My favorite place to stitch is in a campground, I always take a bit of hand stitching along. When my mom & dad came camping with us, mom and I would sit and sew small blocks together by hand, after hiking. Pieces were all cut ahead of time, we made like little kits for ourselves. I miss that time together. It was always a treat when other campers would come visit our site to see what we were doing. It surprises me how many quilters go camping and hiking!

  1. I stitch in the car when we are going someplace. When my daughter was still in high school, I would take my stuff and stitch at her volleyball games.

  2. I like to stitch at meetings, city council meetings or HOA meetings, since they meeting seem to go on for a very L O N G time. I can listen to the meeting and get something accomplished.

  3. Our house is small so our dinning room table is my sewing & stitching space. The table & chairs are the perfect height plus I can see everything spread out on the table since I tend to lose track of things! Thank you for hosting another great giveaway!

  4. I need light so I have to stitch in the parlor. I get my little table set up with my ‘stuff’ and I put on youtube to entertain me while I stitch. I am now starting a Christmas cross-stitch that we found while cleaning that is dated 1990. I love shopping in the cellar cabinets!

  5. I usually stitch in my living room with a small table, lamp with magnifier, scroll rods and holder. The only other place I’ve stitched is in the car while traveling.

  6. out of the ordinary….not so much….either in the living room, den, car or while attending conferences

  7. I like to stitch in my recliner with the TV on my favorite shows. Not out of the ordinary, but very relaxing.

  8. I like to take cross stitch with me on holiday. Easy projects to pack up, not too many components, and no BIG equipment necessary!

  9. I enjoy stitching while visiting my 93 year old Mom. She loves to watch me. She never had a hobby and is amazed at the things I make. I enjoy her interest and enthusiasm. I would also love to see some of your past cross stitch projects. Do you frame them? Make pillows?

  10. I haven’t stitched much in the last few years, but my favorite place to stitch is in my recliner with my lamp and table beside me with my scissors, floss and etc. within easy reach. I have made several beautiful things, but my favorite is a 11×14 picture of a carousel horse. My husband thinks it is beautiful too!

  11. I have stitched in hotel lobbies before in the evenings when my family wanted to go to bed early. I have also stitched while on a train in Scotland when we were going to the Island of Iona. The train was the first part of the trip. I got to stitch while on the Island of Iona too! I picked up some really cute cross-stitch kits, my favorite was one that is a wee highland coo! I am glad to see you are making progress on your Flea Market Flowers. I am making good progress on my Flea Market Basket project from Lori Holt as well. Thanks for your amazing videos. I look forward to them every day! You are such an encouragement to us all! K-

  12. I cross stitch anywhere there’s light and a place to sit. My favorite so far is stitching while on a cruise! I meet lots of new friends. Thank you for the generous give away.

  13. One place that I stitch is in the mountains. We have a creek not too far from our cabin and I like to stitch there. I take a lawn chair and set it up and it’s so peaceful. Sometimes I even stop sewing and just watch nature.

  14. In my secret garden — a little area outside surrounded by plants & trees with a little turkish coffee on a little bedouin tavelling table. Just love sitting out there now i’m back out of hosptital.

  15. I like to stitch in the library (nice and quiet!) or at the coffee shop! It’s nice to be with people again.

  16. I cross stitch wherever I can get the best light to see by. Sometimes it is just a chair in the living room next to an open window or a very bright lamp. Nothing really out of the ordinary but just peaceful so I can concentrate and hopefully count correctly!

  17. I have a bag setup with a cross stitch at each of my chairs and one in the car. So far, I have not finished anything since I just started this and have three patterns going at once!

  18. I like to take my cross stitch projects outside – swing on the deck under the tree or lake house screened porch. Light is so great outside and makes the colors pop!

  19. I have an Adirondack chair under my 60′ tall Douglas Fir tree in the front yard. I can sit there and stitch in the shade and even if it is pouring rain. The tree is so dense, nothing gets through.

  20. This isn’t really out of the ordinary, but I like to stitch on my front porch, or on the beach. It’s so peaceful, with the sound of the waves!

  21. I like to stitch in the car when going anywhere. Just riding makes me feel like I’m not accomplishing anything!

  22. I love to stitch on my deck in the back of our property while listening to our waterfall and my dogs near me. Not too out of the ordinary, but it’s one of my happy places.

  23. I like to stitch in my favorite chair while listening to podcasts. So relaxing, it truly is my happy place.

  24. On long car trips I used to do my stitching. I found it relaxing and kept me from falling asleep while my husband drove. I’ve been blessed with a steady tummy and it never bothered me. But my husband wasn’t so lucky. (One reason he always drove.) He would always complain that my stitching was going to make him car sick. ????

  25. My favorite place to stitch is in the office in our house while I watch you Pat! I love to quilt, but I get in a little cross stitch every day as I watch you, and then maybe some floss tubers if I don’t feel the need to get sewing!

  26. At campsites. It’s so relaxing sitting outside with coffee in the morning and Sweet Tea later in the day. You have no place you’re in a hurry to get too. You bond with nature strengthen your inner spirit and bring peace to your mind while sitting there just stitching away and thoroughly enjoying watching a piece of plain cloth turn into something awesome.

  27. I live in an over-55 apartment building. I like to stitch down in the community room so I catch up on gossip and enjoy a cup of coffee with my neighbors.

  28. It’s been quite some time since I’ve done cross stitch. Pat has shown some beautiful new patterns and I realize I’m missing it. It may be time to start doing cross stitch again! On summer weekends, we stay overnight on our boat and I like to get up early in the morning, pour a cup of coffee, and sit on the back deck with a small hand sewing project. A relaxing start to the day!

  29. We go to our church’s 10 day campmeeting every June. THAT is my favorite place to stitch. One cabin is set up with several sewing machines, and each day there are a couple of different sewing demos that we can watch and try for ourselves. We also have free sewing time, to work on anything we want. I love to get together with these ladies every year. And there are always new people to teach.

  30. Delores, would love to see your 4 Chinese characters with flowers. So very sorry about your broken leg. I hope that it healed completely for you.

  31. I usually stitch while watching tv; i have to keep busy at all times. I used to stitch and crochet in the car when my husband drove us on vacations. He is gone now but i remember the gold and black afghan i made on our last trip to a family reunion in pittsburgh!

  32. I love to stitch outside wen I can. Natural light is so much nicer then artificial. Any reason to be outside is great!

  33. In Brownies and Girl Scouts we did day hikes to Fish Canyon Falls; the falls cascaded into a lovely pool of water surrounded by large boulders — unsafe to swim in. We would explore and/or sit on the boulders feeling the cool mist from the falls. We ate our lunches while sitting on the boulders. It was a long hike one way. We would pass unused rustic cabins from a prior era — cozy setting that I always longed to be in — still do. Lots of trees, including pine trees. One hike it rained our entire hike out. We could walk to these Falls, or drive to the trailhead. Sometimes with my younger brothers we would hike part way from our house to the wash where we would find salamanders and horned toads. To this day I love these horned toads, lizards too.

  34. Hi Pat, Love your Hiking block.
My favorite place to cross stitch is up north at the trailer out side underneath my umbrella.
