Jan 1, 2017… the first page of our new year is so FULL of possibilities! My personal tradition is to be SURE I do a few minutes of ALL the things I want to do MORE of this year. For me that is…

  • Sew sew sew!!! did I mention sew?
  • Take a walk, I want to walk more
  • Take a few minutes to be relaxed, maybe read, look at a book, or just listen to some music. Take some time to let my mine think. I tend to be a go-go-go person and have to force myself to slow down.

The Quilt behind my Question is my new ‘Pinwheel Park’ Layer cake pattern + one fabric pattern, hope you make one!

  1. Lazy day with husband, watching football, taking a walk, and then some sew time reviewing patterns for 2017 prjects

  2. Went to church, then out to lunch with son and family…he is headed back to Baghad, Iraq ….we went to Ninjas for a wonderful Hacachi performance! There were nine of us at this good-bye lunch….bittersweet…will be August before we see him again……will start sewing tomorrow.

  3. Working on a baby quilt for a soon to arrive granddaughter, then looking through stash to keep up with the solstice challenge. Took a walk after church, cold and bright in our winter wonderland.

  4. My morning was spent at church. This afternoon I finished the blocks for my grandson’s birthday quilt. Now to lay it out to decide where the Block Party Studio ‘Readers are Leaders’ pieces are to be added.

  5. I am doing a fast catch up on winter solstice then having to work on school uniforms before finishing a japanese logcabin with embroidery centre in gold thread

  6. I slept in, played with my dog and ate healthy today. I will spend some time on computer games with my hubby. But I did spend the last two days getting my UFOs documented so starting tomorrow, I’m in the sewing room, sewing for me.

  7. I’m learning how to cut the freezer paper templates on my silhouette cameo. Then will be starting my new appliqued quilt.

  8. Day 1 : So far I cut out a Mystery quilt, cut out a quilt for a cousin. Now will read a little before watching some football! Good start to the new year!

  9. Spent my last day of break before I return to work tomorrow relaxing and planning projects for the new year. Wanting to finish the falling charms quilt I am working on…but got side tracked.

  10. I slept in today, and once up and awake, took down the Christmas tree and other decorations inside. My husband took down the ones outside. Afterwards, we picked up friends of ours and did some “after Christmas” shopping. Fun day. Now I’m just relaxing and reading my email after a nice bowl of vegetable soup.

  11. I am working on the binding of the first of my New Years challenges! I think I have at least two per month. Hope I keep on track! 🙂

  12. Started researching a new sewing machine! And I need to search for my walking foot so I can start quilting my WIP for my mother in law.

  13. I will be picking up in my sewing room after two days of sewing with my 8 & 10 year old granddaughters. This is the first time the 8 year old has done any sewing. I feel blessed that the girls are interested in sewing & in quilting in particular.

  14. I just started doing a full reorganization of my sewing area. And now I’m wondering ‘what the heck was I thinking!’

  15. My grandson asked me to make a quilt for his bed. He has moved from a twin bed to a queen bed. So, found a pattern and shopped for fabric for it today.

  16. Having a lazy day after church. Next up in sewing – replacing some worn out elastic in pants and sepatating zippers in a couple of sweatshirts. To be followed up by a small Christmas Nativity quilt I didn’t get to before the holiday and a table runner for my den coffee table.

  17. Went to church and then visited with my youngest daugter for hours. One of the best ways to spend a Sunday!

  18. Today, I went to church, because it’s Sunday. I started a new embroidery project for the year, to add at least one stitch to the canvas every day. I’m now going to go sew, to work on he corners of the smashing of a UFO where I’ve done all the squares, and to create the canvas for a small bit of textile art for the week.
Then I’ll take a nap, and listen to a podcast with my husband.

  19. I went and saw Rogue One, wrapped late Christmas gifts and tried to find a setting for the Yahoo New Year’s Eve quilt blocks that I made.

  20. Start off with going to church then wishing my dear sister a Happy Birthday then spend the rest of the day with husband…..Prayin for a better New Year …

  21. I started the 365 days declutter challenge so that has to be a good start for the new year. Here’shopping I can make it til day 2

  22. I have started the solstice quilt (my first ever quilt a long) in monochrome, a gift for my niece. The usual household things of course, and I have refreshed my project board, including setting my plans up for this years xmas gifts. However, actual sewing is not as successful. I have surgery scheduled in a few days, and I don’t think my brain will let me focus on sewing, until that is out of the way.

  23. Just starting a baby quilt using Jaybird Quilts August Stars pattern. What was I thinking? I’m not a very experienced quilter!

  24. After a wonderful morning at church, I am now relaxing and catching up on my emails. I plan to go sew in a little while. Happy New Year!!!

  25. I traveled home from a weekend at Myrtle Beach, SC with friends thinking about how to quilt the quilt I made for my grandson and lookin at this Soltice Challenge. I am home. I have my fabric picked to start the blocks.

  26. I’m currently working on a batman quilt for my great nephew who shares the same day Birthday. His brother will get a Dr. Seuss quilt with all the books that are in the quilt at the same time. THe batman quilt will get the super heroes comic books. I think a child getting a quilt should get a book or two to read while under the quilt. I have gifted a Dr. Seuss to an expected mother for her first born child (living in France) and she loved it. I have one more Dr. Seuss with all the books (ten in total) for my first grandchild (whenever it is borned). SO I am hoping to get at least 12 quilts made this year 2017. Wish me luck….

  27. I would like to complete the Be My Neighbor Quilt, as I have collected the pattern series. Enjoying some down time on the first day of the new year by watching an Amazon Prime movie! Hope to win the giveaway!!

  28. I decided this year that it is time to gift out a lot of what I’ve been making. So everyone is getting something whether they like it or not! Hahah. It is hard sometimes to know what people will like or use. I’m also going to donate a lot more to fund raiser around town. Then I’m going to to have one of my larger quilts quilted every three months. That should clear up everything this year.

  29. Today I am sorting all my ufo projects into their own little boxes so I can them pick one at random to finish it. It will have all the fabrics required to finish and the pattern along with the started top. I keep getting told off when I buy fabric because of the ufo’s so they need to be finished. Then a shoppin I can go.

  30. I am adding the borders to an old ufo and will have it ready for quilting. I’ve already picked out a new project and have the first block cut and ready to sew. I hope to slow down and enjoy the process this year.

  31. I cleaned my sewing area, purged some things to good will to make room for all the things I will need to quilt, and spent hours on the floor /sorting and planning the fabrics I’m going to use for a class I am starting at a quilt shop in the city…”Forest FRiends”, I am so excited as I am a newbie to quilting and have 16 grandchildren so far to catch up on making them all a quilt! I am also starting your Winter Solice blocks for the 1st time..Wish me luck on these please. And of course I spent time with my 2 little grandsons that stopped in to visit!! Right now I am looking online at prices on threads and fabric…whew!! I have waited years to learn how to machine quilt/embroider as we raised 10 sons and many foster children over the last 37 yrs…Retired this past summer, last 2 babies home in college…now its my time:) So many things I want to make that I get dizzy thinking about them!! Happy New Year to all!

  32. I am currently working on the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt, AND I’m knee-deep in making hexies. All of the neat quilting blogs really keep me hopping too.

  33. I went to church this morning, came home and had a few friends over for a New Year’s Day meal, had a little nap and now I’m catching up on emails and reading your blog! In just a bit, I’m going to go pull out some fabric possibilities for the next block of the 182 Day Solstice Challenge!

  34. I will continue to finish my 2016 projects I got caught behind the 8 ball on Christmas gifts and now have 3 to finish by the end of January.

  35. I sat down last night and wrote down all the projects I had almost finished and the ones I want to gift in the first part of the year. Overwhelmed looking down at my list. Woke up this morning with a plan. Now home from work and heading up to my workshop with a cup of tea. I plan on finishing one and then getting another new one from the list done. Nothing else new is to be added until I am caught up! I can get my life organized! Ok, so what fun will that be?

  36. Today I am doing more sewing. I currently am finishing up a casserole carrier for my daughter. Then I am anxious to get back into making more auilts. I have several scrap quilts started with fabrics from my mother. I am hoping to have enough to make a 54 x 54 quilt for each of her grandchildren. I am hoping to have my own longarm machine by the time i have the tops done so I can also do my own quilting on them.
