  1. My favorite event is watching my grandchildren open their gifts. They get so excited. I love watching your videos. You are a fountain of information. Thank you so much.

  2. My favorite Christmas tradition is baking cookies with my grandchildren. We bake several kinds of cookies but the decorated ones bring the most smiles and laughter. Last year we made “ugly sweater” cookies! The only one living close now is 19 but he’s still excited to make and decorate cookies with me. The other grandchildren have good memories of these big bake days but they can’t be a great as mine!

  3. Oh my… where to begin!! I would have to say that my all-time favorite decoration or tradition would be the baking. My mother started the tradition of making “trays” of goodies to deliver to neighbors, friends, the mailman, the milkman, the babysitter, just about everyone we knew. These trays came with a loaf of pumpkin bread (a family recipe handed down 4 generations now), Christmas cut out cookies (decorated by us children), ribbon candy, and nuts. Since I have had a family of my own, I have carried on this tradition. My sister-in-law comes over and we spend an entire weekend baking. We have tweaked the trays to include 6 different kinds of cookies, omitted the ribbon candy and nuts, added fudge, and in my mother’s awesome fashion, we take colored saran wrap to cover the tray and then put a big bow on it. We deliver them to every neighbor on our street and coworkers. They look forward to it every year!!

  4. My favorite Christmas decorations are my Mom’s Christmas Angle ornaments and tree topper, they all have fine feathers for there wings. Also putting up the ceramic Nativity set she made. The other thing my Mom use to do was make a candy ice skating rink with the houses, church and people, tree’s light poles, etc. Sitting around it.

  5. My favorite holiday decoration is the Christmas tree skirt I just made recently. I’m also working on a lone star wall hanging and stockings in the same fabric. Oh, and I also love the gift bags we use every year. I made them with glorious quilting cottons.

  6. My favorite decorations for Christmas are snowmen. I have collected over 100 of them and I put them out for Christmas and leave them up until it’s time to decorate for Valentine’s Day. I have all kinds of them, plush, ceramic, pillows, candy bowls, small ones, large ones and even very large ones in the front yard. Now I’m making counted cross stitch snowmen projects with the hope to someday have a small tree with all kinds of snowmen cross stitch ornaments. Anything to add more snowmen to my house. 🙂

  7. My favorite event is walking through the huge light display in our local park, and listening to carolers in the bandstand. It’s a tradition I mark every year with my granddaughter. I hope she still wants to do it many years from now when she is an adult.

  8. I live going out to the public lands and cutting down a Christmas tree with my family. Then we come back to decorate it and have hot chocolate to warm up. Thank you!

  9. My husband and I are away from family to celebrate the holidays, but my special event that brings so much joy is Thanksgiving, which in some years falls on our anniversary–so special, such a blessing to be thankful for my DH and our many years together–52! I know your birthday was right after TG this year, Pat, same as my late dad’s. Happy to see that you are recovering so nicely from your surgery! You are a true inspiration to so many of us, Pat. :o)

  10. My favorite time is putting up the outdoor lights on our house. I love to look out and see everyone’s decorations. I especially love the Nativity sets.

  11. My favorite Christmas decorations are any and Everything Red and Silver. Been that way every year for past 10 years or so. I’m looking forward to this Christmas as three of my 4 kiddos and their babies are coming here for Christmas. All the little kids making noise , been awhile so I’m Excited!! It’s all about RED AND SILVER AND WHITE and Grandkids makes for a perfect Christmas Woo Hoo. !!!

  12. My favorite Christmas decoration is the little 2 foot tall tree that stays up and decorated for Christmas year round. It has been up for at least 15 years in the same room! Every year, my mom buys a pair of new little ornaments for this tree with my name & my brother’s name on them. Does anyone else leave their tree up all year? Do you swap out the ornaments for different holidays? There used to be a hotel near me that had a large Christmas tree set up in the lobby that would change out the ornaments every holiday. I personally don’t think it would be Christmas in my house without being able to say that the tree has been up all year for 15 years & counting.

  13. My favorite Christmas decoration/decorations are all the wooden Santa’s that my mom painted. I put them out every year to remember her, Christmas was her favorite holiday.

  14. My favorite decoration is the Christmas tree! I love to watch the lights and look at all the decorations I have made and that my grandchildren and children have made for us!! It is magical and full of so many memories!

  15. My most favorite is putting up my trees , I also have a white tree and every year I do a new theme ( color, patriotic, Santa’s , etc ) . This year is just random ornaments that I’ve collected through the years. I put up a tree in almost every room 🤭.

  16. My favorite Christmas decoration is a “Seasons Greetings” crewel work picture with animals that I made in the late 70’s. It reminds me of patience, love, and my children – all grown now with their own families.

  17. At our house we have a staircase that is decorated with lights and garland and ornaments that are all handmade. There are needlepoint ornaments and cross stitch scenes hung as ornaments which I made, beaded stars and wreaths made by our kids and other soft ornaments as well. Each year it is a special time when the ornaments are chosen to be hung since we have more ornaments than space to hang them. This year my son helped with the lights and garland and I did the ornaments for the first time in a while since my daughter is away at college. It was very fun to remember when each ornament was made, especially the ones I made before the kids were born! My oldest is 31 now! So I have fond memories of the time before kids but also all the fun we had making the other ornaments too. Thanks for the fun give away Pat. You are very special yourself! K-

  18. My favorite holiday event is Christmas eve. Spending it with my husband, son and granddaughter. Starts with supper, then wrapping paper flying around- checking out all the new items we got, then dessert. Just a nice small gathering.

  19. My favorite decoration is the first gift from my son when he was 2 – his picture in a canning jar ring with a red ribbon. He’s 33 now, but that decoration goes right in the middle of the tree.

  20. Favorite Christmas decorations include a ceramic angel made by one daughter, a ceramic hand made by my son with a soccer ball on it and a Santa cookie plate made by my daughter. Being with family and friends is the best!

  21. I love driving around looking at Christmas lights and singing Christmas songs. MY favorite decoration is a nutcracker, that my grandson made for me when he was 11(I think) He is now 22😊

  22. My favorite event is our Altar Guild Christmas decorating party at Church. The Christmas Tree is decorated with ornaments that are Christian symbols made of beads that were made many years ago. An angel tops the tree.

  23. My favorite Christmas decoration is the little elf my uncle who had Down syndrome made. Mom made sure the elf was always the first decoration that went on the tree, he sat on a branch with his smiling face. It was such a precious ornament and memory. Their all gone now, mom and her brothers, the elf is still the first decoration on the tree.

  24. We are having our 5th annual gingerbread house contest. So much fun! Super competitive! 27 friends and family this year.

  25. My favorite event is any holiday community concert, whether it’s an elementary school program, a high school orchestra, a chamber choir or a well-known artist performing Christmas songs….I love it all!

  26. My favorite Christmas decoration is our Christmas tree, I love all the toy ornaments we have collected over the years. I now enjoy decorating the tree with my grandson.

  27. My favorite Christmas tradition is having the grand kids over, we bake cookies and they use a ton of icing and sprinkles and then they decorate the trees with whatever ornaments they want. They each have favorite things that they want to use each year. I love it so much

  28. My favorite Christmas event is making Christmas cookies with my children, then the grandchildren and now my great grandchildren. We chose a day in December each year to get together and make cookies and candy. The kitchen is always a mess after but we all have so much fun and make many precious memories.

  29. I have some very special Christmas ornaments, but my favorite decoration would have to be the lights… inside and out to brighten the short, darker wintery days of northern Maine, which I leave up through Jan. 😊

  30. A two story mini house adorns my living room table. It resembles a small dollhouse, but with four sides, a gaping front door and gaping windows. I have an assortment of items that I’ve collected over the years. A tiny stuffed Santa straddles the pitched roof over by the chimney. Miniature lights dangle from the roofline. Tealights set inside the house give it a flickering glow. Two antique glass jars filled with ancient hard candies hold sentry on either side of the doorway. A small, caroling boy figurine stands in the ‘snow-covered’ front yard. The Caroler is not alone. There are Pez snowmen, penguins, birds, a red wagon and trees. Thinking that the Caroler could use a mini quilt around his shoulders. Happy Christmas!

  31. My favorite decoration is our Christmas tree. I have many ornaments that bring back sweet memories. I love to get together with my kids and grandchildren and bake Christmas cookies. Last year we started a new tradition – we all get together and build/decorate gingerbread houses. Even the littles love decorating their own house! We just did this for the second year – so fun!

  32. My favorite Christmas is the one yet to come. We are busy decorating the house in a huge way. My daughter, husband and grandchildren live in our winter home along with myself and my husband. We are all so grateful to be in our home this holiday season. Our town was burned in a wildfire this year and our home in the woods was saved. Our tiny neighborhood still pretty and green. The smell of the winter air gave me the feeling that this will be the best Christmas. I will be busy soon making gifts and enjoying every minutes. Getting my quilting mojo back in place has been a journey and I will strive to carry on my beloved craft.

  33. I love my Christmas tree!! I will sit in the dark living room and just look at the lights. My last couple Christmases have been tough. I lost my mom in September 2019. Her birthday is December 25 – so there is always reflecting about her. I miss her so much.

  34. I live in an over 55 apartment building, my favorite event is getting together with my neighbors and decorating our community room for our Christmas party.

  35. My favorite decorations are tins of live poinsettias. Our church school sells them as a fundraiser each year. I love poinsettias, my Christmas China are poinsettias, so I can decorate with my favorite Christmas flower and support our school as well.

  36. Christmas is my favorite holiday. Our tree was up weekend after Thanksgiving, every year we buy a special ornament that representswhat occurred that year. I’m sorry you had all those mishaps with your tree this year!

  37. My favorite holiday decoration is a little elfin girl that my grandma made me over 50 years ago. She’s dressed in a purple gingham outfit! She graces my Christmas tree every year by being the first ornament hung! She’s also the grandma who got me interested in crocheting & quilting. I still have the quilt she made me over 50 years ago, with an elegant lady & her parasol in purple fabrics. It’s still in excellent condition for being 50 years old and only used for display (out of the sunlight).
What a great giveaway! Thank you for all you do!❤️❤️

  38. My favorite Christmas decoration is definitely my Christmas tree. Most of the ornaments are hand made and the others are from trips we have taken or from my grandchildren. I love Christmas!

  39. My favorite Christmas decoration is the Mickey Mouse caroler that my Dad gave to my family when they were quite young. We put that up every year at first it was a little annoying but after 25 years it has really grown on us and now we really look forward to it!

  40. My favourite holiday event is the annual family Christmas picnic I’ve been attending since birth. I turned 51 on 25th November and the picnic is held on the first Sunday in December every year, meaning I was only 11 days old the first time I went. My father is 1 of 10 children ( he is #7) and so each year there were always at least 40-50 relatives in attendance made up of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. It is referred to as the Mair Family Picnic and it is unwritten law, you do not organise any other event or commitment on that day. As I get older, it is even more important to me to attend as my father’s siblings are getting on in age, as are me and my cousins. It’s lovely to meet the new members of the family each year – 2nd and 3rd cousins – and I know I’ll be attending each year until I can no longer. It was held this past Sunday and was wonderful as last year, 2020, was the only year it has not been held due to the pandemic. My favourite decorations are the ones made from macaroni and other pastas my three adult children made in kindergarten. They are precious pieces to me and I keep them secure in a special box year to year.
Happy holidays to everyone and thank you for letting me share my favourite celebration and decorations. I feel like I’ve already won being able to remember these and reflect on the many years of happiness each has brought me.

  41. My favorite event is the light decorations that I see driving around.
This year our granddaughter and her husband put up our tree and decorated.

  42. My favorite Christmas decoration is a pottery Nativity scene. I purchased it when my children were young, nearly 35 years ago. It has a large open faced barn structure and all the characters and animals that are placed around & in it. When the children were young they used to love to set it up and often changed how they set it out numerous times throughout December. They never broke any of the pieces. Although they have all grown & left home, I still set it up each year and think of the joy they had in setting the scenes each year.

  43. Merry Christmas Pat. My favorite part of Christmas was when my children were small. I loved watching them peek around the corner at the Christmas tree with presents underneath.

  44. I love your idea of using the left over fabrics as an outside border. My favorite thing to do at Christmas is visit Brookfield Zoo (Chicago)for the Holiday Light display. My daughter’s birthday is in Dec. so we have done it many years and my granddaughter is 15 and we still go!

  45. My favorite holiday “event” is taking out my Santa collection for display. I have probably close to 100 Santas – figurines, ornaments, and other decorations. I put them all around my living room and dining room. My other favorite thing is Christmas Eve candlelight service at my church. It always makes me feel so peaceful and singing Silent Night at the end seems the perfect way to complete the season.
