** Hometown Charms! Block #8**
Good neighbors are the best! The pineapple is a sign of friendship, so I had to add this chunky little fella!
You only need one, but I made 3 to play with fabric options

- Carrie F – Going to elementary school during the 50s we came home for lunch everyday. Depending on our Moms' schedules we took turns going to our next-door neighbor's house. Lucky for my brother and me…our next-door neighbors were Chinese! YUM!
- Kathy – it takes a village " – if you got hurt while out and about, you just knocked on the nearest door and that mom "fixed' you up.
- Suzanne – Knowing your neighbors. Knowing you could count on your neighbors and they on you if, school was dismissed early for weather someone could be called to watch your kids get off the bus and home safely. During and after a storm with no power, those with generators would offer necessities like water, etc. Casseroles were always given to those needing comfort, homes were watched and mail collected when someone was out of town. Looking for lost pets. Just being good neighbors
- Laura – My neighbor story is about my husband 🙂 Everyone knew everyone and everything. If my hubby was being a ornery/sneaky/mischievous boy,. Someone told his mom on him, she worked at the bank. If hubby missed church, his teacher that went to the same church would ask him on Monday why he missed. He didn't get away with much. ..lol…
- Lyleen -Growing up our neighborhood was our playground. We were always at someone's home playing. For Halloween some of the moms made special treats for us that other kids did not get. It was a great life!

I have a most wonderful neighbor, they watch out for me especially like when the hurricane comes. They make sure I have everything I need. Love to sit on their front porch on nice days and just relax sitting in the antique rockers. We are front porch buddies! A couple years back I went to visit my son for 4 days. When I came back they had painted my house and put new shutters on it. They are so special neighbors, I have also made them a coupe quilts made from Civil War Era reproductions. So thankful for my wonderful neighbors!

There is space between us & our neighbors as we live in a rural area so we don’t have morning coffee together but in bad weather, illness, celebrations we are together. When I was going through chemo the casseroles & soups came from the neighbors to my husband’s delight. There’s been a change of some neighbors but the newbies have fit right in. The younger guys will often text or call my husband to ask if he has a tool they need & can they borrow it.
