Jan 1, 2017… the first page of our new year is so FULL of possibilities! My personal tradition is to be SURE I do a few minutes of ALL the things I want to do MORE of this year. For me that is…

  • Sew sew sew!!! did I mention sew?
  • Take a walk, I want to walk more
  • Take a few minutes to be relaxed, maybe read, look at a book, or just listen to some music. Take some time to let my mine think. I tend to be a go-go-go person and have to force myself to slow down.

The Quilt behind my Question is my new ‘Pinwheel Park’ Layer cake pattern + one fabric pattern, hope you make one!

  1. I plan to sew and complete my unfinished projects, especially a queen size quilt, which I need to quilt (my first large item) & bind. I love your blocks and tutorials from the splendid sampler blocks. I am also looking forward to the solstice challenge.
Unfortunately, I just broke my right ankle, so no driving or walking for 2 months, but happily my machine has hand controls :-), so I will have fun.
Happy & Healthy New Year to everyone.

  2. Try to a couple of the BOM of 2016 so I can start 2017! I simply have too many UFO’s. So much fabric and so little time.

  3. I cleared my sewing table this morning, so I have inspiration and room to tackle some must-do projects.
In January, I’ll be decluttering stash and reorganizing fabrics, with some going to a local church quilt guild.
In February I will organize and prioritize those UFO’S I uncover in January, and set some goals for completion.
    After that? We’ll see …

  4. I started the New Year with an early morning walk! For the rest of the day, I plan on working on the quilt I cut out yesterday. It called Labyrinth Walk by Christopher Florence. I hope to stay busy!

  5. I’m sewing right now! Just took a quick break to grab a bite. I have several swaps to get finished and then it’s on to my selfish sewing!

  6. after staying up late, my hubby and I usually sleep till mid-morning. then things start happening!!! he fixed food while I check out the internet…great hubby…then a walk, a drive, maybe a movie.time at the sewing machine is always a possibility. kinda a slow and lazy day before the usual routine starts tomorrow. dewing and time with hubby…my 2 favorite things

  7. Well today is 1) church 2) a meal 3) watch Vikings win over the Bears 4) put away the Christmas mess that has taken over my dining room table 5) put away 2016 sewing mess 6) start my 2017 sewing mess with making two rag quilts for March babies!!

  8. Unfortunately I am away from my sewing machines for the entire wkend. All I have been thinking all wkend is “I wish I was home to sew. I would have a lot more fun!”

  9. I plan to work on a tote bag for my daughter’s birthday tomorrow. It has a snoopy and Linus appliqué on it.

  10. I plan to make the Christmas gifts that didn’t get done before the holidays due to travel and illness.

  11. I am going to practice my points by doing the Solstice challenge (already improved between blocks 1 & 2 😊) and then take the big step of following a full pattern as so far I have been mainly making it up as I go along! Pat, you and all your Facebook friends really inspire me x

  12. I am ironing fabric for the Mystery BOM and the Solstice Challenge. Of course, I will finish cleaning the kitchen first. Well, I am heating up the iron now, so maybe I’ll play with fabric first and I promise I’ll clean the kitchen after. Yep – that’s the plan! Of course, I need to get the Solstice blocks done, so I’ll do those and THEN I’ll clean the…I’ll clean the kitchen tomorrow – I’m quilting! =)

  13. This year my goals are to be a better person physically, mentally, & spiritually. I would like to become more accomplished in my barrel racing and quilting. Above all make time for what’s important!

  14. I have so many projects started as well as planned. I want to finish some this year as well as all of the Frivols kits that I have stacked up.

  15. Walk the dog, read, take a nap, have dinner at my sister’s house with my family, and baste together the quilt sandwich of a wall hanging that I’m make for the entryway at work.

  16. I am working on a quilt for a new baby granddaughter who will be born in February and also doing some Splendid Sampler Blocks.

  17. I started today by attending church, got home played with and walked the dog, hubs finally woke up tee hee because we got to bed very late. It doesn’t matter when I get to bed I get up at the same time. Sitting her with an ice pack on my knee and watching the Dallas Cowboys play. Getting ready to fix a big bowl of black eye peas and ham. My word for this year is simplofy I am hoping to do the winter solice with you and just order the splendid sampler book since I got into it too late. I want to refocus my sewing and do more charity work. I love to quilt and want to tackle new things like my fear of paper piecing. Today is a day of rest. Tomorrow full throttle ahead. Bless all of you and Happy New Year.

  18. I have Sew much to do first practice on my long arm, then work on my Winter Solstice Quilt, work on two Churn dash Quilts, planning on Project for National Quilts of Valor sew day. And during all that clean house do laundry, cook and whatever else comes my way.

  19. I am a beginning quilter. I am not steady when cutting or sewing, my seams meander at times. For me, the bigger the block, the better. I am starting a fat quarter Priincess Picnic quilt for my grand daughter. Its full of bright colors and patterns, and my blocks are 15 inches, so that meets one of my needs. I am also in your Solstice Challenge, hoping that I can see patterns and colors in a new way! 2 blocks down!

  20. I plan to do a little organizing and planning in my sewing room, spend some time with my wonderful granddaughters and sew, sew, SEW!!
    Happy New Year!

  21. The first thing I did was to text my close family good wishes for the new year. I plan on doing dishes, laundry, and tidying up the living room, dining room, kitchen, and my bedroom, check on my ailing father-in-law,ride both horses, read my bible, walk, quilt, and drink 80 oz. water. Hi, ho! It’s off to work I go!

  22. I’m planning to do a little re-organizing in the studio, quilting and designing today. Have already done some of the re-organizing so quilting will be after lunch (block 2 of the Solstice quilt)and designing will be while watching TV this evening.

  23. First thing this morning we went to church. Then home to cook lunch, then settle in to clean up Christmas decorations, then sew some more on a new quilt I just started from the Frivols collection.

  24. I just finished my latest quilt top, backing, label, and binding yesterday and plan to call my quilter tomorrow. Today I’m cleaning my sewing room in preparation to (re)start one of my UFO’s. I’m also sitting down today to plan some goals for the New Year.

  25. Went to Church this morning; later today plan to finish sewing pincushions for gifts for my sewing group. My sewing goal this year is to complete my Christmas sewing gifts by June!

  26. Celebrate New Years with family – a puzzle, games and our pork, sauerkraut and black eyed peas for good luck. Then on to finishing a bed runner, t-shirt quilt and my Winter Birds wall hanging and solstice block 2 this week. I better get busy and off the screens. Oh but I would have missed this great opportunity. Happy New Year, thanks Pat.

  27. I did a Facebook Live video about free motion quilting designs and next I need to make a list of 2017 quilt projects! I will probably start with paper pieces stars. Happy New Year! Thanks for the giveaway 😄

  28. Going to finish two projects! Husband is gone ice fishing, so it’s time to have some fun sewing!
I love the Solstice Challenge – first time to try something like this.
