Jan 1, 2017… the first page of our new year is so FULL of possibilities! My personal tradition is to be SURE I do a few minutes of ALL the things I want to do MORE of this year. For me that is…

  • Sew sew sew!!! did I mention sew?
  • Take a walk, I want to walk more
  • Take a few minutes to be relaxed, maybe read, look at a book, or just listen to some music. Take some time to let my mine think. I tend to be a go-go-go person and have to force myself to slow down.

The Quilt behind my Question is my new ‘Pinwheel Park’ Layer cake pattern + one fabric pattern, hope you make one!

  1. Actually I started not one but two quilts. A big challenge hand sewn hexie quilt queen size using Liberty of London fabrics another quilt for a dear friend who is battling cancer.

  2. I started my day with a little bit of tidying up. Then I got comfy in my big chair with my finished Christmas quilt made from a free Moda pattern. “Flying Arrows” and proceeded to embroider a quilt block for my nieces Beeutiful quilt. Then I prepared spoons for some mixed media altering and throughout the day layered them with gesso and acrylic paint. I enjoyed some fun games on my phone, some catching I with friends and a little more embroidery. Now I’m catching up with email and you Pat. It has been a wonderful day.

  3. I made my UFO list for large and small projects, leaving room to practice my quilting on the small project list. I pulled things together to start on project #6, a Jelly Roll Race quilt for my husband throwing in a few shirts from his Dad. Hope this is a fast race. My plan is to finish a large project and work in a small project each month. Thanks Pat and Happy New Year to all of you!

  4. I made my first 2 Solstice blocks today – now I just have to figure out how to upload them from my phone so I can show them off! I’m looking forward to lot’s of sewing this year and trying to do a better job at keeping up with projects.

  5. Spent today with my eldest daughters family had a beautiful supper. Now home and trying to make plans for the next couple of quilts. They are BOM. Got two in mind maybe three.

  6. Cut out a Christmas quilt for next year! Relaxing and enjoyable especially knowing I will probably get this one done in time for Christmas!

  7. Oh gee….the stuff that is filling my day might not sound like much fun–but it’s no big deal. Grocery shopping is done, I’m working on laundry and I need to pack up and store the reusable Christmas boxes and bags. Next chore is to break down all the accumulated shipping boxes for the recycle bin.
It’s all good. Dh is home for another day and working on a storage drive for me, and our oldest son dropped in for a visit earlier. I’m looking forward to our 9 month old granddaughter who will be here to spend the day tomorrow. Everything I do now frees up time for her!

  8. I kicked off 2017 spending the day with my youngest granddaughter. Can’t think of a better way to start the year!

  9. I’m starting the new year THANKFUL for family and friends, for my job, for my abundant stash, for the wonderful on-line community for encouragement and inspiration. Today is a planning day – looking at already-started projects and what needs to happen to progress them along and prioritising time-sensitive projects (i.e. baby quilts).

  10. To kick off the year I met friends for lunch, and am working on the quilting of a memory quilt. Trying to finish it up so I can get it off my quilting frame. Will make some poloraid blocks later.

  11. Getting organized and starting two new projects. I spent last night sorting and organizing my fabrics — yeah, again:) I’m setting up a projects notebook, hopefully it will keep me organized on lots of projects at the same time:)

  12. There are 365 days this year and I want to make a difference every day. Today was spent with good friends and family.

  13. Working on ufo for church member…young lady of about 10 with physical challenges…creating backing for her quilt so that I can taken it off my list of UFO’s.

  14. I’m going to finish my husband’s quilt! It’s my project left over from 2016 and I have procrastinated enough; want it completed so I can sink my teeth into several other projects I have in mind, like my clamshell quilt for my bed!

  15. Put away the Christmas decorations, clean out the recipes I keep printing because someday I will make all these foods(!), and hopefully finish the binding on a Christmas quilt (working towards my goal of every bed in the house having a Christmas quilt; 2 more to go!).

  16. Finish sewing a Christmas gift for a friend that I didn’t get to finish on time…she’s very understanding! It’s already 4:00 and I haven’t gotten to the sewing room but I’ll get there.

  17. Well, I have not done any sewing yet! But before this day is over I will make a pencil holder for my Bible and I hope to start a New Year’s project. I also rode my bike about 13 miles. Must get back on my exercise program…down 35 lbs in 2016 and hope to lose 20-25 more in 2017!

  18. I worked on finishing the quilt top for my local quilt shops 2016 BOM. I just finished put the last border on!!! That was my goal for today New Year’s Day. Now it goes in the to be quilted pile and I’m ready to start the 2017 BOM’s I’d like to make. I also hope to finish my hand embroidery squares (about 3) of my Splendid Block, then I’ll be all caught up.

  19. I’ve pieced, quilted and finished a Halloween wall hanging and now I’m cooking! All my favorite things. Had more on my list, but, happy, super happy with alittle finish to start the year off right.

  20. I am in the middle of reorganising my sewing room so I know what I have and where I can find it when needed.Lots of old UFO’s found and fabrics I forgot I had. Also making a list so I can get lots done this year.

  21. I had to work today but really don’t mind – bought a new sewing machine and got it yesterday so will figure out how to use it tonight!!

  22. Making time to sew for at least an hour each and every day with a list of quilts and projects to focus on. Completion will be a byproduct of concerted effort and progress.

  23. Church, spending most of the day with family, planning my reading and crafting plans for the new year, knowing this may all end up on its ear. Happy New year!

  24. I am working on a Mystery quilt I have started. I am hosting a club Christmas Party next year so I want to get hostess gifts done now and put back

  25. What did I do today? Sewed of course! You said that we need to do on the first of January what we want to do more of the rest of the year. Catching up on Splendid Sampler.

  26. I am following along with a New Year’s Day Mystery Quilt.. I just love a mystery and can not wait to see the reveal. I am always so impressed with the final layout, and with the results I obtain.

  27. Spent most of the day cleaning and sorting the sewing room. Still lots to do, I don’t know where all the stuff I know I have has disappeared to.

  28. I will make one catch up Splendid Sampler blocks and do some cutting and piecing for step 7 of Bonmie Hunter’s En Provence mystery quilt.

  29. Today I am finishing up my sewing room makeover and starting my 2017 “Quilters Planner” entry! I have all my projects organized in my closet, with the fabric and pattern together. And the UFO’s are in containers and marked I have to write that in my planner also. Most are finished blocks that have to be put together, maybe a border around. And and my two Solstice blocks now have a space of their own. I printed out the Creative Grids wish list so I could mark off which rulers I have as to not buy duplicates. So today is tweet your yearly plan and hopefully it will be a STORYbook 2017 year!

  30. My resolution is to sew more, so I decided to sew first: it’s worth getting up a half hour early. I just seem to get too busy later in the day. And when my alarm goes off, it heralds fun, not work!

  31. Took down Christmas decorations, finishing up Rooms of the Abbey quilt watching Downton Abbey while waiting for daughter to come home.

  32. Talked with my 92 year old aunt for a hour this morning – we may live a couple thousand miles apart, but you’d never know it when we call each other!! Then finished off a couple of scarves, got applique ready, and shoveled the new snow.
