawing. And found out I can use it to cut fabric (don’t think it will be for my quilt😝). I’m going to have to try that one day. 😉 I have just finished my first quilts a queen size and two baby car seat quilts. So very happy with the result of them. I am addicted very very addicted.
    Thanks for your wonderful site.

  19. I have been wanting to make a quilt for years. I do lots of other craft things. I just need to pluck up the courage to start, but there are so many lovely fabrics and patterns I just seem to spend all day looking at them all😊

  20. Currently I’m making smaller projects, mug rugs, wall hangings, pillows, etc. Soon ill be finishing an I Spy quilt for my granddaughter.

  21. I just did “Winter Solstice” and would love to start this next. Have another Granddaughter on the way.Thank you! Judy Hood

  22. Hi! I am loving all the blocks you are sharing with us! I seem to make a lot of baby quilts as that seems what is called for right now! I have several bed sized quilts in process, but haven’t finished them yet, as a lot of other sewing projects get in the way! I’ve also made quite a few rag quilts that I’ve given away as gifts. I still haven’t made anything for myself! I have too many other things I prefer to do!

  23. I make a variety of sizes. I quilt mostly for others and my focus is either fabric or to learn/improve a new skill. Beautiful fabrics and pattern. Good luck everyone!

  24. Whoa, what a great question. I like fast and easy, so small projects. But then a quilt pattern comes a long for a big quilt and away I go. Dresdens seem to be a thing with me! Pat, just to say “thanks” for your creative ideas. I’m new to you and I am having so much fun. Thanks a bunch
    Gwen

  25. Currently I make mostly small projects but am retiring soon and hopefully will get quilts made for all my kids and grandkids. Love your house blocks, to me the one with the green bottom had lots of shrubs, but you did what makes you happy, My number one rule for quilting!

  26. I’m a newbie and have made 3 queen size quilts so far. I am hooked and totally addicted! I’m working on my 4th queen size now and can’t wait to finish it so I can start another project. Of course you and your site have given me tons of ideas, help, encouragement and inspiration. Thanks Pat!!

  27. I do more small projects but am working my way up to doing lap quilts and bigger. Only started quilting in the last couple of years.

  28. I used to make large bed quilts…several king size for our bed. And have made lots for the grandkids and friends. Now that I’m older and not in such great shape I enjoy the smaller projects; wall hangings, table runners, baby quilts, etc., etc.~~~I still love to sew….was born with a needle in my hand and will leave this world with one in my hand too…I hope! I love your quilts and being a part of your site!!! Keep on keep’in on!
