Hi Pat! 2024 wasn’t a very good year for me health-wise, but my family was always there for me. They are the bright spot in my life…always! I had one quilt I really wanted to get done. Got all the fabric and started laying out the pieces for cutting, and that’s where it sits. I’m disappointed in myself. But I’m really looking forward to 2025 and I’m feeling so much better. So my plan is to finish that quilt, two UFOs (all three for other people) and a Christmas quilt for myself. I am also starting a Halloween cross stitch project that I can work on at night while I watch tv, and I have a Christmas stocking made of felt and embroidery I’d like to finish. Lol Wish me luck? I love this flower shop quilt so much and would love to make it too. I never win give aways but thought I’d give it a try. lol. I hope you and Greg have a wonderful 2025.
I saw this designer on a YT video present her lovely soft fabrics and patterns. She has a distinctive style! Thank you for the generous opportunity to win the kit. Happy New Year!
Happy New Years! 2024 has held it’s challenges, but also many many wonderful things. I would say that the best parts all involved spending time with my family, including a trip to London with my parents and one of my siblings. So much fun for this midwestern farm kid.
I have completed several projects. As a fairly new quilter ,I learn with every Project. On to 25 projects!
In 2024 my wonderful friend invited me to join an international group of quilty friends who meet on zoom once a week to sew and chat. Some are pattern designers, some run international swaps, many sell their finishes and destashes on Etsy. This group has been such a fun blessing for me this year.
I started quilting in 2024. I made 4 quilt tops. Nope quilted yet but plans are nade for getting long arm cwrtification in the summer and quilting all four. I had a gard time getting used to the 1/4 inch seam. I have been a seamstress all my life. Just went back to making sone clothing. Now, the 5/8 seams look huge! Lol
The best quilting thing that happened to
Me this year was I finished several projects from the Fat Quarter’s Sew Sampler boxes. I will continue working on doing those projects, and now 2025 will finish the rest !
I will not fib… 2024 came with challenges this year; however, I am thankful that my family and I were able to conquer those challenges and be better for it. It was nothing major just a great deal of little obstacles. I am excited to say that 2024 taught me to be patient and understanding with myself. It is absolutely OK to ask questions and to not allow yourself to be pushed around (metaphorically) by those that are your superiors.
I have learned new skills in my quilting adventure and have learned that it is OK to go slow. It is not a race to finish a project. Although, I want to finish a project The Butterfly Garden from Kendall by Spring time because it is a beautiful quilt and will look amazing hanging on my wall.
I got more things started than what I completed in 2025! I also taught my nephew Chris to quilt and he did 16 quilts to donate to Project Linus. I entered a Patriotic challenge and donated my quilt to a local veteran! It was a fantastic year and I look forward to the year to come!
The year started out sad as my nephew passed away quite unexpectedly. His daughter asked me to make a t-shirt quilt for her. I have never made one before but I said sure, no problem. It took awhile for the shirts to get here so I researched how to and found a great pattern to follow to make a beautiful quilt. I was quite confident I could do it. T-shirt box arrived, 15 shirts, great that was the number in the pattern, only the pattern called for 12″ square, some of the shirts she really wanted were 24″ long. Back to the drawing board. Figured out a pattern for it but I had some empty spots so I thought I would ask her mom for pictures. So I printed them out and put them on the quilt. I asked that she film her opening the box and the joy on her face was just unbelievable. That was the happiest moment in my life for the year that I could help her remember her dad and times spent with him.
I was able to finish a UFO quilt I had started hand quilting a few years ago. It was good to get it out of the hoop.
I have recently retired, and the wonderful thing is, now I can devote my time to what I want to do. Every project started in 2024 was completed with the only exception being a sew along still in progress. Looking forward to 2025 with a list of projects waiting for me! Thanks for all the inspiration I find here and Happy New Year to all!
So many great memories of 2024. The 3 that stand out the most to me. My daughter started quilting (reluctantly) about 3 years ago. She made me from start to finish a pixel Santa Claus quilt and gifted to me for Christmas. 2nd we rented a house in Florida for a family vacation. Kids, spouses and grandkids where all able to make it. 3rd my daughter and I attended our annual quilt retreat. This year my daughter in law attended as well.
The best of 2024 for me is that my health better than it has been for several months.
A huge Praise. Looking forward to 2025 to get back into quilting and fun projects, now that I have the energy to do it.
please enter me in the give a way
The best thing is to sew a quilt top. I make quilts to give a Veteran each year. Veterans love them. I made a quilt for my granddaughter to use as a fund raiser this year for her volleyball team. The quilt did very well for the team. I love all my grand children, they are such a blessing.
A continuing thankfulness that God has been with me health wise, giving me perseverance to deal with it, and that I’ve been blessed with spending time with great great nieces and nephews
2024 was the year I started quilting again! I moved to the UK a few years ago and didn’t have a sewing machine so I decided to start a hand sewing EPP quilt at the start of the year. Ended up buying a sewing machine as well and completed 3 quilts, 2 additional quilt tops and a few mini quilts and quilted projects. It got me right back into the rhythm of sewing all the things. Can’t wait for the new year and many new projects!
I finished my second Lone star quilt for my daughter’s 40th . I love the final result but it’s not my favourite pattern to make . Much better than the first one I did though !
My sweet granddaughter Ella was born on Valentine’s Day last year and she was definitely the best that happened. Thank you for all your inspiration
Oh man, 2024 has been such a difficult year, quite possibly the most difficult ever personally. One positive thing is that I have been fortunate enough to have been able to hang on to my quilty supplies so I can still have my creative outlet that I so desperately need to keep what little bit of sanity I have left going. With that, I was able to complete my “dream’ quilt top (to be quilted at a later time when I have the means and the room to take care of it properly). It was a project that took a lot of time, brain power, had its fair share of frustrations, but also was one of the most rewarding art forms I’ve ever put together, and for that I am very thankful.
Lots of blessings in 2024 such as my mom turning 96! Hoping 2025 is another wonderful year.
The best thing about 2024 was the gift of memories I received from two of my grandsons. Each month we went somewhere different and spent the day together capturing these moments on film to enjoy later. I was also able to complete several quilt projects to display and enjoy. I start me day by watching your videos Pat. You inspire me to create something every day. Thank You! Happy New Year!
One of the best things i did this year is join the local quilt guild and finished a few quilts i had on my bucket list
I’m looking forward to 2025 and to finish many of my projects stacks! Maybe I need more!!!
The best thing about 2024 was being able to give one of my quilts, Stars and Stripes by Thimble Blossoms, to my 91 year old uncle after he had a stroke. He was always cold in the hospital so I brought him two quilts. He chose this one and is so proud to use it. He is a veteran and loves it when people ask him about his quilt. His speech is somewhat slurred but if the nurse puts the quilt on with the flags upside down, he says very clearly, “Wrong way! Upside down!” He is improving and we hope to bring him home in the spring. My very best thing in 2024 is that my uncle is still with us, his personality and cognitive abilities are still intact and he is improving each day.
The best thing about 2024 was living close to my 3 daughters and their families! Life is good.
I made a new king size quilt in 2024 in pinks and greens. It’s been a good year of sewing and quilting.
The best thing about 2024 was spending time with my 2 daughters and their families in the Galápagos Islands!
On the quilting front, my friend and I completed more than a dozen quilt tops for Quilts of Valor.
One awesome memory for me is completing 3 memory quilts for friends – 2 for the girls (shirts from their dad who passed suddenly in late 2023) and the third was a large quilt made of two antique quilt tops that my friend had in her closet from her grandmother… one was disassembled and created a border around the other. They were so appreciative and I loved the challenge!
In 2024 I retired and upgraded my longarm machine for more fun in 2025.
Best of 2024 was spending a week with my son. He took his father and I on a trip to Canada. We hiked, fished and saw a lot of beautiful scenery.
The highlight of 2024 for me was to get well after so many health issues and trying to help my husband not be stressed out about it. Also in the midst if all those issues I could still sew, embroidery and quilt. Many of my Christmas gifts were either embroidered and quilted or just quilted. It brings me a lot if happiness to give some of me to others since I can’t physically jump and run around like I use to ha ha. I welcome 2025 and the fun things we have planned.
This year has been a good year for me. I am now retired and was able to sew almost as much as I wanted which has been awesome. I also have been able to spend time with my daughter, son-in-law and the grandkids. Seeing the world through their eyes is just fun and exciting. 2025 is going to be a good one too… bring it on!
Wonderful things that happened in 2024: we had a chance to spend time with our grandchildren from Northern Michigan – down here visiting in Texas! I saw progress with my sewing skills with quilting, bag making, and fabric sundries. And no one landed in the hospital for surgeries this year! YAY!
The most wonderful event for our family in 2024 was the engagement of our son, Allen to Shawn. We are very excited for them.
My 2024 quilting journey, I gained confidence and learned many new skills. I’m amazed to continue expanding my knowledge of sewing. I finished 3 quilted pillows, one table runner, I finally quilted the 2023 FQS Halloween wall hanging, I finished all 12 of the blocks for my All About Mom quilt, and sewed all of the blocks for a log cabin quilt for my daughter. In 2025 I hope to finish 2 of my WIPs, make a throw quilt for my husband and more table runners for my table.
I have a very full and fulfilling life. I want for nothing. My husband is the best, I have 2 wonderful boys, and 4 of the sweetest grandchildren. My hope is for the continued contentment for 2025. And, Pat, I value your guidance and passion for quilting. It has been a love of mine for about 50 years and hope for 50 more. Happy New Year!
I was able to complete and gift 4 quilts in November and December! All new to me patterns using fabric I had on hand. Happy New Year!
My best thing about 2024 was flying across the country to see my daughter in NY. Flew into Buffalo and went to spend the day at Niagara Falls.
I spent most of the year waiting for surgery that was going to leave me in a state of not being able to able to help myself for a while and had to depend on others. I will never forget how two friends especially, were there for my every need. I am so grateful to all that offered help but these 2 friends unselfishly devoted so much time to help me. I will never forget this and no words can express how grateful I am to have them in my life. I hope someday to be able to pay it forward. I am a nurse and I am sure I will have plenty of opportunity to fulfill this.
The most wonderful thing to happen for me was that after a work injury 4 yrs ago and 3 surgeries- I think my shoulder is finally fixed and I will be able to quilt again! I have been able to piece at different times throughout this journey but have not been able to use my new midarm with cutie frame to quilt – and it will be exciting to learn to do this. Thank you Pat, for the joy that you bring to my mornings. I saw in a video that you were curious why people don’t watch your Thursday episode until much later and for me – I like to “save” it for a Saturday or Sunday when there is nothing else going on and enjoy it with my coffee – spread you out a little 😊❤️.
Cristi
Our newest (and probably last) grandchild was born in July. She is definitely the highlight of 2024 for me.
I love sewing wiyj Pat I have learned so much this year watching the videos.
The best thing about 2024 was surviving it. Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and blessed 2025.
The overarching best thing that happened in 2024 was that I retired on October 1, which has allowed me time to spend with my six grandbabies, quilt, walk, join 2 quilt guilds and take even more yoga classes.
Something wonderful about 2024 is that my husband and I retired! Now I have more time to quilt and craft and do things that I love doing. It is a blessing so now our new adventures can begin!
In 2024, I attended six quilt shows. I love seeing what gems people make. They inspire me!
2024 a new family member arrived. A great nephew. As cute as a button of course. Spending time with my mom sewing and a quilt retreat. Happy new year and thank you for the inspiration and tips you give.
Pat, thank you for being there for all of us that watch and listen to you. Happy Healthy New Year.
