Each Block in Grandma’s Kitchen will be a memory or event of mine. My hope is that you have a special grandma memory that is similar or it triggers a wonderful memory of a favorite person in your life. Several people have told me they have asked cousin, aunts, other family to join them in the memory making. Some are making the quilt for their own grandchildren about them as a grandma. I love how it becomes a personal journal.

All my blocks so far in this colorway, it’s getting harder and harder to show them all without sewing them together!

  1. This goes back a while. I remember the show Grandma always watched when we were lying down for a nap. It was the Art Linkletter show. Grandma and Grandpa always laughed when Art had the kids answer questions. I can now remember Grandma laughing at how funny it was. Thanks for the memories.

  2. TV wasn’t around in both my Grandmas’ life times. I do remember when we got our first TV. Mom had to watch “I Love Lucy”! Later in the 60’s it was “Another World”.

  3. My Granny didn’t watch TV. More or less before her time. My Mom watched Art Linkletter, Lawrence Welk, Liberace and Arthur Godfrey shows along with the “I remember Mama” before the syndicated TV shows period and during the B&W television shows period. As a Grandma in her mid 70’s I’ve been a General Hospital fan for around 35 years or so.

  4. Well, you didn’t bother my grandma when she was watching her show, but I don’t remember what it was. My mother watched any game show and I remember her calling the Price is Right the Price is WRONG! My mom also watched sports and you didn’t bother her when she was watching the Chicago Bulls, so if I needed to talk to her I’d have to tune in to see if it was half time or not. ;-/

  5. My Grandma W. enjoyed watching Art Linklighter’s program. She especially loved the little kids and what they would say! Every day after lunch, she and I would go to the living room and sit, she with her stitching and I just watching and we would have the best time together. Good times and wonderful memories!

  6. My grandma’s favourite program to watch was wrestling. She especially loved the midget wrestlers. She was Italian and even though I didn’t understand the language I am sure some of the words she yelled at the wrestlers were not for children’s ears.

  7. I’m saving all of the blocks to make later – November. This one about Granny K’s favorite show…….Peyton Place! Granny K would come to Detroit to visit or we would go to Kentucky but EVERY single visit had us watching Peyton Place. As a ten a ten year old who wants to watch their show….I did like to watch the show with her. Just being together with her for the hour was my special time. (No one else liked the show)!
