‘Little Wishes’ is the name of my Scrap Happy Star block, a night under the stars … maybe you make a wish.. and magic happens

Ok… maybe not magic… but we use up scraps & make an awesome quilt…which is pretty magical

let’s get to it!

I decided to use all kinds of scraps  PLUS the black and white polka dot for my star points,

The large black & white dots is my favorite but HERE are other size dots too, having the same fabric for all the points lets me have the stars really focused for this quilt

Here is my layout.. Scraps, black and white polka dots, markers for the background squares, rotary cutter and 6.5″ square ruler for trimming.

  1. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I have been trying to figure out how to use up my scraps I have all over the place. I hope I can keep up.

  2. Great to bring this one back again! I made a Christmas version with the appliqued Holly on the sides, I may have to do a Spring Version!! Maybe some daffodils or tulips appliqued on the borders!!! hmmmm????

  3. I would like to take part. Too many scraps and have to downsize to a townhouse but at present will need another just for the fabric!

  4. oh yes you wouldn’t believe my scrap pile sill start cutting and sewing tomorrow. it is 10 pm and hubby won’t let me start new project this late at night

  5. I did this challenge last time and made 3 small quilts. The ones who received them really loved them. I want to do it again. Have lots of stash yet. I loved making them. Thanks Pat, for running this again.

  6. I already have a lot of 2.5″ squares cut. Was trying to decide what to make out of them to get rid of some. This is a great idea. I want to join in. Thanks Pat for the many ideas. Love them all.

  7. Great I was looking for a different idea for my starters and enders = getting a bit fed up with pin wheel blocks – made enough for three nine by nine Linus quilts. Should make nice Linus quilts and use up my scraps and odd ends, plus any fat quarters for the backing as I make them quilt as you go. Thank you Pat, I love the site and the Facebook posts.

  8. Gonna try. Still catching up on last years BOM’S. Got behind when traveled with kids and had eye surgery. Did finish 14 quilts by end of 2017.

  9. I’m in. Though scrappy is really hard for me so I’d like to not only do the star points as the same fabric, but also my background as it’s own same fabric. Think that would be okay? I’ll still get to use up a lot of scraps. Thanks.

  10. I think I will try. I have some scraps from Grandma’s kitchen and also have some black fabric with different patterns that would work.

  11. I’ve downloaded the directions and hope to make several. How long will this go on? I have so many 2.3, 3.5, and 5 inch squares and love to make HST. leaders and enders? thanks

  12. Hmmm looks interesting. I may be doing this. I just love all your blocks and save them to make some this winter. I am hoping to follow one of your quilt alongside this year and actually participate. Lol. Will Power is knocking.

  13. I’m in! This will be a great stash buster. I hope—unless using scraps will just multiply into more scraps! 😉

  14. I love this Quilt, especially with the polka dot star points. Count me in. I really need a good scrap busting project.

  15. Nice idea but I find most of your patterns have too many half square triangles Have done some of your mystery quilts

  16. Yes, I’m in. Need another scrappy star quilt. Just finished one (no pictures) but set mine with star points in the sashing. lovely. :-} Husband really liked it..

  17. I’m in! I have a drawer full of 2 1/2″ square already to go. This will be a great leader/ender project while I’m working on some other projects.
