Make the stars!!

I used this quilt to help me get back to sewing after breaking both of my wrists in June 2020, during the pandemic. I had all but a few stars done, all pieces cut but sashing. My friend Sue cut the sashing and I sewed all the 9-pach border blocks. It was quilted at the spa by Cindy & Dennis

It was thrilling to be able to finish this with casts and braces on

Share your quilt at the end!

  1. Still want to do this Little Wishes Quilt, not sure if I want star points the same color or more contrast?

  2. I clicked on the above link for Little Wishes quilt pattern and got block 6 of Home Is… how do I get Little Wishes?

  3. I love your use of the polka dot fabric. Hope I have some in my stash. I am currently traveling across the country to our winter home in Utah. I desperately need to clean out my stash! Here we go!!!

  4. I wasn’t able to do this challenge but so impressed with the way you tied it all together with red dashing and black star points (both polka dots). I love polka dots so your quilt really spoke to me. Jennie Nixon

  5. Oh, Cindy, I understand your pain as I often go thru that, too. I wish I could help you with this plight! Peace and blessings, Vicki

  6. I just made two different versions of this block. I need more practice. I made one with 16 2 1/2” blocks in the middle. Not too crazy about that one. It’s pretty big though so you don’t have to make as many of them to make a quilt! Then I made several with a 4-patch in the middle. Not too bad. The first couple of them I completed were fine. By the time I got to the 4th one they were getting wonky. Guess I need more practice. I used the same fabric for all of the background though. Not quite as scrappy as yours. I don’t have that much “light” fabrics for a scrappy background. I’m inclined to not go for the super scrappy look. My eyes need a little more room for resting. LOL. But I love the happy look of yours, especially with the polka-dots! I’ll have to give that some serious thought. I have some polka-dot fat quarters and maybe a jelly roll too. Have to think about that. Thanks so much for the inspiration! I love stars though so you have me hooked anytime with stars!

  7. I have a stupid question. I sometimes buy the prewound bobbins. The problem I am having is how do I pull out the beginning thread? I am having a terrible time finding the beginning thread and I end up cutting a across the bobbin therefore making my own beginning. This ends up jamming the bobbin and wasting thread ..grrrrr….Is there a simple easy trick to pulling out the beginning thread on a pre wound bobbin? I am a left so maybe that is my issue!! Haaa
    Thanks,
    Cindy

  8. Help! I can make a quilt, but with my failing eyesight I’m struggling to see where and more importantly how (not techy) enter my top in your little wishes challenge. Thanks. Found your tutorial, but not finding where to fill in the blanks. Tia

Made me think… And use some jelly rolls I wasn’t crazy about.
