Jan 1, 2017… the first page of our new year is so FULL of possibilities! My personal tradition is to be SURE I do a few minutes of ALL the things I want to do MORE of this year. For me that is…

  • Sew sew sew!!! did I mention sew?
  • Take a walk, I want to walk more
  • Take a few minutes to be relaxed, maybe read, look at a book, or just listen to some music. Take some time to let my mine think. I tend to be a go-go-go person and have to force myself to slow down.

The Quilt behind my Question is my new ‘Pinwheel Park’ Layer cake pattern + one fabric pattern, hope you make one!

  1. I plan to sew, already made a list of quilty things I want to finish this year. Also, walking. I don’t have sidewalks in my neighborhood, so I have to dodge the cars since we have a LOT of college students parking and driving on my street. My granddaughter is getting married in March, so walking to lose a few pounds is another goal.

  2. Last year in the summer time I started separating my fabric into color’s, patterns, holidays etc. I put it on hold for way to long, so today I have been down in my room trying to finish it off. I am measuring it and putting it on cardboard so I know what I have. Now I know why I stopped last year it’s a big process. Can’t wait to get my material under the needle again. Thank you for all the good read on your website.

  3. Started my day praising the lord, then visiting my elderly parents, some soup making, now off to the sewing room. Happy New year!

  4. I plan on more quality time with my Granddaughters, more sewing. Locating that elusive quarter inch…updating skills to include fabric weaving, and crazy quilting, clearing out the old and outdated. Working various block socials, Molli sparkles, the quilt planner, Pat Sloan ;)Also, a sprinkling of quilt classes at my local quilt store, The Whistle Stop Quilt Shoppe!

  5. Designing a free motion quilting design for my bed pillow runner to go with the new quilt I finished for our bed. I don’t like pillow shams so I’ve designed a dinner to go over the pillows at the head of the bed. I’m also making some new put holders

  6. 1. Attend church since New Year’s is on a Sunday this year.
    2. Visit my mother-in-law.
    3. Work on cross-stitching a quilt top for my mother-in-law’s 91st birthday since I did not get it completed for her 90th birthday last November.

  7. Planning to do some more organizing since our Christmas is postponed to next Sunday when everyone close can get together. The Christmas tree is on top of my sewing machine cabinet. Next week I get to SEW!

  8. I’ll be doing a bit of sewing, playing backgammon with my dear hubs, and making sure the squirrels and birds have food and water. oh, and check in with sisters for the new year.

  9. Going to learn more quilting techniques, exercise more and watch what I eat. My goal is to get more fit and lose some weight. Another goal is to be nicer and have more patience with others.

  10. Working on all unfinished along with the weekly solstice which I am eager for every Wednesday. I said no BOM this year, finish everything else…..started watching all the completions and well I’ve made two styles so far……hooked once again!

  11. Happy New year pat. Thank you for your quilts and patterns you share. I want to visit my friend today and help her get the tension right on her long arm. I also want to sew on the mystery quilt.

  12. I will be finishing off a number of householdy things I couldn’t get done yesterday because of a lengthy power outage before I will allow myself to head off to my quilting sanctuary to finish off a few more Spendid Sampler blocks.

  13. I am going to finish up 2 children’s quilts and work on a beautiful t-shirt quilt for my best friend for her husband’s birthday on Feb. 1st. I am also beginning work on an Americana quilt for my sister’s future daughter-in-law. Then I think I am going to play with my 2 shih Tzu pups before starting on their new harnesses. Planning on a full day. Of course, church was first this morning.

  14. I’m hand sewing on the quilt I’m gifting to my son and his girlfriend for a housewarming present. I’m also helping to plan an incentive for people to adopt a black cat from a rescue I volunteer for. Black cats go much slower, I’m not sure why.
Thank you sew much for giving me access to your Solstice Challenge. It’s my first one!

  15. I plan on getting in as much sewing as possible! Hopefully I can get some done between cooking dinner (black eyed peas, cabbage, ham and cornbread) and putting away Christmas decorations.

  16. I am working on my niece’s and nephew’s rainbow stars wedding quilt and watching football. Go Lions!! Happy 2017! 🙂

  17. My plans include sewing, football (Go Pack GO!), reading and a little HGTV. Happy New Year to all, and thank you for the give away!

  18. I should clean a very dirty oven, but would rather make some more Summer Solstice Challenge blocks. Why start one quilt when you can start two! (Sigh – more ufo’s in my future!)

  19. Today I am working on the boarders for secret garden. I want to have this top finished before you post the first block for this year’s mystery. Wish me luck.

  20. Well, 1st of all I went to church to worship the Lord. Then I kissed my husband. I hope to take a nap this afternoon, and this evening I hope to get back to the quilt I am making for our granddaughter’s college graduation (we were gone for Christmas, so it has been almost 2 weeks since I last worked on it).

  21. Plan for 2017-finish the UFO’s that didn’t get finished in 2016,give myself some props for what I do get done, move forward towards a more
organized 21st century woman. I somehow got lost in “life problems” about 10 yrs ago but am determined to catch myself up to 2017. Of course this means “doing instead of thinking about” so your challenge to sew is spot
on for me. THANKS,I’LL BE WITH YOU ON THIS ONE.

  22. In 2017 I will be totally remodeling my sewing space. It will no longer be a spare bedroom, but a beautifully designed, functional sewing studio. Can’t wait!!

  23. I plan to finish my Moda Be My Neighbor Blocks (3 to go)/ Also finish up some UFO and start many new quilts.

  24. Happy New Year! I am loving today as I am picking out my fabrics for the Soltstice Challenge (black & whites and some pink hand dyed fabrics that a dear friend gave me years ago) and will get the first block done. I’m also organizing my sewing room, walking the dogs, reading, and watching an episode of Death in Paradise with my sweet husband. What a beautiful, sunny day to enjoy. Thank you for the fun challenges, mystery quilts, and giveaways.

  25. I’m going to work on my Solstice Challenge squares today. Then work on my ufo’s, a king size quilt for our bed, a baby quilt and a 1/2 batik fabric challenge from a local quilt shop. Sew, sew, sew! Happy New Year!

  26. I plan on being with family and like so many others quilting. I joined the UFO challenge so will be starting that.

  27. Isi the with my husbands new granddaughter and his kids. Enjoy a seafood feast and a glas or 6 of wine.

  28. i would like to get to the end of this year and be able to say, i’m a quilter, not just a new quilter, but one who [at least thinks] she knows what she’s doing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  29. I will be putting in the final hand stitching on my Double Wedding Ring quilt. The first quilt I ever started with…51/2 years ago. Nearly finished! Already planning the next 3 projects after I have collected my Singer 201 tomorrow…happy days.

  30. I have been to church, out to eat lunch, now I will catch on facebook, do daily devotion, sew, organize demo for Tuesday night quilt group, and cook a little supper. Sunday is my day not to exercise but I will resume tomorrow. Great to be a retired person.

  31. I am walking more in 2017, including some faster walking. More homemade soups and healthy, local food.

  32. Once my company leaves (before noon), I plan to do a little baking, put a few Christmas things away, and work on a crazy quilt my Aunt Mary started but could not finish. I feel very lucky that she gave this quilt to me. Happy New Year, Pat!!

  33. I’m looking forward to sewing my favorite things. I’m going to try to be a better person and be proud of the person I am.

  34. So glad 2016 is over! The new year will be filled with getting UFO’s done and if I see something I really want to do I will start them. Hope one of those new quilts are yours!

  35. I plan to clean up my sewing room and finish off some UFO’s, I would like to take part in your BOM, and maybe just maybe use what fabrics i already have. This year is a year of finishes I think.
