For this sew along my Sloan Zone Ambassador team will be sharing their hometowns with you. Today we have the whole team!

    • Kendall – I live in Goulburn, NSW, Australia, population 24,000. See a great article at  https://tinyurl.com/KendallHome

    • Kathy – Rockville, MD I've lived there for 17 years. As Children we could walk or ride our bikes everywhere to explore the library, local 5 and Dime, and play in the woods. Every mom was our mom when we needed a glass of water or a Band-Aid.

    • Laura – My hometown as an adult is, Bellefontaine. I have lived here for 28 years. Belle Center is the first town that was "home" for me as a 9 year old, I stayed there until I graduated from High school. Now I live 20 min away from there. My favorite thing was that it was a small town, with a great ice cream shop. It's population currently is 865 people.

    • Suzanne- My home town was Holmes, New York. We moved in February of 1964 and I lived there until 1983. I got married in 1984 and have lived in Wingdale , NY since. We would walk or bike to swim in the lake and buy ice cream and soda at the hotel on the bend in the road. (Holmes). When I grew up and moved to Wingdale we swam in the old limestone quarry that had crystal clear cold, cold water.

    • Carrie G – My hometown is East Greenbush, NY, just 5 miles south of the Albany capital. I moved here when I was 6, back in 1974. I've served as a Girl Scout leader, a town softball board member and owned an art studio here for 13 years. The word Greenbush is derived from the Dutch het groen bosch, referring to the pine woods that originally covered the land.

    • Melissa –My Home Town is Wellington, Ohio lived there for 18 years. It was known as the Cheese Capital with over 40 factories making cheese. One section of downtown is shaped like a wedge of cheese.

    • Barbara – My hometown is Marengo, Ohio. I’ve lived here for 5.5 years now. Population 271 . I love living in a small rural town.

    • Dennis – Pioneer, LA-I usually claim Oak Grove, LA, as I spent 2nd-12th grades there. My favorite thing about both is that I escaped. Favorite thing there in Oak Grove is family.

    • Carrie F – the town I will always call home is Collingswood, NJ (don't forget the "s") actually what I loved about it…and it's still true to this day….everything is within walking distance and the kids feel (we felt) safe to wander the neighborhood and play outside "until the street lights come on".

    • Bobbie – My hometown is Mukwonago, WI – 'back in the day' it was so small we didn't have stoplights (aka 'stop-n-go' lights) just a big round-about in the center of down.

    • Brenda G – My hometown is Terryville Connecticut. The town got its name from Eli Terry who is considered the father of the American mass-production clock industry.  In my late 20s I moved to Bristol Connecticut where I owned and operated Joy of Pets. Then in 1997 my Mother was diagnosed with cancer. I closed my business and moved to Maine to care for her. I found a home in Newburgh Maine, where I remain still today. ā€œMaine the way Life should beā€.

    • Dorris – I live in Kingston Tennessee. On September 21, 1807, Kingston was Tennessee's state capital for one day. The Tennessee General Assembly convened in Kingston that day due to an agreement with the Cherokee, who had been told that if the Cherokee Nation ceded the land that is now Roane County, Kingston would become the capital of Tennessee. After adjourning that day, the Assembly resumed meeting in Knoxville. (copied from Wikipedia)

    • Lyleen – My hometown is Durham, NC. Home for me has always been about family. My parents moved me here in the late 1970's. I moved my hubby here in the mid 80's. My 2 wonderful grown sons were born here and now their wives and my granddaughter are here. I am lucky to live in an area full of exciting things. Basketball & higher education (Duke NC State and UNC), excellent medical care & research, Broadway and local entertainment, agriculture, history and a foodie destination. A beautiful blend of the past, present and the future. Then to top it off I am just a few hours from beautiful beaches and stunning mountains.

    • Gregg – Like Pat, I call Herndon Virginia my hometown. It's wonderful to in live in a community that is close to so many things. It's easy to get to just about anything you want.

  1. My hometown is Clemson, SC. We are in beautiful Upstate SC in the foothills of the mountains and near lakes and waterfalls. When the beach it is calling it is only 4.5 hours away. We are home to Clemson University which brings in 70-80K on football weekends. We have lived here 27 years.

  2. My hometown is Dover NH, located in the picturesque seacoast. Settled in 1623, it is the oldest permanent settlement in NH. In the 19th century Dover was the leading manufacturer of cotton goods. Today we have many restaurants and shops in the old mill buildings. We are an hour away from Boston and the White Mountains and lakes region. Only 20 minutes from the beach, having the shortest seashore of all the states. I have lived here for most of my life and never want to leave (except to go to Disney)!

  3. My hometown is Harlingen Texas, way down along the Rio Grande River. We are just about 20 minutes from the Mexican border. I was born here, haven’t always lived here, but I’m here to stay. It’s hot, but it’s home. My parents and grands grew up here too. A lot has changed over the years, but a lot stays the same. My great grandma had a restaurant when I was a child, down on skid row. Today, it’s a gentrified area with a swanky little martini bar. I get very nostalgic when we go there. I feel so far away from all of you, living “way up north” where it’s cold. We get a lot of “Winter Texans” during Oct-March. Can’t blame them for wanting to escape the cold and come play golf down here. Looking forward to sewing along w/ y’all.

  4. My hometown is in France, in the suburbs of Paris. It was a great place to grow up. My school was waling distance. I would go back home for lunch like all my friends. We lived in a very big house, shared with other family members. We had a large garden
I spent my free time with my friends from school. I studied in Paris in the Sorbonne, the University. . I took for granted the beauty of the city and it’s when I settled in the USA that I rediscovered my hometown and my country. Little has changed in my hometown except the small stores have been replaced by a supermarket, but there still is the butcher, the fruit and vegetables store, the pharmacy etc.. I got married in my parish, built in the 12th century! My heart is in two places now.

  5. My hometown is so small no post office! Interesting that several of your team are in ohio like me! I have ancestors in Marengo, friends a few miles away in Wellington and Belle Center isn’t too far away, so yeah Team!Happy sewing! Love Kendalls video!

  6. Los Alamos, NM is where I grew up. Does that sound familiar? It’s the home of the atomic bomb! It was formed in 1942 as a weapons laboratory. It’s location was top secret. Children born there had a post office box on their birth certificates. It was a closed city until around 1963 with guards at the gates of the town. Visitors had to state their business and whoever they were visiting would be called to make sure they were expecting company. A unique place to grow up!

  7. My hometown is Barberton, Ohio in the N E Part. we are about an hour south of Cleveland. Our town is the Magic City, due to how fast it grew. Growing up we had 2 tire plants and Sun Rubber made toys. We have a beautiful Lake in the center named after the founders daughter, Lake Anna. We have a Mumfest the last weekend in September sponcered by Aris Horticulture, World’s largest grower of flowers. There Corporate off is here, but they grow no flowers here now. It was a great place to grow-up and it still is a great place.
