I would love to get my 15 totes h;of fabric organized but I simply cannot afford to purchase the shelves on which I would like to put7ü the baskets I want to start dividing and sorting my stash so i can begin to know what I have). I literally dig thru all these totes before i go by totes each time I need fabric before goingto buy more. I would love that pretty stuff you are giving away. I have totes full of scraps. I love making scrap quilts.
My favorite cookie is chocolate chip. I use a recipe from my father in law. I made chocolate chip cookies with my granddaughter & grand niece this past weekend. They were so excited to watch them come out of the oven!
One of my fondest holiday memories was making cookies with my Mom. She had a pecan butter cookie that I have not been able to find her recipe to for years :(. They were like a short bread with chopped pecans in a little round ball that I got to roll in powdered sugar when they cooled. They were always a hit with company. It is amazing how much you can miss the little things. I can still taste those cookies though!
Oops i got it wrong. 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup powdered sugar to 1 stick salted butter and dash of coarse salt.
My favorite is the shortbread cookies dear hubby, Harold makes. 1 stick cold real butter – grass fed cow’s the best, 1 cup sifted powdered sugar, 2 cups sifted all purpose flour, a dash of coarse salt. Sift all the dry ingredients, add butter and work it in with fingers until it looks like dry oatmeal. Pat it all into a 8” round or square metal pan. Bake at 375 until browned. Immediately turn it upside down into a dinner plate and cut it into pieces. Let it cool just a few minutes so you can handle it and enjoy it warm with coffee or tea.
Your Betty Crocker cookbook looks better then mine which is the most used book in the house and is now being held together with duct tape! I think it is the 1969 edition. I went to replace it and oh my you should see the price now for one! They have become a high price item for collectors. So take care of you old cookbooks you might have a valuable (in more ways then one) item on your hands.
Oh! What memories! I would start making the doughs right after HALLOWEEN! I made rum balls that woukd be soaked with rum for a month. Then there was the peanut butter balls. Another 3 step process! And I have no idea how many pounds of sugar cookie and ginger bread dough for cut outs I have made over the years! The dozens and dozens of cookies would then be brought together and I woukd make up cookies trays for co-workers, neighbors and family. And, who can forget the care packages of those cookies I sent to my bothers over seas and long ago boyfriends serving in Vietnam Nam! Sadly now I only make a few batches of red velvet cookies and an a few batch of chocolate chips for the hubby or take to a church social or guild meeting
I won’t get to my block till next week traveling!
Finally got them all four made and added to the link party. Looking forward to the other blocks.
My favorite cookie to make is one my mother used to make. It only has 4 ingredients, Yellow cake mix, 1 stick of butter at room temperature, 2 eggs at room temperature and a can of coconut pecan frosting. Blend the butter and eggs together, then add cake mix. mix well, add frosting and stir to blend. Drop by tsp.onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 min. Can also make a bar cookie out of these by spreading dough on greased cookie sheet and baking for 10-15 min till set. These turn out soft and chewy. We always just called them Mom’s Easy Cookies. You can also use a chocolate cake mix.
The Betty Crocker Cookbook and the Betty Crocker Cookie book were 2 of the very first ones I got when I was first married, and though some pages are stained and worn, I still use them some 59 years later.
Cheers,
maggie
Russian Tea Cookies do not last long at our house. It’s usually the last cookie I make & then hide the tin. A requested cookie is my thin rolled sugar cookies. They’re like eating chips. So Pat, what’s your favorite cookie? Which page has the most stains?
My favorite cookie to make is a spritz cookie, made with the cookie press. Especially the ones that are shaped with little sections like the wreaths. It’s fun to eat them one little section or bite at a time. We have made them since we were little and now my own daughter has started making them. She is quite the accomplished cookie baker!
Do not use page three in the pattern as your cutting guide because the parts for the half square triangles should be 5 not 4.5 inches!
I have my Grandmother’s 1963 Betty Crocker Cooky Book! Using it and sharing with my daughter brings back so many wonderful memories from her kitchen. I think my Grandmother probably used S&H Green Stamps to buy it.
I usually make snickerdoodle or Cowboy cookie which is an oatmeal chocolate chip. (i leave out the nuts).
My favorite cookie recipe is Apricot-Pecan Biscotti. I make it during the Christmas holidays.
My favorite Cook Book; Betty Crocker’s edition 1977. A wedding gift, given to me by best friend growing up aka my brother. I miss him dearly. Favorite Cookie; Magic Cookie Bars
Yes! That is the one everyone in my family LOVES. The second is a shortbread stamped cookie. Can you say, ‘cookie, cookie, cookie’!
Sadly, for my waistline, I have not found a cookie that I don’t like. lol
I think my favorite to make is thumbprint cookies filled with my homemade cherry or raspberry jam. I also have the Betty Crocker’s Cooky Book, but mine has a different cover.

I have that Betty Crocker Cookie book. I’ve had it for years and my favorite cookie is the Russian Tea balls.
