Jan 1, 2017… the first page of our new year is so FULL of possibilities! My personal tradition is to be SURE I do a few minutes of ALL the things I want to do MORE of this year. For me that is…
- Sew sew sew!!! did I mention sew?
- Take a walk, I want to walk more
- Take a few minutes to be relaxed, maybe read, look at a book, or just listen to some music. Take some time to let my mine think. I tend to be a go-go-go person and have to force myself to slow down.
The Quilt behind my Question is my new ‘Pinwheel Park’ Layer cake pattern + one fabric pattern, hope you make one!

Now for the fun!!!
What will you do today to kick off 2017?
Answer in the comments below by Jan 4 at 6pm EST and you could win this prize
Winner is Kathy B who said “My 2017 goals are to shine my sink which I am hopeful will spread thru out the house. I’m going to tame my sewing areas so I can get more done. I’m going to quilt more of my quilt tops. I’m going to cut projects for each machine I have. These will include nursing home quilts, baby quilts, pet quilts and some for family. I’m going to cut a simple quilt to send to my sewing granddaughter to put together. I am thinking of rejoining the church lady quilting bunch every other Thursday. I am going to get back into the habit of walking the pets.”

- My EXCLUSIVE Talk show Button (Be sure you listen!)
- My NOT YET IN STORES Mini Charm of Sunday Drive

Working on some UFOs
Christmas decorations that are still up will be taken down, packed, and stored. Once finished with that, my house and mind will be free to quilt!
I’m planning on finishing my to do list from last year and I would like to take more time for a walk a day. Not sure about my second wis, but I’m going to give it a try .
I am starting on next year’s stocking stuffers, some cute animal tea towels.
Today I am looking thru old magazines and patterns that I have “clipped” looking at where I want my quilting to go for 2017.
Today we traveled home from celebrating our 44th anniversary which was yesterday. We actually went to a concert on our weekend get away and were awake to bring the new year in. We intend to do more me\we time which will include walks and for me more sewing. Happy new year!
I sorted some batiks to think about a new quilt. And I’m spending the first two days of the year with my siblings! We are now only 5 in number, and will probably loose the oldest this year. But one more wonderful opportunity to gather and take a picture together.
I have my UFO list on the wall of my sewing room and am starting to whittle away. Here’s to a productive 2017!
I made a table runner which was meant to be made last year. Number 1 of 12 Ufos for 2017. This year I plan to make many quilts.
I’m joining a quilt along (only my 2nd ever!) And writing down goals with my family. I want to be more attentive to the time I spend with my children, more proactive in planning my quilts and crafts, and spend less time scrolling through random social media that doesn’t uplift or strengthen me. Thanks for the awesome site and I look forward to seeing what you share!
Work on the next round robin block and work on the hand sewing on a binding.
I am getting my WIPs n one place and committing to finishing them by the end of the year. I have At least five quilt tops to turn into quilts and some smaller project that need finishing.
I plan to sew! What a great way to start a new year, month, week and day!
I am going to tidy up my sewing room, make a list of my UFOs, and quilts to be quilted and projects to start. I am going to search for missing fabric and tidy up my cottons. Then I will be ready to start sewing. Woohooo.

Before I sew, I have to organize some fabric (okay, a lot of fabric. This is the year for the UFOs and there seem to be too many of them. Maybe I will go for a walk, instead, while it is sunny!

My quilting space is in my dining room…great view of the dishes I have neglected on the kitchen bench, in order to sew! Goal this year – let’s take little bites…this MONTH – is to keep the bench clear so I can quilt guiltless! I have a retreat mid-year, and several online challenges I want to take part in. Top of the list…the 182 Day Solstice Challenge, of course!
