Block #7 – Where to Have your Picnic

my favorite place to have a picnic was the family reunions that were done at a local park under these wonderful pavilions.  Great big cement slabs with the pavilion above it and then picnic tables all underneath.  I loved only will go to the islands on our cruise is because several of them had very similar setups of these pavilions with picnic tables.

Our most recent picnic was to a winery that was nice!

Tip: watch the video for pressing directions and alternate colors

Fabric:

  • I'm using a bundle of Golden Rod FQ bundle a. https://shrsl.com/2dj3q  and more options at   https://shrsl.com/2dhtw
  • You will not use all of the fabric the bundle it is a working bundle and you can pick lights and darks from anything in it because there's plenty of fabric
  • I used the background for this block but you can use any fabrics.  You don't have to do it exactly like mine, make it your own watch my video for other power options you might like

  1. My favorite place to picnic is anywhere the sun is shining whether it is on the back deck, in the backyard or by a body of water. Growing up it was a thrill when my parents loaded us 5 kids into a car & set off to the beach for a day of swimming and picnicking. Thanks Pat for the fun sew along!

  2. My favorite picnic place is Dodge Park in Sterling Heights Michigan. No concerts in the park this year but had a few picnics with friends and played card games and cornhole.

  3. A picnic i remember was held at a nearby reservoir’s picnic area. Of course there was watermelon & cantaloupe & some of the juices had gotten on my right elbow. That attracted the little sweat bees that started biting. I was sitting at the end with my grandmother next to me. Every time I said I had bees biting me my parents would glance my way but they couldn’t see the little critters so off hand remarks were given. That night Mom exclaimed “your elbow to s swollen, what happened?” To which Grandma stated “she told you about the bees but no one paid attention.” Some type of cream & baby aspirin took care of the swelling.

  4. My favorite picnic place when I was growing up was Squantz Pond in Connecticut – I think in New Fairfield. We’d go there July 4 with cousins and grandparents. It was a great place to swim and explore. Now, since I live near the ocean, the beach has been a favorite, but not this year since Covid has dominated our lives. But next year!!

  5. Our favorite place for a picnic is the Hollywood Bowl! So nice to take a picnic dinner and eat under the stars, then enjoy a great concert. We miss the Bowl this year.
