Well this is a FUN day! Not one but TWO giveaways and the last block of Home Town Charms!

*** Sloan Zone Ambassador team *** their charity and fundraiser š
- Kendall – I helped fundraise to get a church bell tower completed after being missing for 100 years, we also got bells for the tower from a church in England that was lost to fire, for example)
- Laura – My hometown now, Bellefontaine (French for beautiful spring) is being revitalized. By a group of entrepreneurs called, Small Nation. Our town has become a standard for other towns who are now restoring their towns. Small Nation has basically gone through gutted each building/business and restored it back to its original beauty. Old dilapidated buildings have been saved. And Our town has the smallest street (McKinley St) in America and the first concrete street in America (court st) It was a test street.
- Suzanne – Like many quilters, I pitch in with my guilds ā community quiltsā. Over the years Iāve made tops and now quilt for the group. They supply quilts to our local childrens homes , womens shelter, local sheriff and fire departments emergency response teams. I also quilt for a group in neighboring Connecticut called Quilts that Care. They supply quilts to cancer patients in treatment and in hospice. For over 30 years I have been a āfriendā to my local library.
- Barbara – My favorite charity currently is The Normady Project. Itās a organization created to help women who have escaped human trafficking, where they can learn to live independently through mentoring, support and encouragement. In addition, on-site classes are offered in areas of trauma recovery, healthy boundaries, life skills, employment skills, parenting skills, culinary skills, exercise and more.
- Carrie G – Both my daughter and I are Girl Scouts. We support our local council and service units efforts which not only empower young woman, but teaches them the importance of community service. Even my son benefited from his sister being a Scout for 13 years as he modeled what she learned through the organization.
- Kathy – Many of the groups I belong to do a Charity project each year. Over the years I have made quilts for preemie beds, lap quilts for Hospice, quilts for the woman's shelter, hats, scarves, and washcloths for the homeless. I also volunteer my time with several local organizations.
- Brenda -Growing up my mom taught me that no matter how bad you think you have it thereās always someone else that is having an even harder time. Giving and helping others itās a good thing.
Alzheimerās research I made 36 Art quilts which were auctioned and proceeds went to research. Pretty Chemo caps with machine embroidery made and donated to local Cancer treatment center. I even donated my hair minimum 10ā more than once. For cancer wigs that are provided free to patients. Crochet the tiniest hats & booties for our NICU. And also for theMarch of dimes preemie project. Making tiny quilts & blankets. Just the size of a legal envelope! Helps those fragile babies look more like real babies and gives comfort to the families. Just some of my ways to give to others
- Dorris – The quilt group I am in donates quilts to Quilts of valor, Child Advocacy, and Family Promise (a group for homeless or near homeless families with children in our county). There are only 8 of us on a regular basis and we have made and donated over 50 quilts so far this year. I do the quilting on a large percentage of the quilts in addition to doing my own.

My favorite holiday memory was going to Grandma's for Christmas Eve dinner. She would make ornaments throughout the year and her tree would be filled with her handcrafts. At the end of the evening we could select a new ornament to take home and put in our own Christmas stash. Our family has grown and expanded over the years, and as people move further from home, and their return for the holidays is more sporadic, our traditions have changed. The best tradition for me is the return of many family members to the home we grew up in and in which my sister now lives. Family, fun, food, laughter, memories, they all come to visit and bring home the importance of those we love.
My favorite holiday treat is steamed carrot pudding. My grandmother and mother made it every year. I will be making several this year to share with family, as my mom just passed away and this is one small way of keeping her memory alive.
My German ancestry is talking to me about those cookies! They look delicious! Thanks for sharing the website. I’m ordering some when I’m done here!
Also, I love that book of lap quilts. I’m always looking for new ideas for lap quilts (and scrappy speaks to me). I belong to a group called Prayers and Squares. We make prayer quilts for anyone who needs love and prayers to help them through a difficult time. Thank you for that share!
My favorite holiday treat is the Mexican wedding cookie. I believe they are also known as snowballs and Russian tea cakes.
My favorite holiday tradition is having all the family here for breakfast at 9:00am, where
they exchange gifts with each other and I can give them mine all at once. Breakfast consist of fried potatoes, sausage gravy, biscuits, cooked apples or blackberries. Milk, coffee or hot cocoa.
My favorite holiday sweet is Mom’s thumbprint cookies. She would fill the thumbprint with red or green jelly. They were delicious and festive! <3

Our favorite holiday tradition is decorating the a Christmas tree followed by hot chocolate with peppermint candy cane to stir it! Even though all the kids have grown and flown I still do this tradition by myselfšš

Setting up the Christmas tree is my favorite. And I love Christmas cookies ! Also I make a poppy seed cake we usually enjoy for New Years.
My favorite holiday tradition is baking with my daughter, and now my granddaughter as well, beginning Thanksgiving weekend. We have done this since my daughter was about 5 years old. Our favorite cookie is the Biscochito, which is a traditional Christmas cookie in New Mexico. It’s a light and flaky cookie that gets its flavor from Anise seeds and the cinnamon/sugar topping.
I hate autocorrect. It should have said I enjoy riding around and seeing all the beautiful lights.

A favorite sweet – Oh that’s so hard. I love milk chocolate candy. I love apple pie and usually make a few for each holiday celebration. I also won’t generally turn down a good Spritz cookie. I wish they were easier to make!
My favorite holiday sweet treat is Italian Strufoli. They are little balls of fried dough soaked in orange scented honey. Labor intensive but a holiday tradition . Always made them with my daughter, great memories.

My favorite holiday tradition has changed over the years. When my children were little it was always so fun to go to the tree farm to pick and cut our perfect tree. After we had secured the tree, there was always hot cocoa and a visit with santa and two of his reindeer. I am looking forward to doing this with grand children one day.

I have always decorated for Christmas on Thanksgiving day, but now we have a larger home (three years ago) I decided to decorate each room in a different theme. I now begin decorating the beginning of November. The living room (Nut Cracker Theme) will wait until Thanksgiving. The other themes (most also have a tree of various sizes): guest room – Victorian; study – Americana; main bedroom – gnomes; bathroom – old fashion Santa; kitchen/dining Gingerbread; sewing/craft room – Sewing notions; workshop – Santa’s workshop/elves; laundry/half bath – Snowmen. We also decorate the outside of the house and a small tree on the front lawn. It makes this dark time of the year more bearable! Happy Thanksgiving!

Our favorite holiday tradition and sweet are the same thing. We make my Grandma Grace’s molded Santa cookies. He has a coconut beard, a sparkly red hat and a hand painted face with blue eyes and rosy red cheeks. I inherited her cookie mold, which is not made anymore.

My favorite holiday tradition is shopping with my daughter on Black Friday. Itās not about the ādealsā but itās about spending one on one time with my daughter. We take our time (no mad rush), go to lunch and just enjoy our time together.

I love No bake Oatmeal cookies. I remember my grandmother and mother making them. I love chocolate so that is a plus also they are super easy.

My favorite Holliday tradition as a kid, was as soon as we woke up, we got to have our Christmas stocking. I loved to dig in there and find my book of lifesaver candy. As an adult, was to watch my children open their presents and see the smiles on their faces. Now that they are adults and have their own places, I like to tease them and put in my order for the Holliday dish they are going to cook for me. Hahaha

Our favorite holiday tradition is celebrating the Winter Solstice. Every year we make cheese fondue, and eat by candlelight. I add some fresh pine boughs to the table as well. Itās so intimate to gather around the fondue pot, in the twinkling candlelight, as we celebrate the return of of the light.
Every year we have to have a batch of Peanut Brittle like my mother made. It was the best. I swear she could make any candy. Her fudge was the creamiest I’ve ever eaten but I just can’t seem to duplicate it.
My favorite Christmas treat are my extra yummy gingerbread men cookies! i usually decorate them with my grandgirls and we have a ball. Of course, they put so much frosting and sprinkles on them it is hard to tell they are gingerbread, ha ha

My favorite Christmas cookies to make was Golden Thumbprint cookies and of course fudge.
FHT. When my mom put the turkey in oven at six a.m. waking up with the smell of turkey and dressing aroma in the entire house. Helping my mom with peeling potatoes for our potatoes salad with mustard instead of mayonnaise because one of my brother does not like mayonnaise. While my mother is making Mexican rice because my youngest Brother loves rice with all his meals. He asked one day at young age. Whereās the rice? I start making tea. Still today family tradition is my responsibility and cutting a loaf of French bread adding butter. Remember our family gatherings with guest around our table then my mother would bring the large turkey on the table. Then my dad would get up lift the knife to cut the turkey serving everyone. I or another brother or sister would be taking pictures. My mom believed in taking pictures for all occasions. Today we look at those photos and enjoy memories with each other. Love continues today. my favorite Christmas tradition is going to Midnight Latin Mass with my family, and coming home and sitting in front of the tree for a bit before going to bed and having the grandkids wake us at 4 am! ha ha
My favorite sweet treat is pecan pie with whipped cream on top! My grandmother gave me the recipe she used and that’s the one I use!
My favorite holiday day tradition is after thanksgiving dinner, cards are given to me that are written on about what each person has been thankful for that year and I read the first one and someone guesses who wrote it and then the person who wrote the note tells us about what they said. Then itās the next guess.
Christmas Eve service at church which always ends with singing Silent Night by candle light is my favourite tradition. It never gets old.
