*** Block Tip ***

  • This is how i decided the order I wanted to use the fabric.
  • I really want to try this in solids for a full quilt and see how dramatic I can make it!
  • NOTE if using a LAYER CAKE
    • The medium strip that is 10.5" will need to have a little piece sewn on to make it long enough – you won't notice the seam. Or substitute something from your stash if you don't like the seam
    • your last dark long strips are from your extra yardage. You could also piece the fabric for this

  1. I went skiing twice, but almost fell off a cliff. That was it for me, but I love the snow. It is so beautiful all this white stuff and the little lights from the houses feeling so welcoming.

  2. My hard spot to keep clean is still my end table. My dear sweet better half just cleaned it off two days ago and it only lasted a few hours literally. It is just him and i in this 650 sq foot apartment but it is still a problem. I love to listen to your fire chats.

  3. I love skiing and have been to several places with my friends to ski. Probably my favorite was Whistler in Vancouver. I haven’t skied as much since I’ve had kids, but they are old enough to try it out so I might take them out this winter.

  4. I tell everyone I know about your sew alongs. Girl. Having a quick quilt at the end of a few weeks is like Christmas every time. You have taught me new tricks as it moves along. I love you pat.

  5. No sking for me, but love sitting by the fireplace at the Lodge, and doing some hand work. A little glass of wine is nice too. lol Been a very long time since I’ve done this.
    cheers,
    maggie

  6. Nordic skiing was big part of our weekends when my boys were younger. It is nice to see that my married son is now taking his daughter skiing. Now I would rather watch them ski from my kitchen window while sipping a nice cup of hot tea!

  7. I didn’t see snow till I was newly married! But did I have fun once I discovered it. No skiing. Now we follow the warmth of the sun. I really like this block. I have never made a log cabin but now I will. Thank you this fun block.

  8. Just getting started now that my new Koloa sewing cabinet is installed and remodel is done will post soon

  9. I love doing your blocks and I get excited waiting for Wednesday. I am sure it will be a nice quilt when I am done. I normally don’t do this kind of thing as I have so many things going now anyway, but I have found time to do your blocks love it. Thanks for taking time to make these blocks. 🙂

  10. Skiing is one of the sports you can do on two very different surfaces and in two different seasons! Snow and water! Never tried snow skiing (tried cross country, disaster) but I loved to water ski! I learned on Lake Ontario where we live! Unfortunately my skiing days are over too many knee surgeris! My block reminds me of the color of the lake on a beautiful summers day! The swirls remind me of the waves and wake created by the boat as you are being pulled across the water at mind blowing speeds! My kids snow skied and get out every chance they can! The grand kids love to go tubing! Thats where you get on a tube and get pulled behind the boat! That too can be done on snow but then it’s more like sledding not skiing!

  11. I had to learn to cross country ski when we lived in Alaska as part of PE in school. I was in second grade. I haven’t skied since then. I’m just not a fan of being cold. I do love watching skiing events for the Olympic Games.

  12. I only went skiing one season many years ago, and considering I live about two hours from Mt. Hood and maybe 4 from Mt. Bachelor that is pretty sad. I had some friends that got season passes that included lift tickets and ski rentals so we would go up just about every weekend. I had no ski cloths so it was cold and wet and I really never got all that good at it since we only went that one year. I think my favorite part of the day was the hot chocolate and peppermint schnapps we had to warm up after!!
