*** The Aurifil Project ***
Our August Aurifil Designer of the Month is Nicholas Ball, an amazing quilter from Wales. He is using the gorgeous shimmer shades from our Capri Box of thread.
My post today is tips on how to approach the block from my friend and fellow team member Carolina Assmussen https://www.carolinasmussen.com/ . Since I can't do any sewing yet as I'm still recovering from 2 broken wrists. She made my block and shared her process tips below
Go on over and read my interview for Aurifil's Designer of the Month Series!

*** Featured Aurifil Collection ***
Each month the Aurifl color Builder box is named the town of Sardinia. Each designer is creating a block based on something about this thread collection. The Aurifil blocks are exciting and unique. At the end of the year I create a layout.
I make the blocks in totally different fabrics, and have some tips each month for you on construction, let's continue!

*** My block ***
- Carolina helped me again this month to make my block. AND she did this right after the power went out for 8 days in her area! She gets my 'What a Woman' Award!
- below are some photos the process
AT The END is a video of Nicholas doing a demo

*** Fabric used ***
- layout out strips so you have a nice flow of color
- Carolina's tip – It is an "improv" piecing and if you're not used to working like this it helps to select your fabric range and organize the strips (and take photos with your phone/ tablet) before you start!
- She clipped the seam allowances all the way to make sure the block would be flat after ironed.

Hey! Thanks for my “What a Woman” award! It was my pleasure to help you again and I’m loving to play with your stash 😉
Pat, I haven’t been able to quilt much lately. I’ve been making hundreds of face masks. I have not charged for them, but some people do give donations. I have tons of fabric and I’m enjoying making them. What is also a delight is to read your emails and visit your sites. You are a joy to have around. Thank you for making my years of quilting so much fun. Stay safe.
Loved the interview with Nicholas Ball and I’ve been following him on IG for quite a while now. He has a wonderful sense of style and color to his work!
I think on the Aurifil website you indicate that pictures should be uploaded by August 14, however the interview was posted on August 15. Did you mean to indicate by September 14? I uploaded a picture of my improv blocks as I’m hoping the date was wrong.
