My main studio space is where I work all the time. It has my projects in progress, machines, computer, and most of my fabric.
About 3pm I started pulling all the projects out of my studio space to resort them and put them into better size container and more effective & productive spots for my use. I did a video for you
For the post part I’m not doing fabric, just projects.
That includes all the different products I review or test. PLUS I had some UFOs in my main space that were not being worked on and taking up valuable work space. They needed to be moved.
Taking it out is EASY.
Deciding how to regroup and where in my studio should it now be, is more difficult. I started when I got up.

For our family business we work at home, so our whole small home has become our office.
We have no basement and no usable attic. So my business takes up 4 rooms in our home.
- My studio is my main work room and what you see all the time. It is the family room of our home, it’s what in the videos with my beautiful Koala Furniture and my Baby lock machines
- The shipping department has one room as his office.
- We have 1 other rooms for quilts, batting, notions, projects not being working on, other fabric, books, etc.
- AND the ‘over flow’ room right now is our dining room as it can’t all fit in the one room upstairs. The photo above is one wall in my dining room. On the wall is my village quilt (BUY the pattern here), and the blocks are from my Triangle book (HERE)
In my studio I keep JUST what I’m working on and my main fabric. On that video I talk about it being messy. It is ‘messy’ in that projects were not in optimum work places, split across areas, and things got put in spots that took up valuable space in my small room

My biggest problem is space also. One half of my bedroom is my sewing machine area (2 machines). I have shelves on the wall and a spool rack. Part of my closet though is very organized with my drafting table and several plastic 3 drawer bins for smaller things. All in all, it works for me.
I need more bins 🙂 I love the way you organized. Right now I have fabric in a dresser, but the drawers are ‘falling’ from the weight of the fabric in them.
I have trouble with too many very small scraps. I can use them for paper piecing or in making postcards. Too hard to throw away.
My biggest organizational problem is lack of space! I have filled until I can no longer organize, and it gets more and more difficult to even work in my space! I make-do when I could really use some quality storage pieces.
Not enough room, consequently things get scattered throughout the house.
My problem is I want to sew. But working time is limited, so I am waiting until retirement to really start in organizing. Hurry up December.

My problem is what to do with smaller pieces of fabric. I know I will use them someday, but what to do with them in the meantime. I only have one small room for my sewing. Yikes!
The next thing I would like to add to my sewing room/studio is a Koala cabinet. I would love to replace the drafting table I am currently using with a Koala table that could accommodate my sewing machine in a recessed spot just for it.
I just want to get organized, but it takes time. I am working on it slowly, but anxiously waiting until I retire in Dec. Then here I come with a vengenance, , .
I am hanging on to fabrics my mother bought…they aren’t to my liking, but too good to part with. They take up needed space.
I have my stuff scattered all over and when I’m looking for something specific, I waste too much time looking because I don’t know where it is… very frustrating.
Not enough storage space and my ADHD keeps me from staying focused on a project.
My biggest problem is that I do not have a designated room for all my sewing/quilting tools, material and books. I have various bins with projects in them. Tools go missing and I have no idea when or where I last used them. I also have a trailer and like to take a project with me to work on. I use a laundry basket to carry back and forth.
It has got to be space! Even though I may have more space than you….it fills up too quick and then organizing it to be useable easily is crazy!!
It is storage, of scraps and uncut fabrics. Arrange by color? Pattern? Size? Decisions decisions, lol.
My biggest organizational problem is that I am lazy. I much prefer to sew. So, that means I have to wade through my threads and fusibles, or whatever else I may need, for the project I have selected to complete. Frustrating at times, but apparently not enough to get me to organize it. LOL!
I have recently changed my sewing/quilting/wool projects room. I added more chests with drawers and organized my floss by color in plastic zip lock bags. The best thing I did was to write down each color number on a sheet so that I can instantly know if I have the needed color. I keep wool in large see through tubs by color. Again, so I can see what I need. Mu fabric is stored in glass door cabinets so that it too is visible. (well, most of it anyway) Other see through tubs are organized with fabric for each holiday and stored until needed.

My organization problem would be too many projects started and nothing done. I get so excited when I see a project I want to buy and start. Then I forget about the others that I have started. So I have ended up with a room filled with projects.
My biggest problem is having enough energy to finish when I start a day or a part of a day of sorting and organizing everything.
My biggest organizational problem is that I was not quilting when I set up my room and the storage. Now that I’m quilting, I need to organize differently and I cannot decide what is the best way to do that.
Finding the time to organize everything. I do many different types of projects and try to keep my overflow upstairs and work out of my downstairs room, and everything seems to pile up in my downstairs room as I work on several different projects at the same time!
keeping little scraps neat – would be nice to not have to iron everything AGAIN!
My biggest organizational problem is I have too many works in progress going at one time! Before I can get started, I have already found another bucket list project I want to do and then it has to have it’s own little space so I can see it. My Long Arm takes up most of my space, so finding creative storage for all the projects going at one time, plus space for the special fabric I want to look at and pet each day becomes a serious challenge! I just love your little baskets!
It’s difficult for me to organize properly since we live in a small house. I have my cutting area in the dining room, ironing board in our bedroom, fabric in 2 rooms and a small sewing room. I did get an 8 drawer unit to keep 8 projects organized at a time. That does seem to help a bit. Maybe I just have too many ideas swirling around in my head at a time.
I use it for smaller projects, like placemats or table runners, or pot holders, microwave bowls, etc.
I need to reorganize to add another design wall. Since we downsized, I have significantly smaller space. Maybe I should only work on one project at a time!
I have a comment about how to store rulers. A friend showed me some hooks that attach to the wall without holes. I put one up, hung a ruler on it and it held so I put another ruler on it, then a cutter. It is wonderful. I have a whole wall full of rulers and cutters. It looks beautiful and now I use them all the time because I put them up above my cutting table and can see exactly the one I need.
My biggest organizational problem is the scraps. I cannot figure out how to organize them. I tried doing it by shape, strips, squares, bigger pieces. They got put in boxes and put away and never looked at again. I have a new BIG box and need to do it again. Since I didn’t use the first batch I don’t want to do it that way again. I am thinking of buckets with colors to see if that would encourage me to use them better. That way they will be out in the open. Of course the buckets will be clear so I can see what is in each bucket. I will see if that works. I also have a problem with completing my project. When I am at the end of a project, I am thinking of what I want to do next, get excited and want to put away the first project to start the next one. I fight that all of the time. HAVE TO FINISH CURRECT PROJECT BEFORE STARTING A NEW ONE.
My biggest problem is getting started and sorting out my materials..

My storage problem is lack of space. I use a walk in closet but it if full now!!!
My biggest problem is not staying focused so that I can get a project done and then the supplies put away for future use. Too many UFOs and WIPs. I’ll get them done eventually 🙂
I am finally learning to let go of “too small” pieces of fabric and to keep an on-going “vortex” quilt handy for bigger scraps.
My biggest problem is I don’t finish a project before I start another one. I have lots of UFOs around. Then, because I don’t finish things, I am digging through my supplies for the next project, leaving a messy wake behind me. I am trying diligently to finish one at a time before I buy more projects! I need to be a better steward of my money!
I like lots of others have a small room for my sewing. Can’t get anything else in so I do declutter occasionally!
Organization of fabric is always the most challenging of any other problem
My biggest problem is how to store fabric so that it is easy to see, reach and use. I have sorted it by color or fabric type (reproduction, center, 30’s) and by size but it’s still too hard to handle. I’ve recently moved across country and gave away a bunch of fabric yardage and scraps, but now how to set it up in the new house where it can best be used. Help!
Not having enough room is my biggest problem. I use only one end of my family room.
Using 1 room for all my crafts (painting, crocheting, knitting, embroidery and now quilting and sewing… it’s hard to stay organized with all these different supply mediums. However, I do keep projects together like you do… try to help with the craziness. Lol
My biggest organization problem is I don’t. Have a lot of storage space. I need to put shelves or a shelving unit in my closet. The cutting table ends up being piled high with stuff I am not currently working on that should really go on a shelf!
I wish for a serger!
My biggest organization problem is what to do with all of my quilting rulers. I have them in a tote bag now but they are just a mess.

My biggest problem is once I go thru a rubber maid of fabric it all needs re-folded…or put back in order.
Storing the bits of fabric that are too big to throw away and too small to organize in fat quarter boxes.

I have several organization problems…..1. is time 2. which project to do next. 3. projects themselves. Unfortunately I start something and either get bored with it or something with urgency takes its place and then I don’t get back to it.
My biggest problem is that I keep buying more stuff and eventually need to put it all away. I spend more time organizing that I do actually quilting.
