Well this is a FUN day! Not one but TWO giveaways and the last block of Home Town Charms!
For our final HomeTown Charms block we come together to do good work. We end the blocks with Charity. It is the cornerstone of our communities. Neighbors helping neighbors in so many ways. It might be an ongoing project, or fundraising for a very specific need. Working together to do good is an incredible thing we as humans can be part of.

*** Sloan Zone Ambassador team *** their charity and fundraiser đ
- Kendall – I helped fundraise to get a church bell tower completed after being missing for 100 years, we also got bells for the tower from a church in England that was lost to fire, for example)
- Laura – My hometown now, Bellefontaine (French for beautiful spring) is being revitalized. By a group of entrepreneurs called, Small Nation. Our town has become a standard for other towns who are now restoring their towns. Small Nation has basically gone through gutted each building/business and restored it back to its original beauty. Old dilapidated buildings have been saved. And Our town has the smallest street (McKinley St) in America and the first concrete street in America (court st) It was a test street.
- Suzanne – Like many quilters, I pitch in with my guilds â community quiltsâ. Over the years Iâve made tops and now quilt for the group. They supply quilts to our local childrens homes , womens shelter, local sheriff and fire departments emergency response teams. I also quilt for a group in neighboring Connecticut called Quilts that Care. They supply quilts to cancer patients in treatment and in hospice. For over 30 years I have been a âfriendâ to my local library.
- Barbara – My favorite charity currently is The Normady Project. Itâs a organization created to help women who have escaped human trafficking, where they can learn to live independently through mentoring, support and encouragement. In addition, on-site classes are offered in areas of trauma recovery, healthy boundaries, life skills, employment skills, parenting skills, culinary skills, exercise and more.
- Carrie G – Both my daughter and I are Girl Scouts. We support our local council and service units efforts which not only empower young woman, but teaches them the importance of community service. Even my son benefited from his sister being a Scout for 13 years as he modeled what she learned through the organization.
- Kathy – Many of the groups I belong to do a Charity project each year. Over the years I have made quilts for preemie beds, lap quilts for Hospice, quilts for the woman's shelter, hats, scarves, and washcloths for the homeless. I also volunteer my time with several local organizations.
- Brenda -Growing up my mom taught me that no matter how bad you think you have it thereâs always someone else that is having an even harder time. Giving and helping others itâs a good thing.
Alzheimerâs research I made 36 Art quilts which were auctioned and proceeds went to research. Pretty Chemo caps with machine embroidery made and donated to local Cancer treatment center. I even donated my hair minimum 10â more than once. For cancer wigs that are provided free to patients. Crochet the tiniest hats & booties for our NICU. And also for theMarch of dimes preemie project. Making tiny quilts & blankets. Just the size of a legal envelope! Helps those fragile babies look more like real babies and gives comfort to the families. Just some of my ways to give to others
- Dorris – The quilt group I am in donates quilts to Quilts of valor, Child Advocacy, and Family Promise (a group for homeless or near homeless families with children in our county). There are only 8 of us on a regular basis and we have made and donated over 50 quilts so far this year. I do the quilting on a large percentage of the quilts in addition to doing my own.

My favorite holiday memory was going to Grandma's for Christmas Eve dinner. She would make ornaments throughout the year and her tree would be filled with her handcrafts. At the end of the evening we could select a new ornament to take home and put in our own Christmas stash. I really don’t have a tradition other then baking several different kinds of cookies. Love sugar cookies and pumpkin pie. I have several layer cakes that NEED patterns. LOL
My favorite holiday tradition is riding around the neighborhood will all the kids to see all the beautiful decorations, and spending time with family.
My favorite holiday tradition I started when my children were little was to do 12 days before Xmas with something small in their stocking. It was fun shopping for little items and kept them from being anxious waiting for Xmas. I hope my daughter keeps up the tradition with my granddaughter.
My favorite holiday tradition is putting up all our Christmas collections that we have been collecting since my kids were little, they are now all in their 30’s!
Our favorite holiday dessert is pound cake, we have always called it baby Jesus’s birthday cake.
Favorite tradition, I bake gingerbread and cut into houses for the kids, now adults, to decorate after our Thanksgiving meal. I started this to keep family around while the guys went out for their second hunt of the day. The guys would judge the houses when they returned at night for leftoverâs.so fun.
Sadly, due to a family illness and a slim gathering of relatives, We will do this another day. My extended family has begun this tradition with their adult children and grands.

The Sunday before Christmas, we would go out in the pasture with my dad and cut down cut down a cedar tree for our Christmas tree. That is my favorite Christmas memory and tradition.
My favorite tradition is going to church and be thankful for all my blessings. My favorite treat is making the Chex mix. Yum. We go through that very quickly and end up making at least two batches.
Favorite sweet this time of year is kolache. Mine still arenât as good as my Grandmaâs but it is fun to eat each yearâs attempt!
As a December baby, I have always put up the tree on my birthday. My brother, especially, gets me the prettiest ornaments. I enjoy playing Christmas music while finding the perfect spot for each decoration.

My favorite holiday tradition is making Wishing Cookies with my family. We alway make then on our trip to Colorado at Christmas. Happy Holidays to you!
My favorite holiday tradition and favorite holiday treat are one in the same. It is a cookie that we make around the holiday called Lukken. My grandparents were all immigrants from Belgium and they brought this traditional cookie making with them. Each set of grandparents had different cookie irons to make the cookie and therefore a little different cookies in flavor and texture.
My favorite holiday tradition is celebrating Christmas at Thanksgiving. We started this when one daughter and her family could only come on Thanksgiving because at Christmas they went to the in-laws. We just do a fun gift exchange choosing some letter of the alphabet for the gift. Then of course, Grandma gifts each one — the last few years there are quilts to choose from.
Favorite thing to do at thanksgiving is watch football!
Our families favorite holiday tradition is a gift exchange on Christmas Eve. We buy a gift no more than $40.00 and on Christmas Eve everyone picks a card and we start lowest to highest. The wrapped gifts are all in the middle. As your turn comes you may choose a gift or “steal” one that has already been opened. It is fun to discover which was the most popular gift.
Favorite holiday tradition was getting together with my mom to make all the Christmas goodies to share. My daughter always helped and when she grew up and mom got older, we continued the tradition. We havenât done it for the last few years but I think Iâll start again this year.
When my kids were younger we would make ornaments every year, I don’t know who enjoyed it more, them or me.
Our favorite holiday tradition is preparing and enjoying New Mexico stacked enchiladas as a family! My husband’s father homesteaded in New Mexico in the 1930’s and learned to make them. They are a family favorite and great way to honor Granddad and celebrate the holidays!

My favorite holiday tradition growing up was going to my grandmas farm for the holiday dinners. And my favorite sweet was my mothers pecan pie. Hers always came out perfect I wish I could say the same about mine lol.

Todayâs video was really fun! I am making three batches of fudge today to give away. Fudge has to be my all-time favorite for the holidays because my mom made it with me when I was little and she even used my new baking tins from my. Christmas gift. Does anyone remember the little cooking said that came in the box and then when you flip the box overhead for burners printed on it? Oh my gosh and in the middle was a little tiny glass jar of Jurgens lotion. I think that memory has stuck with me for years and it will always be there. Thank you Mom. She is in heaven now. My favorite holiday tradition is getting cute pajamas on Christmas Eve..Everyone looked so cute in their new pjs in Christmas morning photos. There are too many holiday traditions to choose one. Happy holidays to you all.
We have a Christmas party every year and my granddaughter and I make a huge batch of several different kinds of cookies and put them in huge bowl, known as the cookie bowl. It is so fun and I love making different kinds of cookies.
My favorite holiday is Halloween but itâs the colors I like around then. I have made quilt blocks for Brest cancer funds. I have run a lot of 5K that were fundraising.

My favorite holiday treat is my mom’s old fashioned fruit cake. It’s not dry like store bought; it’s moist with lots of nuts and cherries and has to be kept in the refrigerator.
My favorite holiday treat is Carmel corn and Mexican wedding cake cookies.
Favorite holiday tradition is making some sort of ornament to give to my kids and grandkids. Most of them have pictures as part of the ornament. These ornaments tell our family story throughout the years.

Favorite holiday tradition was making cookies with my three sons and then going to two of our local senior citizen retirement community. They brought cheer and sugar! To this day my boys remember this and they have started this tradition with their own families in their own communities!
My favorite holiday traditions is making crafts with the grandkids after thanksgiving dinner. I organized and purchased the items we will use to make our holiday crafts. I have grandkids ranging in ages from 5 through 11 . We have a fun time and it gives their parents time to sit and visit. We end crafting with. Hot chocolate and cookies.

Every Christmas we purchase a large candle. We light it nightly and say a prayer. then on Christmas Day we light it in the morning and it shines all day.
Favorite holiday tradition is having a big meal at Grandma’s with all my aunt, uncles, and cousins. Grandma was a chef so the food was always so good. Two of my uncles were preachers and would try to top each other in bible knowledge.
Our family really has not holiday traditions. I guess we are not traditional. LOL
