HomeTown Charms week #4 with options!

With Week #4 we have options! This week and question on some blocks popped up which reminded me of a sew along we did a few years back.  They are all 12" finished blocks which are great options if you want to swap blocks for any of the 12" finished in this project.

Our Ambassador Team also shares their memories today, can you relate to any of them?

…Let's get to it!

*** Sloan Zone Ambassador team *** with their Hangouts!

  • Carrie Fmy hometown memories are the pool, the library, and the pizza place. I'd send my kids to walk by themselves to the town pool while I cleaned the house and would meet up with them later….it's exactly what my own mother did 20 some years earlier. Same with the library. We all love the library. My sons ,as I was, were free-range kids…I'm sure parents can't do that now. When I didn't feel like cooking we sat in the hot, steamy pizza place and ate the extra cheesy pizza.
  • BobbieFrozen custard stand. Its the local 'bar' for families… baseball teams, scouts etc !!! Custard is like ice cream just different. Hot summer evenings.. lines of folks standing outside as they wait their turn… feels like Mayberry or the Sound of Music.
  • Carrie G  - When I was in these schools, and now my kids are, after plays and concerts we'd all gather at a local ice cream shop to continue the celebration and catch up. Kids sat with kids and parents with parents. Loads of laughter and stories. Love that I did this as a kid, and now my own are too.
  • Lyleen – In the summer we would hang out at the beach whenever possible. We also spent a lot of time at each other's homes with occasional visits to Pizza Hut or Wendys.
  • DorrisI lived too far out in the country to be able to "hang out" in town, but I did enjoy going to the high school basketball games and high school football games once I was old enough to drive. I always took my two younger brothers with me, but they went their way and I went mine once we were there.
  • SuzanneOur road ended just past the next house after mine. There was a Y intersection there where the entrance to two abandoned camps where. There was a fence on one and that was the perfect backstop for a wiffleball diamond. That is where the neighborhood kids hung out. All six of us.
  • KendallThe place to be on a Friday night or Saturday was the Roller Rink/Bowling Alley and entertainment centre. As a teenager my friends and I could always be found either bowling or skating.
  • BarbaraDuring the summer the “hangout” was the local pool. Everyone was there from open to close as often as possible!
  • MelissaThe local hang out in Wellington was the parking lot in the town square. All the teens would park their cars and chat and cruise through town. In the winter we had a hill for sledding and kids from all over town would sled all day long. On Sat. it was the local roller rink located in the beautiful town hall. After the H.S. basketball games there was always a sock hop held in the gym. Such a fun place to grow up. We had a city pool and a state park to swim at and gather.

we need more people like you in this world. Keep on doing what you’re doing its VERY GOOD.
    Love You Barb

  2. Even though I grew up in Minnesota, land of 10,000 lakes, my hometown only had a river running through it. So, no sailboats….lol! Remember the first time I saw a sailboat flying through the water. Such a beautiful sight.

  3. I love the red sailboat best as it really stands out better than the flower one. Maybe because it is right next to the same fabric in the house. Both are really pretty. But the boat is red!! 😊
