Hi the most thing I will remember is I got the memory bear done for a lady her dad had past away when she was 14 yrs old he work at fall city beer an a 12″” of snow blessed
As an empty nester and my only child moving over 2000 miles away I have struggled for a few years truly needing a hobby for my mental health during the winter months. About 2 weeks ago it hit me like it was truly a message from my grandmothers that I need to learn to quilt. So, at 53 years old here I go. I have watching countless videos, scrolled COUNTLESS social media groups etc etc. I started my first piecing project yesterday and I am 100% convinced it should be called PEACING instead of piecing. I have so so much to learn but I am very determined. Several times yesterday I thought of my grandmothers and how much knowledge they could have shared with me. I longed for them and to be crawling under their quilting frames as I did as a child. late last night I found this group and I am convinced it was also a Heaven sent. All of my pieces(peaces) are coming together and I look forward to following along in 2025 and many years to come. I will continue my nurses career because that fabric doesn’t buy it’s right? I will admit I wasn’t anticipating the expense involved with my new found hobby. Also, I WANT the book from this video. 😍 So shipping I shall go.
Wow, wonderful 2024. I guess living in WNC I have to say how I saw all the people in the area pull together to help each other after Hurricane Helene came through. Seeing everyone help warmed my soul.
I have been blessed in 2024. I join my local quilt guild after an absence of several years. My family continues to be a blessing.
Spending time with family and completing quilt projects.
2024 brought several wonderful events to my life. My youngest daughter graduated from high school and Cosmetology school and landed her dream job. Another daughter got married and is now expecting my 7th grandchild. And my second son and his wife had their first baby, a boy who is my 6th grandchild. 2014 delivered lots of wonderful memories for w.
One of the great things for me about 2024 was my daughter got a doctorate in education, and my oldest granddaughter, who has autism, showing me she made the President’s Lisf last semester as a senior in college, and at Christmas she asked me, “Grammy, can you teach me to quilt?” 😍 My retirement at end of September was the major highlight for me personally, though, life-changing!
My 2024 was an okay year but the highlight has to be my 19 year old daughter’s relationship with me got a lot better. I moved into the mother-in-law suite of my oldest son’s house and so I am now closer to all my children and grandchildren. Plus I was blessed with my sixth grandchild.
I am new to this site. Still trying to navigate all the links. Gonna try the Grandmother QA.
Looking forward to fun quilting times with my new buddy, Jasper the Friendly Cat! He’s such a love bug. I need to make him a quilt too!
Happy New Year, Quilting Friends at the Sloan Zone!
Sending best wishes from Maryland,
Karla
Wonderful to remember my son and his family moving down to my rural area instead of 90 minutes away. More time with my 5 and 3 yo grandkids!!!
The best part of any year for the past five years has been my granddaughter. This year I gave her a sewing machine for Christmas, she was so excited and is now asking to sew all the time ( the rule is I have to be with her). It is just the best.
I hit the jackpot in 2024. At our quilt show I won a LauraStar ironing system. I love it! And a 4 day retreat stay for 11 of my friends and I. We will be retreating in April 2025. And lastly, my last grandchild moved out of my house and I was able to reclaim a sewing room big enough for my sewing machine and my long arm. No more long arm in the living room and no more messy teenage girl stuff in the bathroom. Happy creating all.
I am thankful for so many things, especially heightened today when I am thinking of all affected by the California fires. Making a comment and entering a giveaway doesn’t seem right. But I am thankful that my mom turned 90 end of December and is doing amazingly well. She is still cross stitching and knitting (Norwegian knitting is her favorite). One of many blessings in 2024 (along with struggles that we are thankful that we were able to navigate through.
One of the best things about my 2024 is that both my daughter and granddaughter are interested in learning to quilt. I am so excited to start teaching them both.
In 2024, my husband and I welcomed 2 baby grandsons (now 6 grands) and adopted 2 kitties. Also, we celebrated our 39th anniversary! I finished 30 NICU donation quilts, 4 baby quilts, 3 full-sized quilts, and 1 quilt of valor. I enjoy quilting and watching your videos every day.
One of the best things that happened was my sister and two of my granddaughters went on a cruise. It was so much fun spending time with them as I don’t see them very much. Love your Gratitude and Grace fabric.
I am fully retired now! I have worked as a floral designer for 35 years and owned my own shop in a tiny town of less than 1000 people.I finally have time to enjoy quilting more! So when I saw this kit, it pulls at my heart strings. It looks a lot like my little shop. Maybe I have the ability to tackle this! I would really like too!
The best thing that happened in 2024 was getting a new job. I’m so much happier in my new workplace.
One of the best things about 2024 is I have been going to your blog and completing your quilt alongs. I have done4 so far.
I’m looking forward to an even more successful quilting year than last. Last year I completed about 30 quilts.
In 2024 we finally went on our trip to Western Australia. This has been on our bucket list for sometime, I live in Victoria so it is a long way. We travelled about 15,000 Kilometers, across the bottom and all the way up to the top and back down through Northern Territory. We saw a lot but also missed a lot, big fix on the caravan after we put a hole in the roof, limped home as the transmission went on the car so a slow and steady drive home. Everything we saw was awesome, lots of walking. The main walk we did was through the bungle bungles.
Hi Pat! Thank you for the daily videos! I have enjoyed watching your videos since the Covid outbreak! I was very surprised this Christmas, December 2024! I finally found…. while searching high and low for… the Quilter’s Cottage fabric from Lori Holt in a kit….on ETSY! I also found the boxed Quilt kit Baked with Love from Lori Holt! I hope to get time to work on these quilts this YEAR! Possibly a Quilt A Long will pop up in the near future! Have a WONDERFUL 2025!
2024 was a great quilting year because we made and gave away 137 throw quilts to cancer patients!!
My 2024 was quite remarkable as we moved from Northern Virginia to Missouri. We are from Missouri originally, so it was sort of a homecoming, but we decided to move, packed up, found a home in South St. Louis, and moved and unloaded from June 1 to September 1. Needless to say, we are not completely unpacked, and I havent sewn since I zipped my machine into its case in late June!, but it is back on the sewing table and Grandma’s Kitchen will be my first project!! Thanks, Pat, for the inspiration to sew after such a long break!
We had an awesome trip for Fall Break to Hot Springs and it was so much fun for us all! Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to win!!
2024 was a challenging year for me and my family, my husband lost his job of 26 years, so I decided to only work with fabrics I had on hand. I was able to finish a few tops that I will be working to finish them this year. Looking forward to a wonderful and blessed year.
A wonderful memory of 2024 was helping a new friend learn to quilt. Although she had some struggles along the way, we all helped her figure things out. She was so proud of her finished quilt.
Not quilt related but in 2024 my husband and I took in a sweet 5 year old terrier dog as a foster, his owner was put into hospice care.
The best thing in quilting for me in 2024 is that I finished a lot of kits that I’ve had for a long time. Looking forward to doing that some more in 2025.
I got into a better routine so I could get more quilting done and it worked out very well. I am working on the London Town QAL and I’m having so much fun doing it.
2024 had good things happening and say ones too. My 94 year mom passed away but it was really a blessing (was getting very confused). We all stayed healthy and we took a couple of vacations with our grand kids and kids. Made a lot of good memories throughout the year. Our 18 year old granddaughter (home schooled) got accepted at the college of her choice and received a scholarship for her hard work. Worked on many quilts throughout the year, some finished and some still in process.
I finally got a dedicated sewing space set up. No excuses now!
Happy New Year. 2024 was a good year We all stayed healthy, my husband’s job situation is more secure, and my Son & DIL had our 4th grandchild. I also feel like I am continuing to learn valuable tip/tricks / lessons in my quilting. Thank you for all you share about quilting. I look forward to fun quilty things in 2025.
It is wonderful that I live close to all my grandchildren and see all of them often!
My husband and I traveled to Sarasoda, FL to see our granddaughter get married. We live in NW AR so it was an early morning tp get our flight to FL via Charlotte, NC.
Thanks for your daily cheerfulness. I have family to be thankful last year and always.
The time I spent with my 2 1/2-year-old grandson was wonderful in 2024. He is such a joy and is so smart and empathetic. He can tell if someone is sad or worried or hurt, and he shows genuine concern. I am amazed by him! He already has a healthy love for Grandma’s quilts and owns several already including Happy Everything which is too big for him right now. I started the heart block on the day I found out my son and daughter-in-law were expecting. I gave it to him on his first birthday for his future big-boy bed.
I didn’t get everything I started finished but I did send a quilt I had pieced to the long-armer for the first time, that was exciting to me as it was made for my daughter and she was coming home from university in New Zealand(we live in the UK)so got that finished with binding in time for her arrival home.
In 2024 I bought way too much fabric, in 2025 I plan to use it all up. Wish me luck on that. Also in 2024. I really enjoyed watching all your videos and learning some of the ways that you do. Things are a little bit different than the way I do them. I’ve adopted lots of your ways for doing things over the years. Thank you for all your videos Pat
Something wonderful did happen to me in 2024. My USMC retired husband has Primary Progressive Aphasia and PTSD associated with his time in Vietnam war, and doesn’t know me very much at all. But just before Christmas he was walking down the hall with his arms out for a hug and said “come here, I love you very much”. I saw the recognition in his eyes that I haven’t seen for a long time. It was wonderful. We hugged and kissed and that was my Christmas gift.
Something memorable for me was seeing my twin granddaughters go to high school. It just doesn’t seem possible.
Happy New Year! 2024 was spectacular for me because I was able from my home in Texas to put together a family reunion in my home town in Indiana with my father’s side of the family. We hadn’t gotten all together since the late 80’s. I connected with cousins I hadn’t seen in over 30 years! What a wonderful blessing it was and a little hectic. But I made a family quilt with everyone’s picture to include our ancestors and gave it as a door prize. Thank you for all your inspiration.
In 2024 I got married to an amazing man. So excited for our future.
2024 was a big move for us. We retired and moved from Washington to Texas. I’m have met some new quilt friends in Texas and have settled right in!
I’ve been trying to limit my projects but Pat I couldn’t resist 2 of your New sew along projects
One of the wonderful things about 2024 for me was taking a trip to MN and then going on up to the north shore! I had read several books about that area and was thrilled to finally get to see it for myself!
I met my 2024 goal to finish at least one WIP or UFO each month, actually finished 19 projects of all sizes and completed 12 more tops.
The best thing of 2024 was getting my Joanna Figaroa Halloween quilt done and meeting my own charity donation sewing goal mark for my guild. I have already started on the 2025 projects.
In 2024 I was able to travel to England to visit my daughter and a special quilting friend . I made a few quilted gifts and was able to deliver them personally !
