Jan 1, 2017… the first page of our new year is so FULL of possibilities! My personal tradition is to be SURE I do a few minutes of ALL the things I want to do MORE of this year. For me that is…
- Sew sew sew!!! did I mention sew?
- Take a walk, I want to walk more
- Take a few minutes to be relaxed, maybe read, look at a book, or just listen to some music. Take some time to let my mine think. I tend to be a go-go-go person and have to force myself to slow down.
The Quilt behind my Question is my new ‘Pinwheel Park’ Layer cake pattern + one fabric pattern, hope you make one!

Now for the fun!!!
What will you do today to kick off 2017?
Answer in the comments below by Jan 4 at 6pm EST and you could win this prize

I’m going to quilt more of my quilt tops. I’m going to cut projects for each machine I have. These will include nursing home quilts, baby quilts, pet quilts and some for family. I’m going to cut a simple quilt to send to my sewing granddaughter to put together. I am thinking of rejoining the church lady quilting bunch every other Thursday. Today I will be watching our Seahawks, doing the Sunday crossword puzzles and laundry. Maybe I’ll get some cross-stitching during breaks. No sewing today for me but plan on getting in my sewing room for at least 2 hours every day.

I have stuff all over the place in there, including a brand new sewing machine that I have never turned on! I vow to work on it today and every day until I can finally move my tables and find my fabric!

I plan to finish my Splendid sampler quilt + the new 12in blocks by Pat Sloan, and catch up on a few UFQ…..
I am putting my projects for the year into kits so that when I get to them, everything is together. I already have the 12 pair of socks to knit in kit form. Now I am working on the quilts, then the sewing, then the embroidery packages. I think it will be a big help to not have to go hunting when I want to finish a project.
I start each year with a new hobby, (that’s how I started quilting) last year it was crochet. Today, I started learning Crewelwork, a wool embroidery on linen. I’m finding it much easier than expected, as the wool thread s very forgiving. I’ve managed to learn long and short soft shading (which was the technique that scared me)so quickly because of the wool. I’d tried it with cotton thread and never been happy with the results, so I’m delighted to be able to do it at last. I see a new obsession in the making.
My plans include going yo VA hospice with a couple quilts. Walk with my dog, spend time with my sister. Quilt, quilt quilt. Mainly UFO’s. And relax if there is time. Happy New Year
