I love these button club themes. There are multiple size buttons and then the hand crafted speciality ones. This year's club had the word buttons as well.

*** TIPS ***

Be sure to leave enough space between the rainbow hoops to cut them out. This is how I spaced them out on the Heat n Bond lite.

Another tip this time is to fuse and let the quilting hold down the applique.

I love this for small projects where you can do some heavier quilting over the applique.

  1. These rainbow love notes are absolutely adorable! I’ve been looking for small handmade gifts for my quilting friends, and these colorful mug rugs are perfect. The button details add such a charming touch! For anyone working on rainbow-themed projects, I found the Rainbow Six Calculator helpful for planning color arrangements. My favorite tips from this post:

    • Leaving space between appliqués
    • Using Heat n Bond lite
    • Letting the quilting secure the appliqué

Can’t wait to make these as surprise gifts!

  2. Like both, they are both “different” for me as far as pattern style. I have a layer cake and would like a larger quilt so Flourish gets my vote. Looking forward to doing this project and trying something new.

  3. I have been doing a Post Card exchange with someone on the other side of the Country (Canada) for over 3 years and always looking for small ideas. Only problem I can’t use buttons, lol !

  4. I tried the free motion quilting back in June and found it wasn’t my cup of tea. So, I have been trying the wave quilting you have been using and found this is working for me. I am ready to quilt a wall quilt and the wave will fit nicely every 5″. The batting says I need to quilt at least every 10″, so life is good. My concern is will just horizontal lines every 5″ inches hold up to long-tern hanging? I’d rather not do both horizontal and vertical lines, if just horizontal lines will do the job. Opinions, please.

  5. I’ve been away for six weeks caring for a grandson. I’m having sewing withdrawal. I have so many ufos to finish. Home next week. My printer is going to get a workout.

  6. It’s adorable! I need to make this tonight.
Thanks Pat for keeping me excited about “making”. My eyes are bigger than my stomach, but I love your idea of making something smaller. I’m in Texas and last week we were snowed in and I grabbed three WIPS and made something smaller with them. Two table runners and a huge pillow. I have another one I’m putting together for 2 pillow shams.
